Based on recent customer reviews, this KOA campground offers quick and easy check-in, helpful staff, and amenities catering to RV travelers and pet owners. However, one review also points out significant issues with the cleanliness and functionality of the women's showers, which prospective visitors should consider.
One positive review from a guest who stayed for a single night during their travels highlights several appealing aspects of the Albert Lea / Austin KOA Journey. The check-in process was described as "quick and easy," suggesting an efficient and welcoming start to the stay. The staff was noted to be "very nice and gracious" in answering questions about the local area, indicating a helpful and informative service. For RV travelers, the reviewer specifically mentioned that their spot was "long enough for our motorhome towing a vehicle," which is a crucial factor for those with larger rigs. An appreciated feature was the presence of a "very nice patio" at their site, offering a comfortable outdoor space. Furthermore, the inclusion of a dedicated "dog area" with provided bags and disposal for pet waste was seen as a "great touch," making it a pet-friendly option. Based on this experience, the reviewer stated they "would stay again," indicating overall satisfaction.
In contrast, another review, while acknowledging the potential for an enjoyable stay ("Other than the above, enjoy your stay"), details significant problems encountered with the women's shower facilities. According to this reviewer, one shower stall had "no handles," another had a "locked door without a person inside," and a third shower "leaked at the handle and sprayed water" in the user's face while showering. Additionally, this reviewer reported that the shower water "did not drain," suggesting a potential issue with plumbing and maintenance in this area. These are serious concerns regarding the basic functionality and hygiene of essential campground facilities.

Albert Lea / Austin KOA Journey Reviews
Stopped for 1 night on way home. Check in was quick and easy. Very nice and gracious to answer our questions about the area. Spot was long enough for our motorhome towing a vehicle. We had a very nice patio. The dog area was a great touch which includes bag and place to put them when full. I would stay again.
Jun 20, 2024 · Jeremy MarstonA very clean and quiet RV park EXCEPT for the women’s showers! One had no handles, another one had a locked door without a person inside, and the third and last shower leaked at the handle and sprayed water in my face while showering. Also, the water did not drain.Other than the above, enjoy your stay.
Sep 29, 2024 · Madeline LundeThis KOA has a 2pm check in time which I was a bit early to but the host allowed me in with no issue. The campground was nice and Bathrooms/showers were clean. The only issues I had, which is out of control of the campground, was the highway noise and the little bitting bugs. Must be the season for the bugs. Different a good place for one night.
Sep 23, 2024 · Bill BajorekVery convenient for visiting the SPAM museum in Austin. Very helpful on site selection when we called from the road to reserve a spot. Park was very well kept except for weed whacking around utilities. I was not happy about the camper 2 sites down displaying political flags. I went to the office to report it and before I walked back to my site, staff went to that site and had them take down their flags. That went a long way towards a 5 star review.
Sep 08, 2024 · Joe WilkWonderfully peaceful and well kept up. The owner was so friendly and went out of his way to make sure we had the spot that worked best for us. The store is fully stocked with almost everything you can think you will need. The campground is so quiet - yes there is a freeway right by it but you can see it is there from the map and it really isn't distracting from anything.
