Akers Groupsite Campground Introduce
For local users seeking "camping near me" that can accommodate large groups and offers access to exciting river activities, Akers Groupsite Campground, located in Jadwin, MO 65501, USA, presents a location with both appealing natural features and potential drawbacks to consider. Situated in the scenic landscapes of Missouri, this campground appears to be a popular choice for group outings centered around river adventures. However, recent feedback indicates a need for potential visitors to be aware of the current state of facilities and payment procedures.
The positive reviews highlight the campground's prime location for outdoor enthusiasts, particularly those interested in river activities. One recurring group of campers expresses their annual tradition of visiting campsite #4, emphasizing its suitability for a large gathering. Their itinerary includes floating on Saturday and kayaking or rafting on Sunday, indicating the campground's proximity to a river that supports these activities. The joy they experience and their appreciation for the horse riders passing by suggest a unique and engaging environment that blends river recreation with equestrian activity.
Another reviewer simply describes the location as an "all around beautiful place," reinforcing the notion that Akers Groupsite Campground is situated in a naturally attractive area. This could imply scenic views, pleasant surroundings, and a generally appealing environment for spending time outdoors. The beauty of the location likely contributes significantly to the positive experiences reported by some visitors.
However, a contrasting review presents a critical perspective on the campground's condition and management. This reviewer states they "will not go here again" due to "run down" facilities, suggesting a lack of reinvestment in maintaining the campground infrastructure. This is a significant concern for potential visitors who prioritize comfort and well-maintained amenities during their camping experience. It is important for local users considering Akers Groupsite Campground to be aware of the possibility of outdated or poorly maintained facilities.
Furthermore, the negative review points out issues with payment and services. Despite making reservations a month in advance, the reviewer was informed upon arrival that the card reader was down, making the campground "cash only." This lack of prior communication about the payment policy caused inconvenience and could be a significant issue for campers who do not typically carry large amounts of cash. Additionally, the reviewer mentioned the absence of transportation to the river for their planned float trip, indicating a potential lack of essential services that were expected or assumed. These issues highlight potential shortcomings in the campground's operational efficiency and customer communication.
The phone numbers provided, (573) 323-4236 and +1 573-323-4236, offer a direct means for local users to contact Akers Groupsite Campground. It would be highly advisable for potential visitors to call ahead to inquire about the current condition of the facilities, the accepted methods of payment, and the availability of any services, such as river transportation, that might be crucial for their planned activities. Asking specific questions based on the concerns raised in the negative review can help set realistic expectations.
Given the mixed feedback, it is difficult to ascertain the current state of promotional offers or any recent improvements to the campground. Local users interested in any special rates for group bookings or information about potential upgrades to the facilities should directly contact the campground management. They may be able to provide assurances or details that address the concerns raised in the negative review.
In conclusion, Akers Groupsite Campground in Jadwin, MO, appears to be located in a beautiful area that is particularly appealing for large groups interested in river activities like floating, kayaking, and rafting. The possibility of encountering horseback riders adds a unique charm to the environment. However, potential visitors should be aware of recent feedback indicating that the facilities may be run down and that there have been issues with payment procedures and service availability. It is strongly recommended that local users considering Akers Groupsite Campground contact them directly using the provided phone numbers to get the most current information about the campground's condition, payment policies, and available services before making a reservation. This proactive approach will help ensure a more informed and potentially more enjoyable camping experience.

Akers Groupsite Campground Reviews
We go to camp site #4 every year we have a big group and we just love it there we float Saturday and Kayak/ raft Sunday it’s so wonderful and we love seeing the horse riders come past our campJust an all around beautiful place
Aug 28, 2024 · Janice EvansWill not go here again. The facilities were run down. You can tell they don’t put any money back into the campground. We made our reservations a month ahead when we got there. Their card reader was down so it was cash only and they didn’t tell us until we arrived, and they had no transport to the river for our float. Definitely not going there again.
Jul 24, 2023 · Paul RobinsonFloated from Akers to Pulltite after the Labor Day. River was still passable with little dragging in tandem kayak. This summer has been quite dry. Had a great float! Rented Josh's Cabin and would again if small group (3-5). Not a five star cabin, however, inexpensive and only 2 miles from river access. Beds were comfy, shower was new and stove as well. Here are suggestions to take: fan. Air works but to dry your wet things or cool place down on arrival. Take your own cooking pans etc. We got along with an electric skillet because you can cook most anything in one. Grill is solid but may be difficult for burgers. Trash bags. A bit of foil will work in oven if no baking sheet. Toaster would have been good, or the fireside type. Of course, your own towels. You may prefer your own bedding, or at least extra blankets. I'm sure there is stuff I forgot. Have fun!
