The surrounding area in Benedicta, Maine, is part of the state's vast wilderness, providing a sense of remoteness and an opportunity to connect with nature. Molunkus Lake Sporting Camps Reviews
(August 19-21, 2021)This was our first family gathering at sporting camps since the 1980s when we used to go to Kidney Pond and Daicey Pond camps in Baxter State Park when our oldest children were young. It is like stepping back in time - the camps were first built and operated in 1904, so there is a lot of history here, especially in the main lodge which has many old photos and things from the past, including a lot of mounted game animals and fish. The lodge itself is even older, dating back to the late 1800s when lumbermen first built it and cut wood in the area. Our visit was about the hottest time of the year, so besides catching bass and pickerel from kayaks and power boats, we also spent a considerable amount of time swimming in the area around the camps.Bill and Janet made us feel right at home and kept us supplied with firewood and stories about the area. The camps come in 2 flavors - old original log camps right on water's edge with no amenities except gas lights;or more recently built camps with gas lights, generator power in the evening, with gas cook stoves and refrigerators, as well as on-demand pressurized hot water for shower and sinks. Molunkus Lake is mostly too far from electric power, so that "advantage" has kept the population on this great fishing lake relatively sparse, and QUIET! Rather than power boats and radios, mostly at night all you hear are some voices and the sound of the loons!
Aug 22, 2022 · Clarke NattressWe go up every other year and ride fourwheelers for miles. My grand parents have know the owner bill for years, he's a great guy. Just like a second grandpa to me.
Jul 14, 2024 · Eben SawyerIt has been many years since my familvy has been here. My uncle jay and aunt Marg owned it wayo back then. My family had just moved from Connecticut to Macwahoc and we would drive almost every single night to hang out at the camps. Good times and even better memories. I can only imagine how much it has changed or maybe not. But the reviews don't lie. Like I said.it has been many years since I was there and I would still highly recommend spending time at molunkus lake sporting camps. I would bet s million dollars that you will also have wonderful memories to talk about years down the line.
