When considering a campground, it's essential to gather a comprehensive understanding of its environment, services, and features. Based on the limited information available, including a couple of recent customer reviews, it appears that Bark River Campgrounds offers a camping experience that has elicited varied reactions from visitors. One review expresses significant dissatisfaction, while another offers a more positive perspective. It is important for potential local users to consider both viewpoints when evaluating this campground.
According to one customer's experience, the campground is described negatively in several aspects. The review mentions that the campsites are "horribly small," which could be a significant concern for campers with larger tents or RVs, potentially limiting space for maneuvering and outdoor setup. The reviewer also notes a noisy environment throughout the night, which could detract from the peacefulness often sought in a camping experience. Furthermore, the review indicates restricted access to a pond on the property, suggesting that a potentially attractive natural feature may not be readily available for campers to enjoy.
The same negative review highlights an interaction with an "old man riding on the golf cart" who allegedly stares at people, followed by what the reviewer describes as harassment from campground staff the night before checkout, pressuring guests to pack up early. Such behavior, if consistent, could significantly impact the overall camping experience and the sense of relaxation and hospitality. Additionally, the review points out that the showers cost $1 for 10 minutes and provided only an "ice cold trickle," indicating potentially inadequate or costly hygiene facilities. Finally, the reviewer characterizes the park's appearance as resembling a "slum trailer park" and notes a lack of shade in the pull-through sites, which could be uncomfortable during hot weather.
In contrast, another customer review offers a more favorable opinion, describing the campground as "small but not crowded, very clean, relaxing," and offering an "excelente view." This positive feedback suggests that some visitors have found the campground to be well-maintained, peaceful, and aesthetically pleasing. The discrepancy between these two reviews underscores the importance of considering that individual experiences can vary, and it may be beneficial to seek additional reviews or information to form a more balanced perspective.
Given the limited and conflicting information, it is challenging to provide a detailed objective introduction to the environment, services, and features of Bark River Campgrounds. However, based on the available reviews, potential local users should be aware of the possibility of small campsites, nighttime noise, restricted pond access, potentially negative interactions with staff, and concerns about the shower facilities and the overall appearance of the campground. On the other hand, some visitors have found it to be clean, relaxing, and offering a pleasant view.
To obtain a more accurate understanding of Bark River Campgrounds, local users are strongly encouraged to take the following steps:
- Contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers: (262) 593-2421 or +1 262-593-2421. Inquire about the size and layout of campsites, noise levels, access to the pond, the cost and quality of showers, and the general upkeep of the campground.
- Search for additional online reviews from various platforms. Reading multiple reviews can provide a broader range of perspectives and help identify recurring themes or issues.
- If possible, consider a brief visit to the campground to assess the environment and facilities firsthand before making a booking.
As Bark River Campgrounds is listed within the "camping near me" category, it serves as a local option for residents of Jefferson, Wisconsin, and the surrounding areas. However, the contrasting reviews suggest that the experience may not be consistently positive for all visitors. Therefore, thorough research and direct communication with the campground are crucial steps for local users to make an informed decision based on their individual needs and expectations for a camping experience.

Local users interested in any potential discounts, special offers, or seasonal promotions should inquire directly with the campground management when contacting them. It's also worth asking about their policies regarding reservations, check-in/check-out times, and any other relevant regulations.

While one review highlights significant concerns regarding campsite size, noise, pond access, staff interactions, shower quality, and overall appearance, another describes it as small, clean, relaxing, and offering a good view. This will help ensure that their camping experience aligns with their preferences and expectations.

Bark River Campgrounds Reviews
Worst campground ever! The sites are horribly small, it's loud all night, you can't get near the pond. The old man riding on the golf cart stops and stares at people and they start harassing you the night before checkout to hurry up and pack up. The showers are $1 for 10 mins. I couldn't get it past and ice cold trickle. The park itself looks like a slum trailer park. No shade in the pull throughs.

Apr 22, 2025 · cesar valenzuelaBecause of the Wisconsin State Fair, we couldn’t find better sites. The campground was clean. There were no many mosquitoes and flies. Good service .
Aug 12, 2024 · Z W.The owners are amazing! Always available and willing to take care of anything you need. The river area is picturesque and clean. The food is great! It's an awesome, family campground. Freshwater fishing, pool, park and good food-what else could a kid want! This is a wonderful, family owned park and the employees are like part of their family. Been going for 3 years now.
Apr 04, 2023 · Josie SchultzWe went to this campground twice last year. The staff and the seasonal campers are amazing, very welcoming and friendly. They have a pool and kiddie pool which was great. The restaurants food was very good, the only downside was the restaurant had a very strong musty smell. The playground needs work, unfortunately they said every time they fix it up the kids destroy it. Which is a shame. They have a river and pond. The sites were fairly large, they called them pull through but they are not a true pull through. They only have electric and water on the sites for weekenders.
