The environment surrounding Bay Creek Campground is a major draw, as highlighted by customer reviews. The campground boasts access to the clear waters of the Jack's Fork River, which is fed by a nearby cold spring. This ensures that even on the hottest days, the river provides a refreshing opportunity for swimming, snorkeling, and simply enjoying the cool water. The area is described as beautiful, emphasizing the natural appeal of this camping destination.
One of the standout features of Bay Creek Campground is its direct access to the Jack's Fork River, making it an ideal location for a variety of water-based activities. Reviewers specifically mentioned enjoying fishing, snorkeling, and exploring the river. Anglers can look forward to potentially catching long-eared sunfish, rock bass, and even rainbow and brown trout, indicating a healthy and diverse fish population in this section of the river. The presence of numerous spots to play and explore along the river ensures that even when the campground is busy, the river itself doesn't feel overcrowded, allowing for a more relaxed and enjoyable experience.
Beyond the river itself, the campground fosters a unique atmosphere that encourages quality time with family and friends. One reviewer pointed out that the lack of network service for phones and other devices becomes a positive aspect, naturally leading to more direct interaction and shared activities. This "digital detox" allows campers to fully immerse themselves in the natural surroundings and engage in activities such as talking, swimming, fishing, camping, and paddling boats. The mention of "warm water" is particularly appealing, suggesting comfortable conditions for swimming and other water activities during certain times of the year.
The journey to Bay Creek Campground is also part of the experience. One reviewer noted a "two-mile trek down the washboard access road," implying that the campground might be somewhat secluded and require navigating unpaved roads. While this might present a minor inconvenience, the reviewer ultimately concluded that the experience was "well worth" the journey, suggesting that the reward of the campground's natural beauty and recreational opportunities outweighs the less-than-ideal access road. This sense of being slightly off the beaten path could also contribute to the feeling of escape and tranquility that many campers seek.

Its primary features revolve around the Jack's Fork River and the opportunities it provides for swimming, fishing, snorkeling, and paddling. Bay Creek Campground Reviews
Another beautiful Jack's Fork River access point. Clear water from a nearby cold spring feeds into the area, making the waters refreshing on the hottest of days. There wasn't much floating traffic, so it made for a very relaxing day while we fished, snorkeled & explored. While fishing, we caught long-eared sunfish, rock bass, rainbow & brown trout. So many spots to play & check out that it never felt crowded, even though the campground was busy. I'm sure we'll be back on our next trip to the area. Well worth the two mile trek down the washboard access road!
Jul 22, 2020 · michele briggsThe best place to spend your holidays with families and friends. Since no net work there phone and other are no use. So you have no choice but spending time talking , swiming , fishing, camping and paddling boat and other activies. The best thing is warm water.
Jun 04, 2023 · hander205Great place but you need a truck to get through. Also we had a campsite and needed to go to town and when we pulled back up 3 cars was parked at our site they went fishing. It was local which so am I but the entitlement was overwhelming. Also the park ranger will visit you every time asking you a million questions. Other than that it's a great spot . No wifi service tho
Aug 16, 2024 · Angelia WildsA nice quiet campground at the end of a long windy gravel road. Clean pit toilet but no other improvements except for picnic tables and fire pits.
Feb 10, 2022 · michael mundyHad an awesome time camping there for the 4th of July week. The bathrooms are VERY well kept with concrete wheelchair parking. The sites are large with lots of shade. As of this posting (7/9/2023) the cost is $10 a night. They have fire pits with a grill for every campsite. Each site also has a lantern hook. The water is safe for kids of all ages, the current is very strong, and the water is crystal clear.Things to watch out for / CONS:- absolutely no cell service. Which ties into the next thing.- take screen shots of the weather. It's a flash flood area and you'll want to get out quick before a down pour. (Trust me we know from experience 😅)- RACOONS - they WILL chew through canvas bags. Keep everything food related locked up after dark in vehicles or complex clasps with metal containers. Plastic totes with stuff on top of the lid for weight doesn't matter to this team.
