5 Diamond Campgrounds Introduce
Looking for a straightforward and conveniently located campground in the "camping near me" category around Hartford, Illinois? Consider 5 Diamond Campgrounds, situated at 429 Confluence Tower Dr. While described by some visitors as a basic, gravel campground, 5 Diamond Campgrounds offers a range of practical amenities and a friendly atmosphere, making it a solid choice for various camping needs, from overnight stops to longer-term stays, especially for those working in the local refineries or exploring the St. Louis area.
For travelers passing through and wishing to explore the sights of St. Louis, 5 Diamond Campgrounds provides an easily accessible location. The reviews highlight its convenient proximity to attractions like the iconic Gateway Arch, making it a practical base for sightseeing excursions. Additionally, its location offers an easy walk to the Louis & Clark Confluence Tower, a notable local landmark.
The campground primarily caters to self-contained RV campers, as noted by a visitor who experienced the hookups being located behind their parking space. While this setup might require extra hoses for a longer stay with full hookups, it was manageable for a brief overnight visit where only electric hookup was necessary for air conditioning. This suggests that while basic, the essential utility connections are available.
Despite being a newer campground, 5 Diamond Campgrounds has garnered praise for its exceptional staff. Multiple reviewers have described the office personnel as friendly and helpful, particularly during the reservation process. One long-term camper even stated that the staff is "above and beyond friendly," ranking them among the friendliest they have encountered in their extensive travels. This emphasis on customer service contributes significantly to a positive camping experience.
One of the standout features of 5 Diamond Campgrounds is its prime location for cycling enthusiasts. The campground boasts direct access to an 18.5-mile bike trail, which also connects to several other trails, offering a fantastic opportunity to explore the local scenery on two wheels. This direct trail access is a significant advantage for campers who enjoy biking and provides a healthy and enjoyable recreational option right from the campground.
While the campground is still developing, with one reviewer mentioning the recent planting of 70 white pines to mitigate some highway noise in the future, it currently offers a relatively clean and quiet environment, aside from some road noise. The long-term vision for the campground seems to include further improvements based on camper feedback.
For those requiring extended stays, particularly individuals working at the nearby refineries, 5 Diamond Campgrounds offers a significant advantage in terms of commute time. Being just six minutes away with minimal traffic makes it an ideal location for refinery workers seeking a convenient and comfortable place to stay during their work assignments. The presence of other longer-term campers, who were described as friendly, suggests a sense of community among the residents.
Addressing the needs of travelers, 5 Diamond Campgrounds offers several helpful services. These include a drop-off laundry service, a camper cleaning service, and even grocery shopping upon request. The campground also features a stocked store with basic necessities, and the management is open to carrying specific items based on customer requests, demonstrating a commitment to catering to the needs of their guests.
In terms of connectivity, 5 Diamond Campgrounds excels in providing excellent Verizon signal and internet service. While one reviewer noted a slightly inconvenient initial login process for the internet, they also mentioned that the management is actively working on improving this aspect, indicating a responsiveness to customer feedback and a desire to enhance the overall guest experience.
Looking towards future improvements, based on the feedback received, potential additions to 5 Diamond Campgrounds might include a shower house, a dedicated laundry area, and a small dog park, catering to the needs of the growing number of campers with pets. These potential developments suggest that the campground management is attentive to the suggestions of their guests and aims to enhance the facilities over time.
In conclusion, 5 Diamond Campgrounds offers a basic yet highly convenient camping option within the "camping near me" category in Hartford, Illinois. Its strategic location near St. Louis attractions and local bike trails, coupled with its friendly staff, essential services like laundry and grocery shopping, and excellent internet connectivity, make it a practical choice for overnight travelers, refinery workers seeking longer-term accommodation, and anyone looking for a no-frills camping experience with access to key local amenities and attractions. While it may lack some of the more extensive amenities of larger campgrounds, its focus on friendly service and practical conveniences makes it a worthwhile consideration for your next camping stop in the area. 5 Diamond Campgrounds Reviews
This was a good location for traveling through, wanting to see a few sights in St. Louis. It is a basic, gravel campground. You need to be self-contained. We were in site 10. The hookups were all behind our parking space, so would have required multiple hoses, etc. Doable, but since we were only there 1 night, we opted to only hook up electric (we needed the a/c!). Easy drive into St. Louis to check out The Arch. Easy walk to the Louis & Clark Confluence Tower. Office staff was friendly and helpful when we were making reservations. OK for overnight or two. Other campers were friendly and seemed to be there for a longer period - working. Some highway noise. GREAT Verizon signal and internet!!!
