Bear Cove Village

So this was my first time at Jellystone RV in Pigeon Forge, TN and will probably be my last. The staff was pleasant and the campground was clean and quiet, it was just way too cramped with sites. Our site was so close to another site that we could not put our awnings out. The site pad was so narrow that we could not use the picnic table that was provided, we had to move it off the pad to be behind the site, which was almost a ditch, so not useable even on the grass. And don’t get me started on parking. If you do go, don’t show up in two vehicles, there is barely room at each site to park the truck that pulled the camper. Aside from feeling very pinned in, it was nice to be close to local attractions. - Angela Green

Bear Cove Village Introduce

Hello to our local camping enthusiasts and those exploring "camping near me" in the Pigeon Forge, Tennessee area! Let's take a closer look at Bear Cove Village, located at 3404 Whaley Dr, Pigeon Forge, TN 37863, USA, with contact numbers (865) 453-8117 and mobile +1 865-453-8117. Formerly known as Jellystone RV, this campground presents a mixed experience based on recent customer feedback, which we will explore to give you an objective understanding.

The Environment: Clean and Quiet, Yet Potentially Cramped

According to visitor reviews, Bear Cove Village offers a clean and quiet environment. This can be a significant draw for those who prioritize a peaceful and tidy camping experience. The cleanliness suggests that the management takes efforts to maintain the grounds, which is always a positive aspect when choosing a place to stay. The quiet atmosphere also indicates that it might be a good option for campers looking for a more relaxed setting, away from excessive noise.

However, a recurring theme in the reviews is the feeling of being "cramped" with the sites being very close to one another. One reviewer mentioned not being able to put their awnings out due to the proximity to the adjacent site. This suggests that while the overall environment might be pleasant in terms of cleanliness and noise levels, the physical spacing between campsites could be a concern for some visitors, particularly those with larger RVs or a desire for more personal space.

Despite the potentially tight quarters within the campground itself, one positive environmental aspect mentioned is its closeness to local attractions. This could be a significant advantage for those wanting easy access to the entertainment, dining, and shopping that Pigeon Forge is known for. So, while the internal environment might feel a bit confined, the external environment offers the vibrancy of a popular tourist destination.

Services and Amenities: Basic and Potentially Limited

Based on the provided reviews, the information about services and amenities is somewhat limited but offers some insights:

  • Pleasant Staff: One reviewer noted that the staff was pleasant, which is always a valuable aspect of any service-oriented business.
  • Cleanliness: As mentioned earlier, the campground is reported to be clean.
  • Picnic Table: At least some sites are provided with a picnic table, although one review indicated usability issues due to the narrow site pad.
  • Proximity to Attractions: The campground's location offers easy access to local attractions.

Conversely, one review mentioned that the main office closes early, requiring a camper to purchase firewood from a grocery store. This suggests that on-site amenities or services might have limited hours or availability. Additionally, the same review noted the absence of kids' activities or hayrides, which are features often found at other campgrounds, particularly those operating under the Jellystone brand.

The fact that the campground was reportedly being sold and would be renamed "Cove Bear campground" might also imply potential changes in services or amenities in the future. However, based on the current reviews, it seems the focus is more on providing a clean and quiet base rather than a wide array of activities or extensive on-site conveniences.

Features: Tight Sites and Limited Parking

The standout features, both positive and potentially negative, highlighted in the reviews include:

  • Tight Campsites: Multiple mentions of cramped sites and close proximity to neighbors suggest this is a key characteristic of the campground. This might affect the ability to fully utilize awnings or enjoy a sense of spaciousness at your site.
  • Narrow Site Pads: One reviewer specifically pointed out that the site pad was so narrow that the provided picnic table could not be used on it.
  • Limited Parking: Parking seems to be a significant concern, with a warning against arriving in two vehicles due to barely enough room to park the tow vehicle at each site. This is crucial information for those traveling with more than one vehicle.
  • Quiet Atmosphere: For those seeking a peaceful stay, the reported quietness of the campground is a notable feature.

The proximity to local attractions is also a feature worth considering, especially if your primary goal is to explore Pigeon Forge and have a convenient place to park your RV or set up camp.

Promotional Information: Price Consideration

One reviewer mentioned, "The price we paid for a wk is cant complain about, great prices for the area!" This suggests that Bear Cove Village (at least at the time of the review) offered competitive pricing, which could be a significant promotional aspect, especially considering its location in a popular tourist area. If budget is a primary concern for your "camping near me" search, the potentially "great prices for the area" at Bear Cove Village might make it a viable option despite some of the spatial limitations.

However, it's important to balance the price with the potential drawbacks of tight sites and limited amenities (like no kids' activities or late office hours, as mentioned). Depending on your priorities, the affordability might outweigh these concerns.

Summary for Local Users Seeking "Camping Near Me"

For local users looking for "camping near me" in Pigeon Forge, TN, Bear Cove Village (formerly Jellystone RV) offers a location that is close to local attractions, with a reportedly clean and quiet atmosphere. The potentially "great prices for the area" might also be appealing for budget-conscious travelers. However, it's crucial to be aware of the significant drawbacks highlighted in the reviews, particularly the cramped campsites, narrow site pads, and limited parking, especially if you have a larger RV or are traveling with multiple vehicles. The lack of specific kids' activities or extended office hours might also be a consideration for some.

If your priority is affordability and proximity to Pigeon Forge's offerings, and you are prepared for potentially tight camping conditions, Bear Cove Village could be an option. However, if you value spacious campsites and a wide range of on-site amenities, you might want to explore other campgrounds in the area. We recommend contacting Bear Cove Village directly at the provided phone numbers to inquire about current pricing, site availability, and any recent changes since the reviews were posted, especially given the mention of the sale and name change to "Cove Bear campground." This will help you make an informed decision based on your specific needs and preferences for your "camping near me" experience.
