The Colonies RV Travel Park & Country Store Reviews
The Colonies is a great place to get away to. However, it's not of the beaten path. It is just out of the way to be comfortable. Just down the street is the Pacific Ocean Club. A pay to enter beach club with all the amenities. Things to see and places to go are within a 20-minute ride. The staff at the Colonies are truly friendly and accommodating. A winning combo.
Nov 23, 2024 · Shane LadenNice RV park on old Ft Monroe Army Base surrounded by water. Short walk to the beach and old defense buildings. Staff is very friendly. Nice store with laundry and club house. We'd love to stay here during the summer, nice shady spots with FHU.
Oct 28, 2024 · Tom CrombieI'm struggling rating this campground. Our spot was large and pretty nice, the employees were friendly and they had some decent amenities. There were also some pretty views of the water. There was only one washer and one dryer. Someone had jammed the coin slide on the dryer and you couldn't use it, so we had to go to a laundry mat. The club house needs a little refresh. You can't use the beach across the street, however, drive down the road about a mile and there is public beach access with free parking. This area has a lot of abandoned forts and stuff leftover from an old military base. It's kind of cool in a way, but you can't explore any of it due to fencing, cameras, security, etc. Finally, the bugs here are terrible! One of the worst areas we have ever been to. The second you walk outside your camper they will come in swarms to try to eat you. Bugs love my spouse, but always leave me alone. The bugs here did not leave me alone. Due to the bug issue, we didn't spend any time outside our camper. We went to the beach, the botanical gardens and explored away from the campground.
Aug 15, 2024 · Will GausmanWe’ve camped here many years. It’s a special retreat away from I-64 traffic and crime-ridden Hampton. You’ll see blue heron, beautiful sunrises on the Bay and sunsets on the Hampton River. The Fort, Old Point Comfort Lighthouse and Gulick Dr. boardwalk are a short bike ride away with breweries and distilleries nearby. Beach access, Casemate museum and crumbling artillery batteries make this a trip to remember.
Oct 06, 2024 · Kristy FowlerI was pleasantly surprised by this location. My group of campers enjoyed the views and the amenities offered.I was particularly impressed with the cleanliness of the clubhouse, showers, and restrooms. I will be recommending this campground to everyone from now on.The camp owners are welcoming and helpful, delivering everything from firewood and a fire pit to local tips.
