Benton Lake Campground Introduce
Are you a local user searching for a delightful "camping near me" experience in a beautiful and peaceful setting? Look no further than Benton Lake Campground, located at 2900-2998 W Pierce Dr, White Cloud, MI 49349, USA. Based on recent customer reviews, Benton Lake Campground offers surprisingly nice and spacious campsites, well-maintained facilities, and a tranquil atmosphere, all contributing to a wonderful outdoor getaway.
The Environment: Beauty, Space, and a Pretty Lake
The environment at Benton Lake Campground is consistently described as beautiful and peaceful. One first-time camper was "very surprised on how nice it was," a sentiment echoed by another who found the lake "very pretty." The campsites themselves are noted to be "spacious and spread out," providing campers with ample room and a sense of privacy. The presence of a lake suggests opportunities for lakeside enjoyment, although one reviewer mentioned not seeing much of a beach, possibly due to rainy conditions, but did note a "little trail to the lake." This indicates that while it might not be a sprawling beach, there is access to the water, enhancing the natural appeal of the campground.
The campground seems to be set in a wooded area, as evidenced by the "sketchy trees" mentioned by one reviewer. While this particular observation points to a maintenance concern, it also implies a setting with mature trees, likely providing shade and a natural camping ambiance. The overall feel, with only a few other campers present during one reviewer's stay, is one of tranquility and quiet, making it an ideal spot for those seeking a peaceful retreat in nature.
Services and Amenities: Well-Maintained Basics
Benton Lake Campground offers essential amenities that are generally well-regarded by visitors:
- Spacious Campsites: Each comes equipped with a fire pit, a picnic table, and lantern posts, enhancing the camping experience.
- Toilet Facilities: There are "four pit toilets" (also referred to as "vault bathrooms") which reviewers found to be "very well maintained" and "very clean and taken care of," although some noted they were "a little dark inside."
- Water Source: Campers can rely on "at least one water source for every loop," providing a convenient way to access water.
The positive feedback on the maintenance and cleanliness of the facilities suggests that the campground management prioritizes the comfort of their guests. The availability of fire pits, tables, and lantern posts at each site further contributes to a comfortable and enjoyable camping setup.
Features: Friendly Hosts and a Peaceful Ambiance
Beyond the physical environment and amenities, Benton Lake Campground boasts some notable features:
- Awesome Hosts: Both reviewers specifically praised the hosts, Bill and his wife, describing them as "very nice and helpful" and "awesome people." This personal touch can significantly enhance the camping experience.
- Peaceful and Quiet Atmosphere: With only a few other campers during one visit, the campground offers a serene and tranquil environment, perfect for relaxation.
- Cell Phone Service and Internet: One reviewer noted having cell phone service and internet access, which can be a plus for those who wish to stay connected.
- Two Camping Loops: This suggests a decent capacity while still maintaining a sense of space and not being overly crowded.
The presence of a trail to the "very pretty" lake adds another appealing feature, offering opportunities for scenic walks and enjoying the water.
Pricing and a Note of Caution
The cost of camping at Benton Lake Campground is reported as $24.00 per night. This is slightly higher than the $22.00 mentioned on a website (presumably external), but reviewers felt it was "really worth it" and "well worth it" for the experience provided. This indicates good value for the price.
One important note of caution raised by a reviewer concerns "a couple of very sketchy trees that had ribbons around them leaning over our car that where obviously dead and waiting to be cut down." Campers should be aware of their surroundings and perhaps choose campsites that do not have such potentially hazardous trees nearby. While the reviewer with full vehicle coverage "did not mind," it's a safety aspect to keep in mind.

Benton Lake Campground Reviews
First time camping at Benton lake and was very surprised on how nice it was. Almost every campsite is really nice with a fire pit and table and lantern posts. I believe there was four pit toilets that where very well maintained a little dark in some of them. At least one water source for every loop. The host Bill and his wife where very nice and helpful. It is 24 dollars a night although the website says 22 but really worth it. Did not see much of a beach though, maybe we missed it as it was raining. There where a couple of very sketchy trees that had ribbons around them leaning over our car that where obviously dead and waiting to be cut down. We have full coverage so I did not mind. Just be aware!
Aug 21, 2024 · B ZBeautiful camping sites. Campsites are spacious and spread out with fire pits, lantern posts and picnic tables. There is water available. The vault bathrooms were very clean and taken care of, just a little dark inside though. There are 2 loops for camping. There is a little trail to the lake, which is very pretty. It did cost 24.00 a night, not 22.00 as posted on the website but well worth it. There were only 4 other people camping, so it was very peaceful & quiet. I will be returning next year! I did have cell phone service and Internet there. Wonderful experience! The Hosts were awesome people!
Oct 07, 2024 · Jean CoffmanFell in love with this place. The campground is right on the lake I didn’t see any waterfront sites but the walk to the lake and docks are a short fun hike. The sites are spacious and the only downside are the generators. Large and rustic but you will have an out house and cell phone coverage. This was my first time here and will definitely be coming back to camp here. The lake is beautiful and the experience was great. .
