If you're searching for "RV parks near me" and appreciate a setting that emphasizes the outdoors, peace, and quiet, Windmill Crossing RV Park emerges as a highly recommended option based on glowing reviews from its residents and visitors. This park, established approximately five years ago by Nancy, has cultivated a strong sense of community among its long-term residents while also welcoming those traveling through for shorter stays.
One long-term resident, who has lived at Windmill Crossing RV Park for over two years, enthusiastically shared their experience, stating that after looking at numerous places from Pleasanton to San Antonio to New Braunfels, they "definitely picked the right spot." This strong endorsement speaks volumes about the park's appeal and the satisfaction of its residents. The fact that some individuals have been living there since the park's inception further underscores the positive and stable environment that Nancy has created.
The environment of Windmill Crossing RV Park is a major highlight, particularly for those who "appreciate the outdoors and peace and quiet." Residents frequently encounter local wildlife, including families of foxes, roadrunners, and owls whose nocturnal communications provide a natural soundtrack. The presence of Nancy's cattle roaming in nearby pastures adds to the rural charm and provides a unique visual element. Bird watchers will be delighted by the abundance of bird feeders, which attract a wide variety of species year-round, with hummingbirds being particularly prevalent from April to October. This immersion in nature offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Interestingly, one reviewer noted, "Who needs amenities when you have nature?" This suggests that while the park may not boast an extensive list of traditional RV park amenities, the natural beauty and peaceful surroundings more than compensate for any perceived lack. For those who prioritize a connection with nature and a quiet atmosphere, Windmill Crossing RV Park offers a compelling alternative to amenity-heavy resorts.
For exercise and recreation, residents and visitors can take advantage of the park's natural layout, walking the long driveway, the park roads, or even the pasture. This encourages an active lifestyle within a scenic environment. The park's location strikes a balance between rural tranquility and urban accessibility, being only approximately 25 minutes away from the city of San Antonio. This proximity allows for easy access to city amenities and attractions when needed, while still providing the benefits of living outside the urban sprawl.
The sense of community and the park's standards are also noteworthy. The reviewer specifically mentioned, "You won’t find trashy trailers here or loud partiers," indicating a well-maintained environment with a respectful and considerate resident population. The existence of "some rules" is seen as a positive aspect, contributing to the peaceful and orderly atmosphere that residents appreciate. This suggests that Nancy, the owner, takes pride in maintaining a certain standard within the park, ensuring a pleasant living experience for all.
Another visitor who stayed at Windmill Crossing RV Park echoed the sentiment of tranquility, describing it as "such a quiet place to stay" and expressing anticipation for a return visit. This reinforces the park's reputation as a peaceful retreat.
In terms of services and features, while specific details about hookups (water, electricity, sewer), Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, or restrooms are not explicitly mentioned in the reviews, the positive experiences of long-term residents imply that the essential services are likely in place and reliable. The emphasis on nature and quiet suggests that the park's primary features are its natural environment, peaceful atmosphere, and strong sense of community, rather than a long list of modern amenities.

Windmill Crossing RV Park Reviews
My husband and I have been full-timers here for the last 2+ years and we love living here. We looked at a dozen places from Pleasanton to San Antonio to New Braunfels and we definitely picked the right spot.I’m told that Nancy opened the park about five years ago and there are some who have been here from the beginning and I love that about the place. You just won’t want to leave unless you have to. Nancy also offers several spots for those traveling through for only days or weeks. If you appreciate the outdoors and peace and quiet, this is your place. Last night I fell asleep to the owls communicating. There is a family of foxes that make appearances from time to time and a roadrunner that lives around here. Nancy has cattle in the pasture that roam nearby. My bird feeders are overwhelmed year round and it’s hard to keep up with the hummingbirds from April to October.Who needs amenities when you have nature? For exercise we walk the long driveway, the park roads, or the pasture. We are only 25 minutes from San Antonio and grateful to be living out of the city, yet close enough to go when needed. You won’t find trashy trailers here or loud partiers. There are some rules and that too is why we love it. I noticed there weren’t any updated posts and I hope this helps others to consider this piece of paradise.PS…I have no shortage of beautiful sunset pics but these are my favorites.
Dec 14, 2022 · strohsoverallI loved staying here. It was such a quiet place to stay. I worked while my wife was with her family. Can't wait to go back.
Nov 21, 2023 · Sal YanezThe most quiet and relaxing RV park I have seen in a long time really gives you the Philippine in the country
Jan 13, 2025 · Raymond BerndtWhat a great place to stay. My husband was recently working in the area and we were lucky enough to find this hidden gem! When I called to check availability and the owners reply was ComeOn I knew we’d found a special place! Nancy is one in a million, she’s an amazing person and I wish we’d have had the opportunity to sit and chat I’m sure she’s got lots of stories to tell about her ranch here in Texas. The park itself is just what you need if you’re looking for quiet and relaxing. This was honestly THE quietest park we’ve ever stayed at. The sunsets are beautiful, the other campers are just nice, respectful and welcoming. Take a chance on this place, you won’t be disappointed.
Oct 31, 2020 · Patti CoxGood overnight stop, nice long spot with easy pull in at a fair price. The spots are mowed grass with some gravel. Pet friendly and no stickers.La Vernia Den is a great spot for a meal. It has a nice, big outside eating area with beautiful trees and a playground area for the kids to run around after a day traveling.
