Country Bend Campground Introduce
Looking for a "camping near me" experience that caters particularly to RV travelers near Litchfield, Illinois? Country Bend Campground, located at 3279 Honey Bend Ave, Litchfield, IL 62056, USA, offers a quiet and well-maintained setting with convenient access to local amenities. You can reach them at (217) 324-2363 or their mobile number +1 217-324-2363 for inquiries and reservations.
Based on customer reviews, Country Bend Campground provides a generally peaceful atmosphere. One visitor who stayed for a week in April described it as "quiet," particularly the area where they were the only campers. This suggests that the campground can offer a serene environment, especially during less busy times. The grounds are also noted to be "peaceful" and "well maintained," indicating an effort to keep the campground tidy and pleasant for guests.
For RVers, Country Bend Campground appears to offer practical amenities. One reviewer specifically mentioned staying at site 111, which had "FHU" (full hookups – likely water, sewer, and electric) and a good open sky for satellite reception, a crucial feature for those who rely on satellite internet or television. The owners, Kate and Jeff, were also commended for their helpfulness in recommending this site, demonstrating good customer service and knowledge of their campground's layout and features.
The campsites at Country Bend Campground seem to be adequately sized, as the reviewer with a 45-foot coach and a towed vehicle reported that their site was "long enough" to accommodate both. This is an important consideration for those traveling in larger RVs. The presence of trees on the sites is also mentioned, which can provide shade and a more natural camping feel, although the owners were also mindful of satellite access when recommending a particular site.
For families or those traveling with children, Country Bend Campground features a "very nice playground." This amenity offers a dedicated space for children to play and enjoy themselves, contributing to a family-friendly atmosphere within the campground.
Convenience to local amenities is another benefit of Country Bend Campground. It is located only 7 miles from the town of Litchfield, which offers essential shopping options, including a Walmart. Additionally, the historic Ariston Cafe in Litchfield is mentioned as a place that visitors "thoroughly enjoyed," providing a local dining option with historical significance.
While the overall impression of Country Bend Campground is positive, one recurring point of feedback is its proximity to train tracks. Reviewers noted that trains roll through the night, which can be a source of noise. One visitor mentioned using a fan to drown out the noise and eventually getting used to it by the fourth night. This is an important factor for light sleepers to consider, and bringing a noise-canceling device or a fan might be beneficial.
One reviewer, who stayed as a transient on their way west, had a slightly different perspective. They found the campground to be "ok" for their needs but observed that there seemed to be "nicer spots for the longer stay campers." This suggests a possible tiered system where sites may vary in desirability based on the length of stay. This transient camper also mentioned being placed in a "less desirable" spot because they requested to be away from other campers. However, they still acknowledged that the campground was "wooded and clean." This indicates a natural setting and maintained grounds, even in the less preferred areas.
The phone reservation process was described as a "snap" by the transient reviewer, indicating an efficient and easy way to book a stay. For after-hours arrivals, the campground has a system of taping the site assignment to the check-in building door, providing a convenient self-check-in process.
Considering the "camping near me" category, Country Bend Campground offers a solid option for RV travelers seeking a quiet and clean base near Litchfield, Illinois. The availability of full hookups and long sites caters well to RV needs. The playground adds to its appeal for families. The proximity to town provides convenience for shopping and dining. While the train noise is a potential drawback, many campers seem to adapt to it. The wooded environment contributes to a pleasant outdoor experience.
While the reviews provide valuable insights, some information is not explicitly stated. For example, the total number of campsites, the specific types of hookups available at all sites, the availability of other amenities like restrooms, showers, or laundry facilities, and the campground's pet policy are not detailed. Additionally, there is no specific promotional information mentioned in the reviews.
To obtain a more comprehensive understanding of Country Bend Campground, local users are encouraged to contact them directly at (217) 324-2363 or +1 217-324-2363. They can inquire about campsite availability, specific amenities, pet policies, long-term rates, and any other questions they may have. Asking about the proximity of specific sites to the train tracks might also be helpful for those sensitive to noise.
In conclusion, Country Bend Campground near Litchfield, Illinois, offers a quiet and well-maintained option for those searching for "camping near me," particularly RV travelers. With full hookup sites, spacious lots, a playground, and convenient access to town, it provides a comfortable and practical base for exploring the area or as a stopover during a longer journey. While the train noise is a factor to consider, the overall positive feedback regarding the cleanliness, peaceful atmosphere, and helpful owners suggests a pleasant camping experience. Contacting the campground directly will provide the most up-to-date and detailed information to help local users decide if it meets their specific needs.

Country Bend Campground Reviews
We stayed here for a week in April. It was quiet, as we were the only ones in the area in which we stayed. Kate and Jeff were very candid, that the sites have trees and recommended site 111 with FHU and best open sky for satellites. I work remote and our Starlink is flat mounted on our 45' coach. The site was long enough for our coach and toad. We enjoyed evening walks, beautiful sunsets and the peaceful well maintained grounds. The only con is it's very close to train tracks, with trains rolling through the night. We turned our fan to high to drown out the noise and by the 4th night, we weren't hearing them any more. We'd definitely return. The park is only 7 miles back to town, with Walmart and other shopping, as well as the historic Ariston Cafe, which we thoroughly enjoyed.
Apr 18, 2025 · Happy CampersFor transients who were offered better, it's ok. Google Maps: it's not a hotel. It's an RV campground. On our way out west, as the day progressed we found this based on a Google Maps rating, which for restaurants is very good. The phone reservation process was a snap. We arrived after hours in mid October and our assignment was taped to the check in building door. It appears there are nicer spots for the longer stay campers. Ones like us who said we wanted to be away from other campers take the less desirable spots. I can't blame them. Even so, it's wooded and clean. There is a very nice playground and when offered spots near other campers, next time we should take them.
