According to recent reviews from guests, Sun Outdoors Lake Travis boasts a truly beautiful and peaceful environment. The resort is consistently described as well-maintained, indicating a commitment to providing a high-quality experience for all visitors. The natural surroundings of the Lake Travis area contribute to the overall tranquility, making it an attractive option for those looking to escape the everyday and immerse themselves in a serene setting. The presence of trees offering shade is also noted as a significant benefit, particularly during the warmer months.
The staff at Sun Outdoors Lake Travis are frequently commended for their friendly and helpful demeanor. This positive interaction with resort personnel can greatly enhance the overall guest experience, fostering a welcoming and supportive atmosphere. Whether you have questions about the resort amenities or need assistance during your stay, the staff appears to be dedicated to ensuring your comfort and satisfaction. This level of service is a key factor for many when choosing an RV park for their travels, especially for longer stays.
For families with young children, Sun Outdoors Lake Travis offers appealing features such as a playground conveniently located near some of the RV sites. This allows parents to easily supervise their little ones while they enjoy outdoor play. The resort's layout, with sites positioned close to amenities like the pool and park, is also highlighted as a significant convenience for families. This thoughtful planning contributes to a more relaxed and enjoyable vacation experience for those traveling with children.
However, one important consideration for families with toddlers, as noted by a recent guest, is a specific policy regarding the warm pool. During their stay, the resort began more strictly enforcing a rule that children are not permitted in the warm pool due to safety considerations. While the guest fully understood the rationale behind this rule, they pointed out that the alternative pool option for children, described by the staff as heated and kept at a comfortable temperature (the cold pool), was, in their experience and that of other guests, still too cold for young children and even adults to comfortably enjoy. This resulted in the pool area becoming noticeably quieter, and the family had to seek alternative forms of entertainment for their young children.
The guest who shared this experience still emphasized that Sun Outdoors Lake Travis is a wonderful resort and would absolutely recommend it to couples, solo travelers, or families with older children. They suggested that families with toddlers hoping to swim might find it a better fit during the summer months when the cold pool could feel more inviting. Their constructive feedback included a hope that the resort might consider adjusting the temperature of the cold pool during cooler seasons to accommodate all guests, particularly families with young children or grandchildren, so they can fully utilize the beautiful amenities.
For those planning longer stays, such as the three-month winter and one-month fall stays mentioned by another reviewer, Sun Outdoors Lake Travis appears to be a highly desirable option. This long-term guest specifically noted that after checking out other RV parks in the area due to price increases elsewhere, they found no other RV park as nice as Sun Outdoors. The spacious and well-maintained sites were a significant factor in their positive assessment. The availability of trees providing shade in the fall was also appreciated. While this reviewer also mentioned that they would prefer the pool to be heated, they still highly recommended the RV park overall.
The presence of a pavilion, frequently used by groups, suggests that Sun Outdoors Lake Travis is well-equipped to accommodate gatherings and social activities among guests. Additionally, the daily cleaning of the laundry rooms indicates a commitment to maintaining clean and convenient facilities for longer-term visitors and those who need to take care of laundry during their travels.
In summary, Sun Outdoors Lake Travis offers a compelling package for RV travelers seeking a high-quality experience near Austin and Lake Travis. Its beautiful and peaceful environment, friendly and helpful staff, spacious and well-maintained sites, and family-friendly features like a playground make it a strong contender within the "RV parks near me" category. While families with very young children should be aware of the current pool temperature limitations outside of the summer months, the resort remains highly recommended for other types of travelers. The positive feedback from long-term guests further underscores the appeal and quality of Sun Outdoors Lake Travis. For those seeking a memorable and comfortable RV stay in the Lake Travis area, contacting Sun Outdoors Lake Travis at (512) 266-8001 or +1 512-266-8001 is a worthwhile step to explore their offerings and availability.

