Zachary Taylor Waterfront RV Resort Introduce
Are you looking for "RV parks near me" in the Okeechobee, Florida, area, perhaps one with waterfront access and a strong sense of community? Zachary Taylor Waterfront RV Resort, located at 2995 US-441, Okeechobee, FL 34974, USA, has garnered varied feedback from its guests. While praised for its welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff, some concerns have been raised regarding site sizes, park density, and recent changes in management. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview based on the available customer reviews to help you determine if Zachary Taylor Waterfront RV Resort aligns with your needs.
Zachary Taylor Waterfront RV Resort is situated on the waterfront, suggesting potential opportunities for boating and fishing. This could be a significant draw for those seeking "RV parks near me" with direct access to water-based activities. The park appears to cater to both short-term visitors and those looking for a winter retreat in the Sunshine State.
Environment: Crowded Yet Private with Waterfront Potential
Several reviewers highlight the "real community vibe" at Zachary Taylor Waterfront RV Resort, noting that both guests and staff are welcoming and accepting. This friendly atmosphere can be a significant advantage for those seeking a social and inclusive environment among "RV parks near me." The positive interactions with fellow guests and the helpfulness of the staff contribute to a sense of belonging.
However, a significant concern raised by multiple reviewers is the "extreme population density" and the fact that the "sites are EXTREMELY close together." This high density might be a trade-off for the park's popularity as a winter destination for northerners seeking a piece of Florida sunshine. While one reviewer noted that despite the crowding, their site felt "very private seemingly," others experienced the tight spacing more acutely, particularly regarding the size and quality of their assigned site.
One reviewer described being placed on a "very small (much smaller and more narrow than other sites) on an uneven grass site," despite paying the same monthly fee as others with larger gravel sites. This inconsistency in site quality and size, despite the cost, is a point of concern for potential long-term visitors. Additionally, this reviewer reported issues with fire ants on their site, which were not addressed unless the hills were active.
Parking also appears to be a challenge, with narrow roads "meant for one vehicle only" and parking being "at a premium" with occasional "fights" over spaces. This could be a significant inconvenience for those traveling with larger vehicles or needing extra parking.
The park is described as "older" with "many permanent old trailer models and permanent campers," which might influence the overall aesthetic and infrastructure of the resort compared to newer "RV parks near me."
The location in Okeechobee is also mentioned as being somewhat remote from east coast attractions like beaches, which are reportedly over an hour's drive away. The reviewer also noted that there isn't "much to do in Okeechobee" itself, which might be a consideration for those seeking a destination with a wide range of off-site activities.
Despite these drawbacks, the waterfront location remains a key environmental feature, offering potential for boating and fishing, although details about the accessibility and quality of the waterfront facilities are limited.
Services and Features: Friendly Staff and a Range of Activities
Positive feedback is consistently given regarding the staff at Zachary Taylor Waterfront RV Resort. Reviewers specifically mention the friendliness and helpfulness of the "ladies in the office," the "maintenance crew," and the park manager, Eric. This suggests a well-run facility with a customer-oriented approach.
The park offers a variety of amenities and activities, including "pickleball courts," a "nice pool" (though one reviewer noted it wasn't cleaned of debris regularly), a "nice pavilion," a "rec hall," and a "laundry area." The mention of "numerous activities planned" and "music and dance" events indicates an effort to keep residents and visitors engaged and entertained, contributing to the reported community vibe.
One specific activity highlighted is "water aerobics with Wallie," which was described as "wonderful." This suggests that the park offers organized fitness and recreational programs.
The potential for boating and fishing, alluded to by the waterfront location, is another significant feature for those interested in these activities. However, details about boat ramps, docks, or any associated fees are not provided.

Zachary Taylor Waterfront RV Resort Reviews
Zachary Taylor RV Resort is such a well run facility. From the ladies in the office, to the maintenance crew, to the Eric, the park manager, we were treated like friends. We've spent sixteen consecutive days here and have really enjoyed our experience. There is a real community vibe at this park. Guests and staff are equally welcoming and accepting. The biggest concern we had was the extreme population density. There are more lots here than you could imagine, but it's Florida. All of us northerners are looking for a little piece of the Sunshine State during the winter.Despite how many rigs there are squeezed into this property, it is very private seemingly. We have really enjoyed our time here.
Jan 25, 2025 · Paul S. GermoWe decided to come here for part of the winter at our friends’ review of the place since they had been here the past few years. Apparently management has changed now and the place appears more rundown in their opinion. I don’t normally write bad reviews but felt I had to do it for this place. The Pros: most people said hello as you passed them on the street or chatted in the pool. Water aerobics with Wallie was wonderful!! Visiting with our friends was the best! There’s pickleball courts, a nice pool although it didn’t get cleaned of debris regularly, nice pavilion, rec hall, laundry area. There are numerous activities planned. The music and dance were fun! If you have a boat and fish this place might be for you.Cons: sites are EXTREMELY close together. We were given a site we were told when making our reservation last year that our camper would fit. We were put in a very small(much smaller and more narrow than other sites) on an uneven grass site. We paid the same monthly fee as others with larger gravel sites. Our site was full of fire ants not just in hills but in the grass. I got numerous bites. They would not spray unless the hills were active We have a 1 ton truck and struggled to park it in front of our camper off the road. Parking is at a premium and at times seems to be a “fight” over who can park where. The roads are very narrow meant for one vehicle only. It’s an older, small park with many permanent old trailer models and permanent campers. Also, going to the east coast is 1hr 15min or more to do fun things or go to the beach. There’s not much to do in Okeechobee. We will not be returning.
Feb 25, 2025 · Joan RothenayDO NOT ARRIVE AFTER DUSK!!! They will not be able to get you parked in your spot if you don’t arrive during daylight hours! We got there at dusk and had to be in a site overnight then moved the next morning which isn’t ideal. They have people packed in like sardines!!!Okeechobee does not have much to offer other than a great dairy farm called Sutton Farm….. their milk, beef, and ice cream is absolutely fantastic!!The park itself is quite nice after we got over feeling smooshed. It’s well kept and there is a lot to do in the park itself…… nice gym, nice pool area, bikes for rent, pickle ball, bocce ball/petanque. Entertainment on Saturdays, potlucks. The laundry is nice, lots of machines. Bathrooms/showers are well kept (all of us sneezed multiple times when showering which is odd…. maybe the cleaning products used?).A lot of permanent residents and A LOT of snowbirds, pretty much everyone is very nice and welcoming. Al, who works there is an absolute treasure!!
