Bandon / Port Orford KOA Journey Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" along the stunning Oregon Coast? The Bandon / Port Orford KOA Journey, located at 46612 US-101, Langlois, OR 97450, USA, offers a convenient basecamp for exploring the charming towns of Bandon and Port Orford, as well as the natural beauty of the surrounding area. Based on customer reviews, this KOA offers a mix of positive aspects, particularly regarding its hosts and location, alongside some areas where experiences varied.
Several reviewers highlighted the friendliness and helpfulness of the hosts. One guest who rented an RV mentioned that the hosts were "very nice and helpful," and another who stayed just one night described them as "amazing," "super friendly," and helpful with local recommendations for dining. This positive feedback suggests that guests can generally expect a warm welcome and assistance from the campground staff, which can significantly enhance the overall camping experience.
The location of the Bandon / Port Orford KOA Journey is also noted as a strong point. It's situated approximately 30 minutes from Bandon and closer to Port Orford, making it a convenient base for exploring the attractions and activities these coastal towns have to offer. One reviewer mentioned that "there is a lot to see and do in this area," reinforcing its suitability as a central point for exploration. Additionally, the campground is described as "very quiet," which would appeal to those seeking a peaceful and relaxing camping environment away from busier areas.
The campground caters to various types of campers. One review explicitly states it "would be a great place to camp with your own trailer/tent," indicating that they offer traditional camping sites in addition to RV accommodations. This suggests a diverse camping community, welcoming both those with their own setups and those looking to rent on-site.
However, one detailed review from a guest who rented an RV ("the Big Country") provides a more nuanced perspective. While they acknowledged the helpful hosts, they encountered several issues with the rental unit. The most significant concern was "an overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke" upon entering the RV, despite the presence of air fresheners. This suggests that the cleanliness and air quality of the rental RV they stayed in were not satisfactory.
The same reviewer also pointed out potential issues with the functionality and comfort of the rented RV. They suspected a broken heater downstairs (compensated by a space heater) and noted drafty windows. Furthermore, they found the master bedroom mattress uncomfortable for someone with back problems and described the pull-out beds as even less comfortable, suitable mainly for children. They also mentioned that while the trailer was "sweep clean," it had "lots of cobwebs" and needed a deep clean. The kitchen was equipped with "just the minimum supplies" and lacked adequate cleaning supplies, including a disgusting scrub brush.
On the positive side regarding the RV rental, the bathroom was reported to be "well stocked with towels." A pod-type coffee maker was provided, although the reviewer recommended bringing your own. They also purchased firewood and starter from the campground store, but unfortunately, the wood was wet and unusable.
Despite the issues with the rented RV, this reviewer did note some positive aspects of the campground itself. They mentioned a fenced dog area, which is a valuable amenity for campers traveling with pets. There is also a rec room with movies and some old games, providing some on-site entertainment options. Their children enjoyed riding bikes around the park, indicating a safe and suitable environment for this activity.
Another reviewer who had a "perfect" camping space and found the campground "beautiful" during their short one-night stay expressed a desire to return for a longer visit with their own tent. This reinforces the idea that the campground itself, particularly the standard camping sites, may offer a more consistently positive experience.
In summary, the Bandon / Port Orford KOA Journey offers:
- Friendly and helpful hosts.
- A convenient location for exploring Bandon and Port Orford and the surrounding Oregon Coast.
- A quiet campground environment.
- Tent sites and RV sites available for those with their own camping setups.
- A fenced dog area for pet owners.
- A rec room with movies and games.
- Opportunities for activities like bike riding within the park.
However, based on one detailed review of an RV rental, potential guests considering renting an RV on-site should be aware of potential issues with cleanliness, comfort (mattresses, potential heating/drafts), and the adequacy of kitchen supplies. It seems that guests using their own camping equipment may have a more consistently positive experience focused on the location and the campground's general ambiance.
For local users seeking "camping near me" on the Oregon Coast, the Bandon / Port Orford KOA Journey offers a well-located and generally pleasant environment, especially if you are bringing your own tent or RV. If you are considering renting an RV through them, it might be prudent to inquire about the specific unit you will be renting to ensure it meets your expectations regarding cleanliness and amenities.
To inquire about site availability, RV rentals, or any other questions, you can contact the Bandon / Port Orford KOA Journey directly at (541) 348-2358 or their mobile number, +1 541-348-2358. We encourage you to reach out and see if this KOA is the perfect basecamp for your Oregon Coast adventure.

Bandon / Port Orford KOA Journey Reviews
We rented an RV the Big Country over spring break. The hosts are very nice and helpful. We arrived Thursday night and did self-check in, we were excited to stay in an RV since we used to have one. When we opened the door we were hit with an overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke. There were several cans of air freshener and some empty plug-in air fresheners, but it really didn't help. We opened all the windows and tried to air it out since I am very sensitive to smells.I think the heater was broken in the downstairs area because they provided a space heater, but the windows were also drafty. The mattress in the master is not conformable if you have any back problems, don't rent this RV. The pull out beds are really only for kids, way more uncomfortable than the master. The trailer was sweep clean. It had lots of cobwebs in the windows and on the ceiling, it needs a deep clean. The kitchen had just the minimum supplies to make very simple meals, the kitchen cleaning supplies were lacking, the scrub brush needed to be replaced, I tossed it the trash because it was disgusting. The bathroom was well stocked with towels. A pod type coffee maker is provided but I highly recommend bringing your own. We purchased wood/lighter/fire starter at the little store but the wood was wet so we could never get our fire started. We had very sad kids. They had a fenced dog area. They have a rec room that had some movies and a few old games. The campground was very quiet and would be a great place to camp with your own trailer/tent.It's about 30 minutes from Brandon and closer to Port Orford and there is a lot to see and do in this area so it is a good base camp. Our kids did enjoy riding bikes around the park. I would like to come back but stay in my own tent
Mar 31, 2025 · Alishia DrydenWe only spent one night here, so we didn't do much, but the hosts were amazing! They were super friendly and helpful in pointing us to a place to eat.Our camping space was perfect, and what we saw of the campground was beautiful! Will definitely go back for a longer stay at some point and tell family and friends to stay when they are visiting the Oregon coast.
Sep 04, 2024 · Audra StouttWhen I picture a KOA campground, I picture camping in a loud grass lined parking lot within a couple feet of your neighbor. That's not the case with this one. It's loaded with private wooded campsites! The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the store had everything you may have left at home, great souvenirs too! I will definitely stay here again!
Aug 07, 2024 · Tim Stansfield-ChurchWe stopped here for one night. We were in a pull thru FHU site. This is late in the season so the pool was closed but the hot tub was open. They have a rec room with a pool table (costs 50 cents per game), an arcade game and some books in their library. The store had plenty of food items. There are tent sites, cabins and plenty of RV sites. Our site was a little narrow. Our picnic table was right next to the divider wall so our neighbors could look down on us. There are plenty of trees. Bathrooms were clean and showers clean. The staff was really nice. It was really quiet. Definitely a good stop for the night.
Sep 17, 2024 · Donna SmithWe had a rough start due to one front desk gal not being very nice (she stated I'm from Roseburg) over all it was an awesome stay. The pool was great, swings were in good condition, laundry rooms "very" clean. The 5pm train was so fun for my 3 year old granddtr. It's a bit between towns but they are fairly well stocked at the campground. I would recommend this campground. Please stay away from the game park. It needs to be reported due to animal conditions. (Atrocious) I did report. Other than that its a nice area a bit inland but the weather is better due to that. Thank you for our fun 7 day stay.
