The reviews consistently highlight the welcoming atmosphere, excellent management, and unique features that make this park a standout choice for both short and long-term stays.
Numerous reviewers were particularly impressed by the hosts, Shari and Don. They are described as "the best hosts" one could ask for, being "so attentive" and taking "excellent care of the park." Their regular presence and dedication to ensuring everything is in order contribute significantly to the positive experience reported by guests. One reviewer specifically mentioned a unique situation requiring two spots for their fifth wheel and their daughter's camper, and Shari's ability to "work her magic" to accommodate them close together, showcasing a willingness to go above and beyond for their guests.
The environment of Whispering Winds RV Park is consistently praised for its peacefulness. Tucked away off the main highway in a quiet area of Lyman, the park benefits from very little traffic noise. While the sound of a distant daily train horn can be heard, it is noted to be "quite a ways away and not bothersome at all," striking a pleasant balance between natural tranquility and the subtle sounds of the surrounding area. This serene setting makes it an ideal escape for those looking to relax and unwind away from the hustle and bustle.
For convenience and comfort, Whispering Winds RV Park offers a laundry room on-site, which guests found to be "always clean and fresh." Even during a four-month stay, one reviewer only had to wait once to use the machines, indicating ample availability. The residents of the park are also described as "quiet and clean," contributing to a "lovely atmosphere" throughout the community.
In today's connected world, reliable internet access is often a necessity, and Whispering Winds RV Park provides "WiFi throughout the campground." Guests found the service to be "pretty decent," sufficient for checking emails, doing computer work, and even streaming television shows. While occasional interruptions were noted, the fact that it is included in the lot price was seen as a significant benefit, exceeding expectations for complimentary campground WiFi.
One of the most unique and cherished features of Whispering Winds RV Park, according to multiple reviewers, is the "little walking trail." This trail begins at the end or top of the park and winds behind the RV sites, connecting to not one but two dog parks. It then loops back down behind another row of campers and reconnects with the main road entering the park. The trail is approximately a quarter mile in one direction, making a daily walk of half a mile possible. Pet owners, particularly those with dogs like pugs, highlighted this trail as a major highlight of their stay, providing a safe and enjoyable space for their daily exercise and exploration. While one reviewer noted occasional instances of other pet owners not picking up after their animals, they also observed an improvement over time, emphasizing the importance of responsible pet ownership to maintain the park's cleanliness and appeal.
The overall experience at Whispering Winds RV Park has left a lasting positive impression on its guests. One reviewer, who moved on to another park in Georgia, explicitly stated that they already missed being at Whispering Winds, referring to it as "truly a gem." They even drove through many other parks in the area and reaffirmed their initial positive assessment, giving Whispering Winds a "5 out of 5 stars in every way!!!" Another guest who stayed during a long-distance move in their travel trailer described their stay as "magnificent," praising the cleanliness, friendliness, beautiful nature, and lack of traffic noise, with the hiking trail becoming a "daily ritual" where they observed local wildlife and fungi.
While the reviews provide extensive positive feedback on the environment, management, and unique features like the walking trail and dog parks, specific details about the types of RV sites (e.g., pull-through or back-in), hookup availability (water, electricity, sewer), or any specific promotional offers are not mentioned. However, the consistent praise for the overall experience suggests that the basic necessities and the added amenities contribute to a high level of guest satisfaction.

Whispering Winds RV Park Reviews
We were 1000% spoiled to have found this park and had the chance to stay at Whispering Winds RV park. You truly could not ask for better hosts. Shari and Don were so attentive and take excellent care of the park. They are there several times a week making sure everything is in order.I had a unique situation that we needed two spots for our 5th wheel as well as my daughter's camper and Shari worked her magic and got us both situated as close to each other as possible. We ended up with just one camper between us... and it was perfect. This park is truly a surprise, it's tucked off the main highway in a quiet area in Lyman. There is very little traffic noise, its there but its in the distance as well as the daily train horn... its there, its quite a ways away and not bothersome at all. There is a laundry room at the park which is always clean and fresh and I only had to wait once in 4 months to use the machines. All of the residents of the park are quiet and clean. It's a lovely atmosphere. There is also WiFi throughout the campground. It's actually pretty decent. Enough to do my emails and computer work and enough to stream a tv show. It cuts in and out from time to time, but it's included in the price of the lot, and you cant ask for much more than that.By far, my favorite thing about the park is the little walking trail that connects from the end/top of the park and winds behind all the campers, connects to a dog park, drops back down behind the next row of campers and then connects again at the main road entering into the park as well as the second dog park. The trail is about a quarter mile one direction, so we would walk every single day with our pugs through the trail and back which was a half a mile a day. It was perfect. The pugs loved walking through the trail, it was the highlight of their day for sure.We were very diligent about picking up our pets waste, unfortunately there were a few times we came across others waste, but it started to improve the longer we were there. Just please do everyone around you a favor and always pick up your pets waste. Even when it's slightly off trail... just pick it up. It keeps the area safe and clean. Which is something we really loved about this park.We are now at an another park down in Georgia for about 3 months and I can say I already miss being at Whispering Winds. It truly is a gem. We even got to drive through many other parks around the area and again, we were so lucky to have stayed at this park. It's a hidden gem and I give it a 5 out of 5 stars in every way!!!
Jan 21, 2025 · Soul MotoWe stayed here during a long distance stay while we first moved to the area in our travel trailer. Everything about our stay here was magnificent, clean, friendly, beautiful nature, and no traffic noise. The hiking trial is so special and became a daily ritual for us. We saw lots of wildlife and fungi in the woods. Can’t ask for a better place to park our trailer in the area. Thank you so much Whispering Winds!
Nov 20, 2024 · Eric DailyWe’ve really enjoyed our stays at Whispering Winds the last couple of years. It is a GREAT monthly campground with roomy sites, a spotless laundry facility, a nature trail, and two dog parks. If you’re loud and messy, you’ll want to consider something else. The rules are super strict and for good reason. Best part… Don and Shari. They have been an incredible blessing to us. We proudly recommend this campground and look forward to staying there again.
Dec 08, 2023 · Ryan TeterStayed with the nice folks at Whispering Winds for 2 years while working in the area. Can’t say enough good things about them, and would definitely recommend!
Feb 27, 2025 · JasonWhispering Winds is THE BEST campground in the upstate!!! I spent a few months trying to scout out the best campground around, not finding but a few desirable locations. I even landed at a nice campground before WW, but after arriving at WW I realized that it didn’t even compare. Whispering Winds has spacious sites for each camper/RV, a great laundry room with reasonably priced loads, and is well secluded from the city life but not too far for an easy morning commute or afternoon visit! All though all of these things are great, the owners of this campground make the difference. Don and Shari run a great place and treat each of their guests like their own.
