Birch Point Lodge Campgrounds Introduce
For local users seeking "camping near me" in the Island Falls area of Maine, Birch Point Lodge Campgrounds, located at 33 Birch Point Lane, Island Falls, ME 04747, presents itself as a destination with the added convenience of on-site dining and picturesque river views. You can reach them at (207) 463-2515 or their mobile number, +1 207-463-2515, for inquiries and reservations. While the natural setting appears to be a significant draw, recent customer feedback provides insights into the service and accessibility aspects of this establishment that potential visitors should consider.
One of the frequently mentioned features of Birch Point Lodge Campgrounds is its location and the scenic view of the river. The opportunity to camp alongside a river often appeals to those seeking a tranquil and visually appealing environment. The sound of flowing water and the potential for riverside relaxation can enhance the overall camping experience. This natural environment positions Birch Point Lodge Campgrounds as a potentially attractive option for local residents looking for a quick escape into nature without traveling too far.
In terms of services, Birch Point Lodge Campgrounds appears to offer a dining option in addition to camping facilities. One reviewer mentioned visiting the lodge for a fish dinner. While they described the food as "fair," their experience was significantly marred by what they considered to be exceptionally poor service. They recounted a long wait to be seated, inattentive waitstaff, and a lack of attention from the owner, leading to a highly unsatisfactory and expensive dining experience. This feedback suggests that while the convenience of an on-site restaurant might be appealing, the quality of service experienced could be inconsistent.
Regarding the camping facilities themselves, one reviewer who stayed overnight noted that the place was "nice to visit" and specifically highlighted the "great" view of the river. This positive feedback reinforces the appeal of the natural setting. However, this same reviewer also pointed out a significant limitation concerning accessibility. They noted the absence of easy wheelchair access, specifically mentioning the lack of handle bars in the bathrooms and showers. This is a crucial piece of information for potential visitors with mobility challenges, indicating that the campground may not currently meet accessibility standards in these areas.
Furthermore, the reviewer suggested the installation of sensor lights at night outside the bathroom area for improved safety and convenience. The absence of such lighting could pose challenges for campers navigating the grounds after dark. This suggestion highlights a potential area for improvement in the campground's amenities.
Considering the "camping near me" category, local users often prioritize convenience, natural beauty, and essential amenities. Birch Point Lodge Campgrounds seems to offer the allure of a riverside location and the convenience of a restaurant. However, the strong negative feedback regarding the dining service should give potential campers pause if they plan to utilize this amenity. Moreover, the identified lack of wheelchair accessibility in key areas like bathrooms and showers is a significant factor for individuals with mobility needs.
Currently, there is no promotional information available in the provided text, such as discounts for local residents, special offers for longer stays, or any details about additional campground features or planned improvements. Therefore, local users interested in Birch Point Lodge Campgrounds should consider contacting them directly at the provided phone numbers to inquire about current rates, availability, and any recent updates to their facilities or services, particularly regarding accessibility.
In summary, Birch Point Lodge Campgrounds in Island Falls, Maine, offers a camping experience with the benefit of scenic river views and an on-site restaurant. However, potential local campers should be aware of recent feedback indicating potentially poor dining service and significant limitations in wheelchair accessibility, particularly in bathroom and shower facilities. The suggestion for improved lighting around the bathroom area also indicates a potential area for consideration. For local users browsing within the "camping near me" category, it is recommended to weigh the appeal of the location against the reported service and accessibility issues and to contact the campground directly for the most up-to-date information before making a reservation.

Birch Point Lodge Campgrounds Reviews
We had family come in from out of town and figured we would take them here for a good fish dinner. The food itself was fair, however the service was by far probably the worse I have ever experienced. We stood there for 10 min before the rude waitress walked by and said go ahead and sit down. We waited for an hour to get our food and that was the last time we seen the rude blond. Meanwhile the owner walked by several times while we sat there with empty glasses, but he was too busy talking with his local buddies. Long story short it sucked! Worse $150 I've ever spent!!
Aug 06, 2024 · R FWe stayed one night. Nice place to visit. The view of the river was great. The only problem is no easy access for wheelchairs. No handle bars to bathrooms and showers. It should have sensor lights at night outside of the bathroom area.
Aug 22, 2024 · Rosa CrespoWhat an amazing place to stay! I had a cabin not right on the lake but close enough. Very good people running the place and super quiet. The restaurant had great food. Yes, I had to wait a few but I understood the reason why and on top of that I had a great view of the water while waiting for my food. A little on the pricey side for some but well worth it. I came right at the end of summer, so I was still able to rent some kayaks. All around a great place to visit! I will definitely be coming back.
Oct 24, 2023 · jessica palagoniaIf I could rate this campground a ZERO, I would. If you are going to own a campground and require that dogs are on leashes, then keep your own dog on a leash or contained somehow - not wandering the grounds, unleashed and unsupervised, rushing and attacking other dogs (& people) like the owner’s dog does. Our dog was bitten. We will not be back. The owner's dog (a beagle named Junior) is dangerous.
Jun 24, 2024 · Sharon PeabodyGreat location, beautiful scenery. Just make sure you pack "ALL" your meals... It is now Thursday night. I had my first and only meal Sat night. The camp restaurant is never open. Only open the day we arrived? Weird..Hours say 5-9 ... but the lights are always off and the doors are locked.. 5 days closed now....Really! bring your own food.... I'm starving 😫... Im gonna pack up and leave a day early so I can eat something, anything...