May 20, 2024 · Susan SchwadererGreat place to stay clean and quiet other than the noise from the road but they do have 70 white pines planted just gonna take them a little while to grow and it’ll definitely help. If you like to bike no better campground with the trail directly behind the campground. 18.5 miles in total but you can get to several other trails to here it’s quite amazing. Directly next to the Lewis and Clark tower. Yes this is a new campground so I would imagine there would be more to come down the road as they hear request and reviews. The staff is above and beyond friendly. Like probably one of the friendliest I’ve ever dealt with and I travel a lot in my camper. They do offer a drop off laundry service. A camper cleaning service. They will grocery shop for you if you need it. There is a stocked store with basics and if you would like them to carry something particular they will. As for the campground down the road with more amenities and 100$ cheaper I have stayed there and when you step out of your camper you can place your hand on your neighbors slide while still standing on your last step. If you’re traveling and working at the refinery this is amazing you are six minutes from the job. With pretty much no traffic. I’m on my third month here and have no real complaints. It would be nice to see a shower house and laundry area down the road and possibly a small dog park because quite a few of us have dogs out here. Oh the Internet is also really good but the way you have to sign onto it kind of stinks but they said they are working on changing that.
May 11, 2021 · AllyCats OdysseyBasically a chat parking lot for 750$ a month right on the highway. Owned by a rv dealership with a rude receptionist. Full hook up and the sound of the factory’s in the area are great :) not nurse friendly. They also offer a bathhouse for the 50+ spots and its two porta potty that hobos sleep in and there disgusting because they never clean it or empty it. Yes They will charge you for breathing their air. They pack you in like sardines you barely get a front “yard” to park your vehicle or a extra vehicle
Nov 07, 2024 · William CookTalk about LOCATION. There is almost an unlimited amount of well kept mowed grass. Between 5 Diamond and the Tower (park with tables, shade and a garden!) gorgeous sunsets and an endless trail right behind the RV park!Has a side road infront of it with very little traffic.Stayed here for 1 month. Great location easy access to 270. Office always is staffed and my packages arrived with no issues. Got a text whenever I had a package for pickup at the office.Quick drive into Edwardsville for all your needs. Or Walmart and Aldi in Wood River. Some road noise during the day. And the train whistle can be repetitive. I just ran a fan.Wifi worked good for streaming our tv about every time I used it. (Every evening)Spot, electric, wifi and full hookups are included. Some pull through and some back in.No amenities. Port-a-potties were locked. Laundromat isn’t far and is good.
Sep 15, 2022 · Jess & Mary IngramNewly opened Oct 2020, and great for working travelers. Not for kids at all. It's called a Campground but I disagree with this. Camping to me is not a large gravel parking lot. No other way to describe it.If yur active tho, great for walking, and if u have pets...Sits next to Lewis & Clark Confluence Tower, and the visitor center is just down the road, the levee walk path takes u right to it or u can drive there. The Levee is right behind RV sites. All paved pathway and my dogs love to run loose back and forth down the back-side while I walk. Well, as long as no one else is around that is. 😉Great for bicycling to!I saw another review stating things like, "too expensive, not happy w/the place, no where to walk yur dog, no laundry facility, etc, etc...."$600 mnthly, all utilities paid is pretty standard.$175 wkly is as well. And while they don't have a shower house or laundry facilities "on site", Susie does offer a laundry "service". U can drop off dirty clothes and pick up clean ones. That's awesome for guys working long hrs.If u prefer to do yur own, there's a laundromat just down the road in the town of Woodriver. Maybe 5-10min away.Clean w/working machines that don't cost u arm & leg.Park IS nxt to noisy hwy (Rt 3) but...When AC or heat running I can barely hear any of it. Also it's a new park, gonna take a bit for those new trees to grow😉.Now as far as another park being just down the road that include amenities for $100 less a month? Not sure where unless it's the KOA. Haven't been there, so may be true, but, it's a seasonal park and is only open April thru Oct.5 Diamonds is open all year round. Ya don't find that often in this area. And with that said...We're from the area but went full-time just under three yrs ago. This new park for us is actually really beneficial because we've had rough time finding decent place to stay while back in area for work. We usually end up in Mobile Home park. Not so fun.Places u stay are only what u make them, and remember that when u leave trash laying around, or have a pet u don't clean up after.Be a responsible guest!Other guests appreciate it as well as Susie, (Park manager).
