Black Bear Lodge Introduce
Are you searching for "camping near me" in the popular destination of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee? Black Bear Lodge, located at 949 Pine Valley Way, Pigeon Forge, TN 37862, USA, offers a cabin rental experience in the scenic Smoky Mountains. However, recent customer reviews present a mixed picture, highlighting both potential positives and significant drawbacks that local users should carefully consider before booking.
Environment: Potential Views and Wildlife Encounters Amidst Construction
One reviewer mentioned enjoying the sunrise and sunset from the deck and hot tub, suggesting that Black Bear Lodge might offer pleasant views of the surrounding area. The presence of a deck and hot tub typically indicates an environment conducive to outdoor relaxation and appreciation of the natural setting. Grilling on the deck was also mentioned as an enjoyable activity.
However, the overwhelming sentiment in the provided review focuses on significant disturbances to the environment. The most prominent issue is ongoing construction in the vicinity of the cabin. According to the reviewer, construction activities, involving loud noises from saws, nail guns, skid steers, and semi-trucks, begin very early in the morning (around 6:00 AM) and continue throughout the day. This noise pollution severely impacted the ambiance and the ability of guests to enjoy peace and quiet during their vacation.
Furthermore, the reviewer noted frequent encounters with construction workers and loud mariachi music and Spanish conversations emanating from the construction sites surrounding the cabin. While explicitly stating an intent not to sound racist, the reviewer expressed that this was disruptive to their vacation experience. It is important for potential guests to consider the impact of ongoing construction on the overall environment and their desired level of tranquility.
Another significant environmental concern raised in the review is the presence of wildlife inside the cabin. The reviewer reported squirrels in the ceilings keeping them awake at night, along with raccoons and the sounds of burrowing animals throughout the night. This suggests potential issues with the structural integrity of the cabin allowing wildlife intrusion, which can be disturbing and unhygienic for guests.
Finally, the reviewer mentioned a rampid presence of stink bugs, advising guests to keep everything packed away. This indicates a potential pest issue that could affect the comfort and enjoyment of the stay, particularly outdoors.
Services and Amenities: Resolved Issues Amidst Cleanliness and Functionality Concerns
The review indicates a mixed experience with the services and amenities provided at Black Bear Lodge. On a positive note, the reviewer mentioned that "any problems were solved immediately," suggesting a responsive property management team willing to address guest concerns. This is a crucial aspect of customer service.
However, the initial state of the cabin upon arrival was a significant issue. The reviewer described the cabin as "very dusty/dirty," noting "layers of dust" on the curtains and "dirty chipped dishes." This suggests a lack of thorough cleaning prior to guest arrival, which is a fundamental expectation for any rental accommodation. While the problems were reportedly solved, the initial impression and the need for resolution are important factors to consider.
Other amenities mentioned include a hot tub, which the reviewer enjoyed for sunrise and sunset views. The presence of a grill on the deck suggests the possibility for outdoor cooking. However, the fireplace was reported as not working, which could be a disappointment for guests expecting to use it, especially during cooler months.
The internet service was described as "slower than molasses," indicating potentially unreliable or very slow connectivity, which could be an issue for guests needing to stay connected for work or personal reasons.
The reviewer advised guests to "bring EVERYTHING" as the cabin provides "very little that I wouldn't use." This suggests a lack of comprehensive supplies, and potential guests should be prepared to bring their own toiletries, kitchen essentials beyond basic cookware, and any other items they might need for a comfortable stay.
Features: Hot Tub and Potential Views Offset by Significant Drawbacks
Based on the single provided review, the standout features of Black Bear Lodge appear to be the hot tub and the potential for enjoying sunrise and sunset views from the deck. These could be attractive elements for guests seeking relaxation and scenic appreciation.
However, these potential positives are significantly overshadowed by several negative features reported by the reviewer. The ongoing and disruptive construction, with loud noise starting very early in the morning and continuing throughout the day, is a major drawback that would severely impact the peace and quiet of a vacation.
The reported issues with cleanliness, including dust and dirty dishes, are also significant concerns regarding the basic standards of accommodation.
The presence of wildlife inside the cabin (squirrels, raccoons, burrowing animals) indicates a lack of proper maintenance and potential health and safety issues.
The non-functional fireplace and slow internet are additional disappointments that could detract from the overall guest experience.
The rampid stink bug infestation outside the cabin could also make enjoying the outdoor spaces less pleasant.
The reviewer's strong recommendation to "Rent elsewhere!" serves as a significant warning based on their negative experience.

Exploring "Camping Near Me" in Pigeon Forge, TN – Proceed with Caution
For local users searching for "camping near me" in Pigeon Forge, TN, Black Bear Lodge appears to offer the potential for scenic views and a hot tub. However, the single detailed review available paints a concerning picture of significant cleanliness issues, disruptive ongoing construction with very early start times and associated noise, wildlife intrusion into the cabin, a non-functional fireplace, and slow internet.
Given these significant drawbacks, potential guests should exercise extreme caution before booking Black Bear Lodge. It is strongly recommended to seek out more recent reviews from multiple sources to determine if the conditions have improved or if the reported issues persist. If considering a booking, direct communication with the host or property management is essential to inquire about the current status of the construction, cleanliness standards, and any measures taken to address the wildlife and pest problems. Black Bear Lodge Reviews
Liked the cabin. Very dusty/dirty however. Not thoroughly clean as the curtains had layers of dust. Dirty chipped dishes. However any problems were solved immediately. Simple things, nothing major. We grilled on the deck and enjoyed the sun rise (before 6 am and the mariachi band) and sunset via the hot tub. HOWEVER the construction ruined the ambiance. Make SURE when you rent, that there's no construction. They start at 6 am!! Loud LOUD LOUD saws, nail guns, skidsters, and semis at 630 am!!! ALL DAY LONG!!! Our cabin was surrounded by Mexicans workers, mariachi music and screaming Spanish from 630ish until 7pm. Not to sound racist but it's my vaca, cmon. Two cabins, one above us and one below us were being built. Squirrels in the ceilings kept you up all night, along with raccoons. Couldn't sleep due to the burrowing of animals all around you, IN THE CABIN!! ALL NIGHT LONG. Fireplace didn't work. Internet slower than molasses. Bring EVERYTHING as they provide very little that I wouldn't use. Try to sleep 9 to 5 because you will wake for a moments peace before the mariachi starts at 6ish. Keep everything packed away because the stink bugs are rampid here. Ugh.. We paid for a dirty cabin we had to leave just to get peace. We could only grill and enjoy the cabin after 7pm. Paid way too much for the ambiance we didn't get. Next time, we will get a cabin elsewhere or a hotel. Loaded with Bumble bees as well!! They don't take care of the outside or prevent nestsSo it's a task, just to get in or out...I just wouldn't! Rent elsewhere!
