Refuge RV Park Introduce
Refuge RV Park, situated at 19922 Michael Ave, Hastings, MN 55033, USA, is an RV park that falls under the "RV Parks Near Me" category, catering to travelers and those seeking a temporary or extended stay with their recreational vehicles. This introduction aims to provide a comprehensive and objective overview of Refuge RV Park, detailing its environment, typical services, features, and crucially, incorporating the contrasting insights derived from available customer reviews to offer a balanced perspective for prospective campers.
Hastings, Minnesota, is a historic city positioned at the confluence of the Mississippi and St. Croix Rivers. It is known for its scenic riverine landscapes, a charming downtown area, and a blend of natural beauty with community amenities. The environment surrounding Refuge RV Park is characterized by:
- Riverine Landscape: Hastings benefits from its unique geographical position at the meeting point of two significant rivers. This offers picturesque views, opportunities for water-based recreation such as fishing, boating, and kayaking, and a general sense of being close to nature.
- Access to Nature and Wildlife: The name "Refuge RV Park" itself might imply a connection to a natural refuge or a tranquil setting that is conducive to observing local wildlife. This type of environment is often highly sought after by RV campers looking for a peaceful escape.
- Small-Town Charm with Urban Proximity: Hastings provides a friendly, small-town atmosphere while still being within a reasonable driving distance of the larger Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. This allows campers to enjoy a quieter setting without being completely isolated from major city amenities, employment, or cultural attractions.
- Local Amenities: While not specifically detailed in the reviews for this park, being located within Hastings means campers would likely have access to local grocery stores, dining options, fuel stations, and other essential services. The address, 19922 Michael Ave, suggests a location that could be nestled away from major thoroughfares, potentially contributing to the "slice of heaven" tranquility mentioned in one review.
- Seasonal Appeal: Minnesota's distinct seasons offer varied experiences for RV campers, from lush summers and vibrant autumns to snowy winters, depending on the park's operating season.
The environment of Refuge RV Park is likely to appeal to those seeking a serene and natural camping experience, potentially offering a peaceful retreat away from urban noise while still being conveniently located for access to city services.
As an RV park, Refuge RV Park would typically offer a range of services and features designed to accommodate recreational vehicles and their occupants. While specific, exhaustive details of every service and feature are best confirmed by contacting the park directly at (651) 480-0444 or +1 651-480-0444, common provisions for RV parks, and those inferred from the reviews, likely include:
- RV Sites with Hookups: The primary service would be designated RV sites, commonly offering electrical hookups (various amperages), water connections, and sewer hookups for convenient waste disposal. The capacity and type of RVs accommodated (e.g., big rig friendly) would be important details to confirm.
- "Slice of Heaven" Ambiance: One review describes the park as a "slice of heaven," which strongly implies a positive and enjoyable atmosphere. This could stem from well-maintained grounds, scenic views, quiet surroundings, or a generally pleasant vibe.
- Customer Service/Management Interaction: The contrasting reviews highlight the critical role of park management and customer service. One positive review expresses gratitude ("Thank you for having us!"), suggesting a welcoming experience. However, the negative review, stating "not very professional," "Does not do what he says he'll do," and "This is not how you treat people," points to significant concerns regarding reliability, professionalism, and interpersonal interactions with management.
For prospective campers, it is essential to inquire about specific amenities that are typically important for RV travel, such as laundry facilities, restrooms and showers, Wi-Fi availability, a camp store, recreational areas (e.g., picnic tables, fire rings, walking paths), and any specific rules regarding pets, quiet hours, or check-in/check-out procedures. Given the conflicting feedback, directly engaging with management during the inquiry process is particularly important to gauge their professionalism and responsiveness.
The customer reviews for Refuge RV Park present a polarized picture, providing both strong promotional points and critical warnings. Implicitly, the park promotes:
- Idyllic and Enjoyable Setting: The "Loved this slice of heaven!" comment is a powerful, albeit brief, endorsement. It suggests a high level of satisfaction from at least one visitor, implying a very pleasant and relaxing environment that would be highly appealing to RVers seeking tranquility.
- Potential for a Great Stay: If the positive experience is representative, the park offers a comfortable and enjoyable place for RV camping in the Hastings area.
However, the significant negative feedback raises critical considerations that prospective campers must carefully evaluate:
- Concerns with Professionalism and Reliability: The review stating "Tried to stay, not very professional," "Does not do what he says he'll do," and "This is not how you treat people. Be careful" is a severe warning. It indicates potential issues with reservation management, communication, and overall customer service. For travelers, relying on confirmed bookings and accurate information is paramount.
- Risk of Negative Experience: The phrase "Be careful" directly advises caution, implying that interactions with the park management or the booking process could lead to disappointment or frustration.
For individuals considering Refuge RV Park within the "RV Parks Near Me" category, whether for a short stop or a longer stay, the following actions are highly recommended due to the conflicting reviews:
- Direct and Thorough Communication: Contact Refuge RV Park via phone (651) 480-0444 or +1 651-480-0444 well in advance. Clearly articulate your needs and expectations, and carefully document all communications. Pay close attention to the responsiveness and clarity of the park's representatives.
- Confirm All Details in Writing: If making a reservation, request written confirmation of all agreed-upon terms, including dates, site type, rates, and any specific promises made regarding your stay.
- Clarify Cancellation Policies: Understand the cancellation and refund policies thoroughly before providing any payment.
- Consider Alternative Options: Due to the strong negative feedback regarding professionalism and reliability, it may be prudent to have alternative RV park options in the Hastings area or along your travel route as a backup.
- Review Recent Feedback: If possible, seek out more recent reviews or community discussions about the park to see if the issues raised have been addressed.
In conclusion, Refuge RV Park in Hastings, MN, presents a dichotomy: on one hand, it holds the potential to be a "slice of heaven" for its scenic beauty and tranquil environment. On the other hand, the serious concerns raised about professionalism, reliability, and customer treatment cannot be overlooked. For prospective RV campers, thorough due diligence, clear communication, and careful consideration of backup plans are essential steps before committing to a stay at Refuge RV Park.

Loved this slice of heaven! Thank you for having us!

Apr 16, 2025 · Michael ButtlemanA awesome place we stayed for a week back in June and everyone was friendly and helpful. Lee was a great owner and we will be back and hoping soon. My wife ,our baby kitten and myself had a relaxing week .The laundry and the club house was some very clean and available places. Our spot was one of the first ones in campground and we did not mind being close to the road and having cars pass by us many times throughout day. GREAT TIME
Aug 09, 2016 · David & Flobear ShaugobayNice clean park but the owner seems to have an issue with people traveling for work. Very rude and sarcastic to myself and other traveling workers during my stay. Other park employees were not this way.
Sep 23, 2023 · Bryce MontgomeryCan't speak highly enough about this place. The upkeep and cleanliness of the grounds are fantastic. The owner and camp host go out of their way to make sure you are taken care of. If I could give it 6 stars I would.
