Sun Retreats Homosassa River Introduce
Are you searching for "RV parks near me" in the Homosassa Springs, Florida area? Sun Retreats Homosassa River, located at 10200 W Fishbowl Dr, Homosassa Springs, FL 34448, USA, offers a potentially appealing option for RV travelers seeking a well-situated campground with access to natural attractions. They can be contacted at (352) 628-2928 or +1 352-628-2928 for reservations and inquiries.
Based on recent customer reviews, Sun Retreats Homosassa River generally receives positive feedback, particularly regarding its staff and overall upkeep. One reviewer described it as a "very nice campground" with a "great staff" and "well-kept grounds," expressing their intention to return. This suggests a welcoming atmosphere and a commitment to maintaining a pleasant environment for guests.
Another reviewer echoed the sentiment of a "nice campground" and highlighted the presence of a pool as a significant plus. While they noted that the pool was "a little bit too hot to cool off" during their stay, they still acknowledged the benefit of having a pool on-site. This reviewer also pointed out the campground's convenient location, being just one mile from the renowned Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs State Park, a major draw for nature enthusiasts visiting the area. They also observed that the campground appeared to cater primarily to longer-term stays, although they were accommodated for a shorter two-night visit during what they perceived as the off-season.
However, this same reviewer also provided constructive feedback, indicating areas where Sun Retreats Homosassa River could enhance the guest experience. These recommendations include addressing safety concerns around the pool area, where the tiles were reported to be slippery even when dry, leading to a minor injury for a child and a near fall for the adult reviewer. They suggested replacing the tiles with a non-slip material to prevent accidents.
Another point of feedback concerned the bathroom access. The reviewer noted that the bathroom doors were locked with a code both day and night, questioning the necessity of this during all hours. They specifically reported that the provided code for the ladies' room did not work, rendering it inaccessible, even to staff members they witnessed attempting to enter. They recommended limiting the code access to nighttime hours if security was the primary concern.
A significant safety hazard was also mentioned: an uncovered electrical hole in the ground next to their site. The reviewer rightly pointed out the potential danger of this and advised immediate covering. This is a critical maintenance issue that needs prompt attention to ensure the safety of all guests.
The reviewer also mentioned that the campground is "subject to a little flooding with high tide," but noted that it did not disturb their stay. This is important information for potential visitors to be aware of, especially during periods of high tides or significant rainfall. Additionally, they inquired about the propane refill service, which was out of order due to a part replacement needed after previous flooding. The reviewer appreciated the clear instructions provided by the reception on where to obtain propane off-site, highlighting a helpful aspect of the staff service despite the unavailable amenity.
Overall, this detailed review paints a picture of a "nice campground with good facilities" but also identifies specific areas needing improvement, particularly concerning safety (slippery pool tiles, uncovered electrical hazard) and convenience (bathroom access, temporary unavailability of propane refill). The positive aspects include the friendly and helpful staff, well-maintained grounds, and its prime location near Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs State Park.
For local users searching for "RV parks near me" in the Homosassa Springs area, Sun Retreats Homosassa River offers a compelling location for exploring the natural beauty of the region, most notably the nearby state park, famous for its manatee viewing and diverse wildlife. The positive remarks about the staff and the upkeep of the grounds suggest a pleasant and well-managed environment in general.
However, potential guests should be mindful of the reported issues. The slippery pool tiles pose a safety risk, especially for children, and it would be prudent to inquire if this has been addressed. The restricted and potentially problematic bathroom access could be an inconvenience. The uncovered electrical hole is a serious safety concern that hopefully has been rectified. Finally, understanding the potential for minor flooding during high tides and the current status of the propane refill service (if needed) would be beneficial for planning a stay.
Despite these areas for improvement, the positive feedback regarding the staff's helpfulness and the overall niceness of the campground suggests that Sun Retreats Homosassa River could still be a worthwhile option for RVers looking to explore the Homosassa Springs area. The proximity to a major attraction like Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs State Park is a significant feature that many nature-loving RV travelers will appreciate.
For local users searching for "RV parks near me," Sun Retreats Homosassa River offers a blend of positive attributes and areas where potential guests might want to seek clarification or ensure improvements have been made. The friendly staff and well-maintained grounds are definite pluses, and the location is ideal for exploring local natural wonders. However, inquiring about the pool safety, bathroom access procedures, and the resolution of the electrical hazard would be advisable before booking a stay. The information about potential flooding during high tide might also influence the timing of a visit for some.
In conclusion, Sun Retreats Homosassa River in Homosassa Springs, Florida, appears to be a generally well-regarded RV park with a great location near a major state park and commendable staff. While some areas for improvement have been identified by recent guests, addressing these concerns could further enhance the experience. For local RV enthusiasts seeking a base to explore the natural beauty of the Homosassa River area, this campground is worth considering, with a recommendation to inquire about the specific issues raised in the reviews to ensure a comfortable and safe stay.

Sun Retreats Homosassa River Reviews
Very nice campground. Great staff. Grounds are welcome kept. Will come back.
May 01, 2025 · Malcolm StienekerThis is a nice campground with a pool which is however a little bit too hot to cool off after a hot day. Nevertheless, they have a pool which is always a plus. The campground is one mile from Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs State Park. It is mainly used for longer term stays we guess, but we were there just out of season. We stayed for two nights only.Still room for improvement though 🙂 hereby some recommendations:- The tiles around the pool were slippery even when dry. My eight year old daughter glided away and hurt herself falling while just stepping out of the pool. I glided away myself as well without falling. It would be better to have other non slippery tiles.- The bathroom doors were locked with a code day and night. Why? If you do this after 11pm perhaps… The (right) code at the ladies room did not work, causing the ladies room becoming inaccessible, even for staff we saw. I would advice only to active the code at night if you must.- An electra hole in the ground next to our site was uncovered causing a possible danger if you step into it. Better to cover it as soon as possible. The campground is subject to a little flooding with high tide, but it did not disturb us. There is a propane refill possibility, but when we were there it was out of service: due to previous flooding a part needed to be replaced and it had not arrived yet after a week. The lady at the reception gave us clear instructions to get it elsewhere off the campground, which was helpful. Overall a nice campground with good facilities.
Aug 29, 2024 · Paul Op 't EijndeGreat place to stay a while. Customer service is outstanding , showers well maintained and clean with a large laundry room that is shared with the public. Caution: Bring your card to pay for washing because coins or cash are not accepted. Big rigs beware... the roads are tight but not impossible to maneuver, but sites are wide.
Mar 01, 2024 · K Marie HodgeWe ended up staying here at the last minute stop with our rv. Booking reservation was easy and the park was in pristine condition! There are both seasonal people who are more long-term residents as well as people who just pop in like us for an overnight state or two. It's in close proximity to the Rainbow Springs we would definitely stay here again! Heated pool, fun activities all year round, a really good feeling of community and even a golf putting course that is along the sides of the road! It's not a traditional Putt-Putt but the residents were playing and walking around and it was very fun to see! We also played shuffleboard and one of the residents told us the rules of the game which made it even more fun!
Feb 03, 2023 · Brigit KowalczykThe only thing that would make this place better would be if they were on the river! 4 adults stayed in one cabin for 2 nights. There was plenty of room but the pullout couch was a little small. There wasn’t much bedding provided but we made it work. Would definitely stay again
