Campground is absolutely beautiful so much that we grabbed a rental spot two years in a row. The service however is awful and caused us to pull our camper out of there. The first year was just to get our foot in the door, our site was tiny and on a hill but we were able to get a better site the next season, or so we thought. The owners have pages of rules for the campground but only some need to follow them. When it came time for our seasonal spot to renew we decided not to after having issues of people parking at our spot , staff Letting other campers charge items at the camp store to our site so our debit card would be billed at the end of the weekend to our surprise. When we weren't camping the neighbors used our site and moved our picnic tables for their own use and that was just a few issues. The owners are still refusing to return our deposit even though We cleaned our site better than it was given to us but they are holding our deposit hostage because they found some items left( wood, concrete blocks) that were left by the campers before us and even though we submitted proof that the items were there before we moved onto the site and they are giving us the silent treatment and holding our money. We were warned that this is normal behavior for Jen and BJ but we were hopeful it wasn't going to be true because we had already signed a contract with them before we found this out. If your camping for the weekend you probably wont have as many issues as a seasonal spots but beware, Jen and BJ aren't nice people. I'll update if they decide to do the right thing and return out money since we sent proof to their attention. - Dana Callahan

Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park at Rustic Acres Introduce

Hey local families and outdoor adventurers! Are you searching for a "camping near me" experience in Illinois that offers a picturesque setting and a variety of activities, especially for kids? Look no further than Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park at Rustic Acres, located at 12246 Binney Rd in New Douglas. This campground boasts a beautiful environment and a range of features designed to create a fun-filled getaway.

According to one enthusiastic reviewer, the campground is "absolutely beautiful," so much so that they secured a rental spot for two consecutive years. This speaks to the scenic appeal and natural charm of Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park at Rustic Acres, making it an attractive option for those seeking a visually pleasing camping destination.

For those looking for activities, particularly for children, another reviewer who visited for an "April 1st Trip Work the Kinks Out" weekend noted that they "saw several activities for the kids going on over the weekend." This suggests that the campground offers organized programs and entertainment for younger campers, aligning with the family-friendly reputation of the Jellystone Park brand. This could be a significant draw for local families seeking "camping near me" that provides engaging activities for their children.

Beyond the campground itself, its location offers opportunities for exploration. The reviewer mentioned bringing their gravel bikes and being able to "easily ride to New Douglas to get on the Rails 2 Trails bike path." This highlights the campground's convenient access to a local bike trail, perfect for leisurely rides and exploring the surrounding area. This feature could appeal to local cyclists and those looking for outdoor recreational activities beyond the campground.

The same reviewer also noted "nice staff" and observed "several locals/regulars who were very friendly," suggesting a welcoming and community-oriented atmosphere within the campground for weekend visitors. This positive interaction with staff and fellow campers can significantly enhance the overall camping experience.

However, it is crucial for local users to also consider some concerns raised in another, more detailed review regarding the service and management of seasonal spots. This reviewer, who also initially found the campground beautiful and stayed for two years, ultimately decided not to renew their seasonal spot due to several issues. These issues included problems with other campers parking on their site, staff allegedly allowing others to charge items to their account without authorization, and neighbors using their site and moving their belongings when they were not present. These points of concern primarily relate to the experience of seasonal campers and may not directly impact weekend visitors. However, they are important to note for anyone considering a longer-term stay.

The same long-term camper also expressed dissatisfaction with the owners' handling of their deposit upon departure, alleging that the owners were unfairly withholding it due to items left by previous campers, despite the reviewer providing evidence that these items were already present upon their arrival. They also claimed a lack of communication from the owners regarding this issue. This paints a less positive picture of the management's responsiveness and fairness in certain situations, particularly concerning seasonal campers.

The reviewer specifically mentioned being warned about the owners' behavior ("Jen and BJ aren't nice people") prior to signing a seasonal contract, suggesting that these concerns might be known within the seasonal camping community at Rustic Acres. They advised weekend campers might not experience these issues as acutely but still cautioned potential visitors to be aware.

Therefore, for local users considering Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park at Rustic Acres for "camping near me," the information suggests a beautiful campground with appealing amenities, especially for families and those interested in biking. Weekend visitors seem to have generally positive experiences with the environment and activities. However, potential seasonal campers should be aware of the concerns raised regarding service and management of long-term sites.
