Cedargrove Campground Introduce
Hello, local outdoor enthusiasts! Are you searching for "camping near me" in the Jadwin, Missouri area, particularly if you enjoy riverside camping and paddling? Let's explore Cedargrove Campground, located in Jadwin, MO 65501, USA. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground offers a unique experience right next to the river, with some considerations to keep in mind.
The Riverside Environment:
One of the most appealing aspects of Cedargrove Campground, according to reviews, is its location directly next to the river. Campers can enjoy the soothing sounds of the river throughout the night, enhancing the natural camping ambiance. This proximity also makes it a "great put in spot for paddling," suggesting easy access for canoes, kayaks, or other small watercraft. The environment is clearly centered around the river, making it attractive for those who enjoy water-based activities and the natural beauty of a riverside setting when looking for "camping near me."
However, one review notes that the soil is sandy, which can make it "hard to put stakes into the ground." This is a practical consideration for tent campers to be aware of, perhaps requiring different types of stakes or alternative methods for securing tents. Another environmental detail is the availability of "good hammock trees in 1 and 2," indicating that these specific campsites are well-suited for hammock camping. In contrast, sites 3 and 4 are mentioned as "tent sites," possibly implying different ground conditions or tree availability.
A potential drawback mentioned by a camper on site 4 was the lack of privacy due to the riverbank being full of people, who frequently cut through the campsite, especially towards the end of the day and starting early in the morning. This suggests that while the riverside location is a major draw, some campsites might experience foot traffic from others using the river access. This is something to consider for those who highly value privacy in their "camping near me" experience.
Services and Limited Amenities:
The amenities at Cedargrove Campground appear to be basic, consistent with a more rustic or minimally developed camping area. The reviews mention that the "pit toilets are usable" and "the water spigot works," indicating the presence of these essential facilities. The functionality of the water spigot is a positive note for accessing water, though campers should likely be prepared to purify it for drinking unless otherwise specified.
The fact that it is described as "free in the off season" is a significant service or feature for budget-conscious local users looking for "camping near me" during those times. However, the specific dates of the off-season are not provided, so this would need to be verified.
One reviewer's experience highlighted a negative aspect related to other visitors, mentioning trash left behind and disruptive behavior from some non-local individuals. While this isn't a service provided by the campground itself, it's an aspect of the overall environment that some campers might encounter, particularly during busier times.
In summary, the services at Cedargrove Campground include:
- Riverside campsites.
- Usable pit toilets.
- A working water spigot.
- Free camping in the off-season (dates unspecified).
- Specific sites (1 & 2) with good hammock trees, and others (3 & 4) designated as tent sites.
Campers should be prepared for basic amenities and the potential for crowds near the riverbank during peak times.
Features of Cedargrove Campground:
The key features that make Cedargrove Campground a noteworthy option for "camping near me" include:
- Riverside Location: Direct access to the river and the sounds of flowing water.
- Paddling Access: A great put-in spot for canoes and kayaks.
- Free Off-Season Camping: An attractive feature for budget travelers during certain times of the year.
- Hammock-Friendly Sites: Sites 1 and 2 are suitable for hammocks.
The combination of free off-season camping and its prime location for river activities makes it appealing, despite the basic amenities and potential for crowds near the river.
The contrasting experiences in the reviews highlight that the appeal of Cedargrove might depend on what a camper is looking for – a free or low-cost riverside spot with paddling access, versus a more private and amenity-rich campground.
Promotional Information for Local Users:
The only promotional information explicitly mentioned is that camping is "free in the off season." Local users interested in "camping near me" on a budget might find this particularly appealing. However, to take advantage of this, it would be necessary to determine the specific dates that are considered the off-season at Cedargrove Campground. This information is not provided in the reviews, so it would be advisable to check with local sources or any official information available for the campground.
There is no other promotional information regarding rates during the regular season or any special offers mentioned in the provided text.

Free in the off season. Good hammock trees in 1 and 2. 3 and 4 are tent sites. Campsites are right next to each other.
Feb 18, 2024 · Ben FlynnWhat an awesome place I camped on 4 the only problem was at the end of the day (tues) the river bank is full of people and mostly everyone cuts through the campsite. It was beyond annoying and it didn't stop until 10 at night then started again at 6 in the morning. I had zero privacy which sucked but there was people from St. Louis who cussed like ghetto idiots and left trash everywhere. I think if the people from the city wasn't there things would have been different because the locals are really cool and extremely nice.
Aug 08, 2024 · MozarkieStrikingly beautiful spot for river access and camping just 10 miles SW of Salem MO and adjacent to the former town of Cedargrove. Best place in MO to camp right on the river. Big Rock Candy Mountain just a mile away for good food and drinks.
Oct 27, 2022 · Rob CoombesSuch an amazing and beautiful place to camp at, there is no cell service just as a heads up to anyone planning a trip here. But I believe that it is sometimes a good thing to unplug and unwind! You and your family will have a fantastic time here at Cedargrove Campground!