Sun Outdoors Lake Travis Reviews
We’re currently staying here with our three- and one-year-old and have really enjoyed our time so far. The resort is beautiful, peaceful, and well-maintained. The staff and the community have been so kind, and the playground near our site has been perfect for our little ones. We chose a site to be close to the pool and park, which has been really convenient.Something to note for other families with young kids: during our stay, the resort began more strictly enforcing a rule that children aren’t allowed in the warm pool. We completely understand that this is based on safety considerations, but it’s helpful to know in advance—especially if pool time is a big part of your plans. The only pool option for children is the cold pool, which the staff have mentioned is heated and kept at a comfortable temperature. However, in our experience—and from chatting with all the other guests we’ve met—it still feels too cold for young children and even the adults to enjoy. Since the rule change, the pool area has been noticeably quiet. We’ve had to find other ways to entertain our littles. We respect the resort’s perspective, but just want to share what it’s actually been like during our stay, in case it helps other families with little ones plan ahead. This is still a wonderful resort, and we would absolutely recommend it to couples, solo travelers, or families with older children. For families with toddlers hoping to swim, this may be a better fit during the summer months when the cold pool might feel more inviting. Our hope is that the resort might consider turning up the temperature in the cold pool to accommodate for the seasons, so that all guests—especially families or those with grandchildren —can fully enjoy the beautiful amenities they’ve worked so hard to create. We’ve had a great stay, and just wanted to share our experience to help those with children plan accordingly!
Mar 26, 2025 · Aaste PalczewskiWe stay at Sun Outdoors 3 months in the winter and 1 month in the fall. We have checked out other RV parks when the prices started to increase about 3-4 years ago. There was no other RV parks around as nice as Sun Outdoors. The sites are spacious and well maintained. The staff is friendly and helpful. The trees provide wonderful shade in the fall. The pool is cold, we'd like it better if it was heated. The Pavillion is used by our group a lot. Laundry rooms are cleaned daily. I would highly recommend this RV park
Apr 04, 2025 · Elaine McCraeI’ve always wanted an RV and live in this resort since 4 years ago when I visited my friends living here and they had a big Mardi Gras parade that was so much fun and such a clean kept up place! Now I live here full time and I thought my life was going to be easier than living in an apartment but no.. I have to take leaves that come back the next day! Well since corporate has taken over their lawn service sucks! They don’t bag the leaves anymore and they are everywhere stopping the grass from growing and bringing in more bugs. There are ant piles everywhere because the lawn service doesn’t spray the yard even in the pool area by the tables they just sprinkle some white powder on the few piles that are reported but don’t look for. You have to buy your own grass seed for your yard if you don’t want nothing but weeds! There are roaches in the community center showers and it always smells! The fixtures are rusty, the lighting was bright but now super dim lights in the showers and bathrooms! The fees went up $300 for long term but the services have gone down! They need to bring back whoever was taking care of it 4 years ago.I’ll take this down when you start bagging leaves again and spraying for bugs!
Apr 02, 2025 · T L⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best RV Resort Ever – Feels Like Home! We’ve only been here for five hours, and we can already say this is the BEST RV resort we’ve ever visited! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and kindness. Sharon, Beth, and Josh were the first people we met at the office, and they instantly made us feel like family. Their hospitality set the tone for an incredible stay. The resort itself is absolutely stunning—the landscaping is beautiful, the amenities are amazing and well cared for, and everything feels top-notch. We’ve traveled to many RV resorts across the country, and this one truly stands out above the rest. It’s family-friendly, impeccably maintained, and designed with guests in mind.We can’t wait to enjoy everything this resort has to offer. If you’re looking for a place that goes above and beyond, this is it!
Mar 05, 2025 · Kisha BrownWe are now repeat customers! Fabulous staff. Everyone on staff is friendly and helpful. All the facilities are spotlessly clean and updated. The dog play areas are large and well cared for. Many of the lots have trees and there is a mostly shaded walking trail. The two laundry rooms are spacious with large folding tables.
