Town & Country Lakes

Could not be happier with this campground, it's quaint I believe there are about 20 spots. Every spot is wonderful and spacious! And plenty of room for parking as well. We just got here a couple of days ago. But have been full time camping for almost 4 years now because of my husband's job as a contractor. So far this is the best campground we have been too. The lake and corn fields provide plenty of privacy and on top of it all there is fishing! If you're looking for a weekend getaway or something long term, the prices are very fair and you won't be disappointed! - Kerri Jo Sweeney

Town & Country Lakes Introduce

For local residents seeking "camping near me" in the Bethalto, Illinois area, Town & Country Lakes, located at 801 S Neunaber Dr, Bethalto, IL 62010, USA, presents a quaint campground with a mix of positive and cautionary feedback from its visitors. You can reach them at (618) 377-3474 or via mobile at +1 618-377-3474 for inquiries and reservations. Based on the available customer reviews, potential guests should consider both the praised aspects and the reported drawbacks to determine if this campground meets their needs.

One recent visitor expressed high satisfaction, stating they "Could not be happier with this campground." They describe it as "quaint" with approximately 20 spots, each deemed "wonderful and spacious" with "plenty of room for parking as well." This positive initial impression from a full-time camping couple of almost four years suggests that Town & Country Lakes offers well-proportioned sites that provide ample space for campers and their vehicles. The reviewers also highlight the privacy afforded by the adjacent lake and cornfields, contributing to a peaceful and secluded atmosphere. Furthermore, the availability of fishing in the lake is noted as a significant bonus. This positive review concludes by recommending the campground for both weekend getaways and long-term stays, praising the "very fair" prices and expressing confidence that visitors "won't be disappointed." This paints a picture of a charming, spacious, and reasonably priced campground with appealing natural surroundings and recreational opportunities.

However, another visitor who came to "check it out" offers a more critical perspective, particularly for those with larger recreational vehicles or those requiring full hookups. While they acknowledge that it's "Not a terrible park for $500 a month," they point out several areas for potential improvement. A significant concern raised is the "very narrow" entrance to the park, coupled with a "tight turn" that could be "problematic for bigger rigs" and could "easily" be widened. This suggests that access for large RVs might be challenging and requires careful maneuvering.

Additionally, this reviewer notes that "the roads are very hilly to the park," which could pose further difficulties for larger vehicles or those towing trailers. This aspect of the terrain might also be a consideration for individuals with mobility issues or those who prefer flat, easily navigable campgrounds.

A major drawback highlighted in the second review is the lack of sewage hookups at any of the campsites. The campground provides a "communal dump station," which requires campers to move their rigs for waste disposal. For those who prefer not to relocate their setup, the campground offers a weekly "shit barrel" collection service for a fee of $20 per collection. The reviewer finds this system "unsanitary" due to residents leaving their hoses out and exposed until the collection day. They argue that sewage hookups should be included in the monthly fee, considering the apparent "poor planning." This lack of direct sewage connections could be a significant inconvenience and a potential deal-breaker for campers accustomed to full hookup sites, especially for longer stays.

Despite these infrastructural concerns, the second reviewer does acknowledge the positive aspects mentioned by the first. They note that the campground is "next to a decent looking lake and large field," which aligns with the privacy and natural beauty described earlier. They also mention the potential for "mice" to be a problem due to the proximity to the lake and field, which is a practical consideration for campers to be aware of.

Finally, the second reviewer comments on the social atmosphere, stating that "The environment the residents gave off was welcoming and friendly." This corroborates the positive community aspect implied in the first review. Despite the infrastructure limitations, the social environment seems to be a strong point of Town & Country Lakes.

In conclusion, Town & Country Lakes offers a quaint campground in Bethalto, IL, with spacious sites, a fishing lake, and a welcoming community. It appears to be a potentially good option for those seeking a peaceful getaway or a longer-term stay, particularly if they appreciate natural surroundings and don't require full RV hookups. However, potential guests, especially those with large RVs, should be aware of the narrow entrance and hilly roads. Furthermore, the lack of direct sewage hookups and the associated weekly collection fee are significant factors to consider. While one reviewer found the prices fair, the additional cost for sewage disposal might impact the overall value for some. It is recommended that interested local users contact Town & Country Lakes directly to inquire about site availability, specific amenities, and to assess whether the access and sewage arrangements meet their individual needs and preferences.
