Bar Mountain Introduce
For local users and large groups seeking a spacious "camping near me" experience in the Sevierville, Tennessee area, Bar Mountain, located at 2607 Grassy Branch Loop, presents a potentially beautiful and accommodating option. This large cabin offers ample space for guests to enjoy their time in the Smoky Mountains. However, it's important for potential renters to be aware of some maintenance and amenity issues reported by recent guests, which may impact the overall experience.
On the positive side, Bar Mountain is described by reviewers as absolutely beautiful and very spacious. This suggests that the cabin offers a visually appealing environment with plenty of room for large families or groups of friends to spread out comfortably. The ample space can be a significant advantage, allowing guests to relax and enjoy their vacation without feeling crowded. The beauty of the cabin itself likely contributes to a pleasant and inviting atmosphere for those seeking a mountain getaway.
However, several cons were also highlighted by a recent guest, indicating areas where the property may need attention. One of the reported issues is the condition of the pool table, which was described as falling apart. For guests looking forward to enjoying this amenity, its state of disrepair could be a significant disappointment. Similarly, the full mattress in a bedroom with two beds was deemed to be of very poor quality, offering zero comfort. Comfortable bedding is crucial for a good night's sleep, and a substandard mattress can detract significantly from the overall experience.
Another practical concern mentioned by a guest was a lack of sufficient silverware. This can be particularly inconvenient for larger groups who plan to prepare and eat meals at the cabin. Ensuring an adequate supply of basic kitchenware is essential for a comfortable and hassle-free stay. Additionally, one of the two hot tubs at the property was reported to be dirty and unusable. Hot tubs are often a sought-after amenity in mountain cabins, and having one out of service due to cleanliness issues can be a major drawback for guests hoping to relax in it.
Guests also noted a lack of propane or gas for the two fire pits. Fire pits can enhance the outdoor experience, providing a gathering place for socializing and enjoying the evening ambiance. The inability to use them due to a lack of fuel is another potential disappointment for guests expecting this amenity to be functional.
Further issues reported include a broken bottom shelf in the refrigerator located in the living area. A malfunctioning refrigerator can create inconvenience for storing groceries and beverages, especially for larger groups staying for an extended period. Additionally, the basketball game at the property reportedly lacked batteries, rendering it unusable. While perhaps a minor amenity for some, for those looking forward to it, the lack of batteries can be frustrating.
In one of the downstairs bathrooms, the shower curtain was broken, and there was no hot water. A broken shower curtain can make showering uncomfortable and lead to water spillage, while the lack of hot water in a bathroom is a significant inconvenience, especially during colder months or after outdoor activities.
Despite these reported issues, the reviewing guest mentioned that they would stay at Bar Mountain again but expressed a wish that the aforementioned items would be taken care of. This suggests that the positive aspects of the cabin, such as its beauty and spaciousness, are significant enough to warrant a return visit, provided that the maintenance concerns are addressed.
Another concerning point raised by a guest was the need for maintenance to come multiple times for issues that should have been fixed or addressed prior to their arrival. This indicates a potential lack of thorough pre-arrival inspection and maintenance, which interfered with the guest's overall experience. Frequent maintenance visits during a vacation can be disruptive and detract from the relaxation and enjoyment of the stay.
Given these mixed reviews, potential local users searching for "camping near me" and considering Bar Mountain should weigh the spaciousness and aesthetic appeal of the cabin against the reported maintenance issues and amenity shortcomings. It would be prudent to inquire with the property management about the current status of these concerns and whether they have been addressed before making a booking. Understanding the current condition of the pool table, mattresses, hot tubs, fire pits, refrigerator, games, and bathrooms will help prospective guests make an informed decision.
While Bar Mountain offers the allure of a beautiful and spacious cabin in the scenic Sevierville area, the reported maintenance and amenity issues cannot be ignored. For large groups needing ample space and seeking a visually appealing lodging option near the Smoky Mountains, Bar Mountain could still be a viable choice if the management has taken steps to rectify the noted problems. However, potential renters should exercise caution and seek assurances that the reported issues have been resolved to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable "camping cabin" experience. It is recommended to contact the property management directly to inquire about the current condition of the amenities and any recent maintenance updates before making a reservation at Bar Mountain.

Pro's & Con'sWhile we had a great time at this cabin and it is absolutely beautiful and spacious, there were some items we were not happy with. The pool table was falling apart, the full mattress in the bedroom with 2 beds was absolute trash (zero comfort), not enough silverware, one of the hot tubs was dirty and unable to be used, no gas for the 2 fire pits, the bottom shelf of the fridge in living area was broke, no batteries for the basketball game, shower curtain in one of the downstairs bathrooms was broken and had no hot water. We would stay here again but wish the items above would be taken care of.
