Barview Jetty County Campground Introduce
For local residents seeking a "camping near me" experience along the picturesque Oregon coast, Barview Jetty County Campground, situated at 8000 Cedar St, Rockaway Beach, OR 97136, USA, offers a compelling option with a range of facilities and access to coastal activities. This campground has garnered both positive feedback regarding its amenities and staff, as well as concerning reports about its booking policies. Let's delve into the environment, services, features, and important considerations for Barview Jetty County Campground based on available customer reviews.
Coastal Environment and Location:
Barview Jetty County Campground's location near Rockaway Beach places it within easy reach of the Oregon coast's natural beauty. While the reviews don't explicitly detail the immediate surroundings, the mention of a "mushroom 🍄 paradise" by one visitor suggests a potentially lush, natural environment, possibly with wooded areas nearby, especially given the coastal climate of Oregon. The proximity to the coast implies access to beaches, ocean views, and the sounds of the sea, which can be a significant draw for those seeking a coastal escape.
The campground's name suggests its proximity to a jetty, which can be a popular spot for fishing, crabbing, and observing marine life and coastal scenery. Jetties often provide unique perspectives of the coastline and can be hubs for various recreational activities. For local users interested in these activities, Barview Jetty County Campground's location could be particularly appealing.
Accommodation Options:
Barview Jetty County Campground offers a variety of accommodation options to suit different preferences and needs. According to one review, these include "Tent, RV, and Yurts," providing choices for traditional campers, those traveling with recreational vehicles, and those seeking a more unique and comfortable camping experience in a yurt. The availability of diverse lodging types makes the campground accessible to a broader range of visitors.
In addition to these standard options, one reviewer specifically mentioned staying in a "mini cabin" and found it "perfect" with a "super comfortable bed, heater and microwave." The presence of mini cabins adds another layer of accommodation, offering a more sheltered and amenity-rich experience compared to tent camping, especially beneficial during inclement weather. The positive feedback on the comfort and features of the mini cabin suggests it's a desirable option for those seeking a cozy stay.
Services and Amenities:
Positive reviews highlight several aspects of the campground's services and amenities. One visitor praised the "fantastic facilities," indicating that the campground is well-equipped. Cleanliness and maintenance are also noted, with "clean well maintained bathrooms and showers" receiving specific mention. Well-kept facilities are essential for a comfortable camping experience and contribute significantly to visitor satisfaction.
The availability of "Ice and wood for sale" is another convenient service mentioned. Having these essential camping supplies readily available on-site saves visitors the hassle of sourcing them elsewhere, especially useful for those planning to cook over a fire (where permitted) or needing to keep food and drinks cold.
One reviewer lauded the "amazing happy helpful staff," describing them as an "absolute joy." Positive interactions with campground staff can greatly enhance the overall camping experience, providing assistance, information, and a welcoming atmosphere. This positive feedback suggests that customer service is a strong point at Barview Jetty County Campground.
Important Considerations Regarding Booking Policies:
While the positive review paints a favorable picture, another review presents a significant concern regarding the campground's booking policies and staff handling of reservations. This negative experience details a situation where the staff at check-in refused to allow the reviewer's husband and children to check in because the reservation was under the reviewer's name, and she was unable to join them due to work.
Despite the family being present and having a valid reservation, they were denied check-in and had to book a hotel for the night. When the reviewer contacted the campground to resolve the issue, the staff reportedly refused to change the reservation to her husband's name and allow them to stay the following night, citing a "two night minimum for cabins." Furthermore, the campground allegedly refused to refund the full amount paid because it was within 72 hours of the booking date.
This negative account raises serious concerns about the inflexibility and customer service related to the campground's booking policies. The refusal to accommodate a family with a valid reservation due to a technicality regarding the name on the booking, coupled with the strict cancellation policy, could be a significant deterrent for potential visitors. It highlights the importance of being fully aware of and comfortable with the campground's reservation and cancellation policies before making a booking.
Features and Activities:
The primary feature of Barview Jetty County Campground is its location providing access to coastal activities. The mention of a "crabbing trip" suggests that crabbing is a popular activity in the area, likely accessible from the nearby jetty or other coastal access points. For local users interested in crabbing, the campground's location could be a major draw.
The easy access to the beach, typical of Oregon coast campgrounds, would offer opportunities for beachcombing, walking, and enjoying the ocean scenery. The potential for mushroom hunting, alluded to by one reviewer, could be an added attraction for those interested in foraging (while adhering to local regulations and safety guidelines).
While specific hiking trails or other recreational facilities within the campground are not detailed, its proximity to Rockaway Beach and the Oregon coast suggests a range of outdoor activities might be available in the surrounding area, such as hiking, fishing, and exploring other coastal towns and attractions.

The provided information does not contain any specific promotional details for Barview Jetty County Campground. It's always a good idea to inquire directly about any potential deals when making your reservation.
Conclusion:
Barview Jetty County Campground presents a mixed picture for local users seeking "camping near me" on the Oregon coast. On the one hand, it offers fantastic facilities, clean amenities, helpful staff, and diverse accommodation options, including comfortable mini cabins and yurts, alongside traditional tent and RV sites. Its proximity to the coast and potential for activities like crabbing and mushroom hunting make it an appealing destination.
However, the serious concerns raised about the inflexible booking policies and the handling of reservations cannot be ignored. Potential visitors should be aware of the reported issues and ensure they fully understand the campground's policies regarding check-in, reservation changes, and cancellations before making a booking. It might be prudent to confirm these details directly with the campground staff to avoid potential complications upon arrival.
Despite the negative booking experience reported, the positive feedback regarding the facilities and staff suggests that those who successfully navigate the reservation process may enjoy a pleasant stay at Barview Jetty County Campground. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, including any promotional offers, contacting the campground directly or visiting the Tillamook County Parks Department website is recommended.

Barview Jetty County Campground Reviews
Fun Hidden Gem with fantastic facilities and amazing happy helpful staff. Went for a friends small birthday celebration crabbing trip. I stayed in the mini cabin and it was perfect. Super comfortable bed, heater and microwave. Clean well maintained bathrooms and showers. The rain, bomb cyclone and wind did not dampen our visit. The staff were an absolute joy. We will definitely be back! Mushroom 🍄 paradise.
Dec 02, 2024 · Aoife Mac MahonCan't speak for the campground itself, but as for the staff.....Staff at check in told my husband and children they could not check in because I booked the trip and was unable to come with them due to work.My family ended up booking a hotel for the night. When i called to find out what happened the staff would not let me change the reservation to my husband's name and let them stay the following night because they have a two night minimum for cabins. They then refused to refund the full amount paid because it was within 72 hrs of the date.Shameful and rude.
Mar 25, 2025 · Myranda CateReally nice campground with winter camping spots for vans and tenters. Staff was nice to help us check in during a rain storm, and it was a great beach for a morning walk. Showers were coin op and the bathrooms were clean. Very nice local campground!
