This campground has garnered positive feedback for its quiet atmosphere, friendly owners, and access to the Shenandoah River, making it an appealing option for local users seeking a relaxing getaway. While it's worth noting upfront that there isn't a traditional beach area, the river access provides ample opportunities for water-based fun and recreation. If a peaceful and family-friendly "camping near me" experience is what you're after, Bennies Beach Campground might be the perfect destination.
The environment at Bennies Beach Campground is consistently described as "nice" and "quiet," making it an ideal retreat for those seeking respite from a bustling environment. The campground's location along the Shenandoah River offers a natural and scenic backdrop for your "camping near me" adventure. While the name might suggest a beach, reviews clarify that the river access provides plenty of room for play and enjoyment by the water's edge. The presence of a playground is a significant bonus for families with young children, offering a dedicated space for them to have fun and burn off energy. The overall ambiance of Bennies Beach Campground is geared towards a peaceful experience, which is a deliberate choice by the owners, as indicated by a reviewer who noted their intention to maintain a non-party atmosphere. This focus on tranquility makes it a potentially excellent choice for local users prioritizing a serene "camping near me" experience.
The services at Bennies Beach Campground are designed to cater to both RV and tent campers. For RVers seeking "RV park near me" options, each RV spot is equipped with water and electric hookups, providing essential conveniences for a comfortable stay. The presence of a dump station on-site further enhances the practicality for RV travelers. Tent campers are welcome to set up in their preferred locations throughout the campground and have access to firewood and fire rings, fostering a traditional camping experience. A frequently mentioned positive aspect is the bathhouse, which is consistently described as "clean" with a reliable supply of "hot water." This is a significant amenity that contributes to a comfortable and enjoyable stay for all campers. The friendly and personable nature of the owners is also highlighted in reviews, suggesting that guests can expect a welcoming and helpful experience during their "camping near me" visit. For families, the playground is a valuable amenity, keeping children entertained and engaged. Each RV spot is equipped with a fire ring, allowing campers to enjoy campfires safely. Tent campers also have access to firewood and fire rings, promoting a classic camping experience. It's important to note that the fire rings do not have grills, so campers planning to cook over the fire will need to bring their own grilling equipment. While there are picnic tables spread throughout the campground, reviews indicate that there isn't one per site, so it might be beneficial to bring your own portable table if having one directly at your campsite is a priority. The campground's deliberate focus on maintaining a peaceful atmosphere, primarily through its nightly rate structure, is a unique feature that appeals to those seeking a quiet "camping near me" experience, with many long-term campers contributing to this serene environment.
Regarding promotional information, the reviews provide insight into the nightly rate structure. One reviewer mentioned a $50 per night fee and explained that the owners intentionally set a higher nightly rate to discourage a party atmosphere and cater more to full-time and long-term campers, for whom the rates are described as "much more reasonable." This suggests that local users seeking short-term "camping near me" options should be aware of this nightly rate. For those interested in longer stays, it would be beneficial to contact the owners directly at (540) 820-2635 or +1 540-820-2635 to inquire about their more favorable long-term rates. While specific discounts or promotional packages aren't mentioned in the reviews, it's always worth reaching out to the owners to discuss your specific needs and explore any potential options for a more extended "camping near me" stay. The emphasis on a peaceful environment and the different rate structure for long-term campers could be considered a form of tailored offering to specific types of campers.
The positive sentiment expressed in the customer reviews strongly suggests that Bennies Beach Campground is a well-regarded option for "camping near me." The recurring mentions of the friendly and personable owners contribute significantly to the positive atmosphere. The cleanliness of the bathhouse is another frequently praised aspect, highlighting the campground's commitment to hygiene and comfort. Families with young children will appreciate the inclusion of a playground, providing a dedicated space for kids to enjoy outdoor play. The river access, while not a traditional beach, offers a valuable opportunity for water-based recreation and adds to the natural appeal of the campground. The provision of essential hookups for RVs and the availability of fire rings and firewood for tent campers ensure that the campground caters to a variety of camping preferences. The deliberate effort to maintain a quiet and peaceful environment further enhances its appeal to those seeking a relaxing "camping near me" experience.
For local users specifically searching for "family camping near me," Bennies Beach Campground appears to be a solid choice. The combination of the playground for children, the river access for family fun, and the generally peaceful atmosphere creates a welcoming environment for families. The positive comments from a reviewer whose grandchildren enjoyed playing by the river further reinforce its family-friendly appeal. The clean bathhouse facilities also contribute to a comfortable stay for families. While the lack of grills on the fire rings might require a bit more planning for family cookouts, the overall amenities and environment seem well-suited for a family "camping near me" adventure.
In conclusion, Bennies Beach Campground offers a unique "camping near me" experience focused on peace and tranquility along the Shenandoah River. The friendly and personable owners, clean facilities, river access, and playground are key highlights. Bennies Beach Campground Reviews
A nice, quiet campground. The owner and his wife are friendly and personable. We've stayed here many times. Our toddler loved the playground and the river access is a bonus. There is no beach, but plenty of room to play in the river. The bathhouse is clean and there's always hot water. There is a dump station and each RV spot has water and electric hookups. Each RV spot has a fire ring. Tent campers can set up where they please and have access to firewood and fire rings. The fire rings do not have grills. There are a few picnic tables spread throughout the campground, but not 1 per site.I've seen some reviews complaining about the $50/night fee. The owners do not want a party atmosphere and the rates for FT/long term campers are much more reasonable. They hope by having a high nightly rate to keep the campground peaceful. Most campers at Bennie's are FT. It really is peaceful.
Nov 25, 2022 · Keturah WhetzelOur Daughter and Son in Law live in Broadway! We live in Newport News and we traveled 4 hours with our camper to get there! It's a great little place to stay and lots of fun for our grandchildren to play down by the river! The owners and staff were very nice!!!
Sep 05, 2023 · Stacy JenningsSo my family owned a farm in Broadway back in the seventies and lately I've been coming back to the area doing some HVAC work.I did a Google search and found a number for the campgrounds and called them today and was sticker shocked at their $50 a night and only two people rate for campsite. only electricity and water hook up. There charging The same rate as full-service campgrounds yet there are no services here! NOTHING!!!!The beach is actually a creek running along the edge of their property there is no beach to be found! The place is literally just one big circle in a field with numerous parking spots for campers, that's it nothing else there and they want $50 a night. Crazy rates for nothing.A side note, The people in charge of the estate running the campground are going to do nothing but pocket every your cash and not careThey don’t care about the history of brocks gap services center. Just money!
