It’s a love hate relationship honestly. The town is known for their train ports so you expect it, but this is a whole new level of learning trains lol. It’s not like the people there are bad. I wouldn’t go back just because of the trains being so active and being to close to a crossing, so the train starts blowing its horn right at the site (you can hear it loud and clear in the camper). We were on one of the sites that were farthest away from the tracks but I couldn’t imagine being the campers 100ft from the tracks (I tried to get a picture to show). They make you sign a contract whether it’s a week or a month etc. and that states no refunds and they mean it when they say it, which I could see why. I stay home full time so I got to really know the trains well and they come by frequently (every half an hour to an hour). The dog park is a maybe 20 x 10 area that’s all gravel and that’s so close to the train tracks that the one day I saw the conductor in the train. Cool but crazy and luckily it was going slow because a lot of them send you running for the camper hearing the nails on a chalk board sound rolling by. I did kind of feel bad for my dog because the month we were there she basically had to poop and pee on gravel the whole time. Expect for the 3 places we could take her to use the bathroom where there was a little bit of grass. The hook ups seem farther away from the campers and are some what odd. We shared a water spicket with the people next to us (picture below), weird but never gave a problem. They advertise the pricing as $600 a month plus electric, but with the $150 deposit they have you pay and the taxes, it’s comes out to $870 the first month, they put your deposit towards the first electric bill and per SC state law they can charge you taxes for the first three months. So if you stay that long it’s never actually $600 until month 4. Over all though the site is in close proximity to downtown Greer, it’s super cute and has some fun places to go! - Sophie Parker

If you're searching for "RV Parks Near Me" in the Greer, South Carolina area, 290 RV Park, located at 1836 E Poinsett Street Extension, Greer, SC 29651, USA, presents a location with a mix of positive and negative feedback from recent visitors. Understanding these experiences is crucial for making an informed decision about whether this park suits your needs for a short-term stopover or a longer stay.

One recurring theme in the reviews is the significant presence of train traffic. Greer is reportedly known for its train ports, and one long-term visitor described their experience as a "love hate relationship" primarily due to the frequent and loud trains. Situated close to a crossing, the park experiences trains blowing their horns directly at the site, which can be heard "loud and clear" even from sites farther away from the tracks. This reviewer, who stayed for a month and a half, noted that trains passed by frequently, approximately every half an hour to an hour. For light sleepers or those sensitive to noise, this could be a major drawback.

However, another visitor who stayed for a shorter period in September 2021 found the park to be "one of the best maintained RV parks we have ever stayed in" and described it as "definitely quiet as far as other campers." This suggests that noise levels from within the park itself are well-managed. While they did note the presence of trains, they mentioned being accustomed to train noise and therefore it did not bother them. This highlights that the impact of the train noise can be subjective and depend on individual tolerance.

Regarding the RV sites themselves, the short-term visitor in 2021 described the lots as "nice and wide and with plenty of clean gravel" and "pretty level," which is often appreciated by RVers for ease of setup. In contrast, the long-term visitor mentioned that the hookups seemed "farther away from the campers" and described a shared water spigot with a neighboring site as "weird" but not problematic. This suggests that while the sites may be spacious and level, the utility connections might have a less conventional layout.

For pet owners, 290 RV Park offers a dog park, although the long-term visitor described it as a small, approximately 20x10 foot area that is entirely gravel. They expressed concern for their dog having to use gravel for bathroom breaks for an entire month, with only three small grassy areas available elsewhere. The proximity of the dog park to the train tracks was also noted, with the reviewer observing a train conductor from the dog park. While this might be an interesting novelty, the noise and proximity to potentially fast-moving trains could be a concern for some pet owners.

Pricing and contractual terms are also important considerations. 290 RV Park requires signing a contract for stays as short as a week, which includes a "no refunds" policy that the long-term visitor found to be strictly enforced, though they understood the reasoning behind it. The advertised monthly rate of $600 plus electric was reported to be significantly higher for the first three months due to a $150 deposit and state taxes. The first month reportedly totaled $870, with the deposit applied to the first electric bill. According to the reviewer, South Carolina state law allows taxes to be charged for the first three months, meaning the $600 monthly rate is not realized until the fourth month of stay. This discrepancy between the advertised price and the initial cost is crucial for potential long-term visitors to be aware of.

Despite the drawbacks related to train noise and pricing transparency, 290 RV Park does have a significant advantage in its location. The long-term visitor noted its "close proximity to downtown Greer," which they described as "super cute" with "some fun places to go." This accessibility to local amenities, restaurants, and attractions in Greer could be a significant draw for those wanting to explore the area.

Regarding on-site facilities, the short-term visitor in 2021 pointed out a notable absence: "there isn't any bath room/shower/laundry facility at all. So you better be able to use the bathroom in your camper." This lack of essential communal facilities is a significant limitation for RVers who might prefer or need access to these amenities. It is also a crucial piece of information for anyone considering a stay at 290 RV Park.

To summarize the environment, 290 RV Park is located near active train lines in Greer, SC, resulting in frequent and loud train noise that may be disruptive for some. The park itself is reported to be well-maintained and quiet in terms of other campers. Its proximity to downtown Greer offers convenient access to local attractions. However, the lack of bathroom, shower, and laundry facilities is a notable limitation.

In terms of services and features, the park offers RV sites with gravel pads and hookups (though the layout may be somewhat unconventional, including shared water spigots). There is a small, gravel dog park. The management requires a contract even for short stays and enforces a no-refund policy. Pricing for longer stays can be higher than the advertised rate for the first three months due to a deposit and state taxes.

There is no promotional information provided in the reviews. Therefore, potential visitors should contact 290 RV Park directly at (864) 303-1575 or +1 864-303-1575 to inquire about current rates, availability, specific site details, and any potential long-term stay discounts or policies regarding the train noise. It would also be wise to clarify the total cost for the intended duration of stay, including any deposits and taxes, to avoid unexpected expenses.

In conclusion, 290 RV Park in Greer, SC, offers a maintained environment with spacious sites and proximity to downtown. However, the significant train noise and the absence of communal bathroom, shower, and laundry facilities are crucial drawbacks to consider. Additionally, the pricing structure for longer stays may be less straightforward than initially advertised. For those searching for "RV Parks Near Me" in Greer, weighing these pros and cons based on your individual needs and preferences is essential before making a reservation at 290 RV Park.
