Blue Ridge Parkway Rocky Knob Information Center Introduce
Looking for a "camping near me" experience immersed in the beauty of the Blue Ridge Parkway near Floyd, Virginia? The Blue Ridge Parkway Rocky Knob Information Center, located at 1670 Blue Rdg Pkwy, Floyd, VA 24091, USA, offers a unique opportunity to connect with nature. You can reach them at (540) 745-9660 or their mobile number, +1 540-745-9660, to inquire about camping possibilities. Based on recent customer reviews, this location provides a serene natural environment, ideal for those seeking a peaceful outdoor escape.
One of the most compelling aspects of camping at the Blue Ridge Parkway Rocky Knob Information Center is the profound connection with nature. One reviewer described it as a "great place to experience the mother nature," emphasizing the beauty of the surroundings. The high elevation near the sky offers exceptional opportunities for stargazing, with the reviewer noting that you can see "lots of stars." Additionally, the seasonal beauty is highlighted, particularly the "beautiful red and yellow leaves of trees in fall," suggesting a visually stunning environment throughout the year. For local users searching for "camping near me" where they can truly immerse themselves in natural beauty and enjoy celestial views, this location appears to be a strong contender.
Another reviewer characterized the campground as an "old school RV spot," indicating a more rustic and perhaps less modernized camping experience. The location is described as "really off the beaten path if you not on the Blue Ridge," which suggests a secluded and tranquil setting, away from the hustle and bustle of more developed areas. This could be particularly appealing to local users seeking a quiet and peaceful "camping near me" option.
However, it's important to note some of the limitations mentioned by the reviewers. One significant point is the absence of shower facilities, as stated by a visitor: "No place to take shower but it deserves to stay couple of days." This lack of showers is a crucial consideration for those planning a multi-day stay and might influence whether this campground suits their needs, especially for those accustomed to having these facilities readily available.
The condition of the campsites is also mentioned, with one reviewer stating, "The sites really need some TLC." This suggests that while the natural setting is appealing, the infrastructure of the campsites themselves might be somewhat dated or in need of maintenance. However, this is balanced by the positive aspect of being "located among the old growth trees," contributing to a shaded and natural ambiance, and the fact that it is "super quiet," enhancing the sense of peacefulness.
Considering the "camping near me" category, the Blue Ridge Parkway Rocky Knob Information Center offers a unique experience focused on nature and tranquility. The stunning scenery, excellent stargazing, and quiet atmosphere are significant draws. However, local users should be aware of the lack of shower facilities and the potentially rustic condition of the campsites. For those prioritizing natural beauty and a peaceful environment over modern amenities, this campground could be an ideal local escape.
To understand the specific services and features available, such as the types of campsites (tent, RV), hookups (if any), restroom facilities (beyond showers), and any other amenities, local users are encouraged to contact the provided phone numbers. Inquiring about the current condition of the campsites and any regulations specific to the area would also be beneficial in planning a visit.
For local residents looking for a "camping near me" experience that emphasizes natural immersion and quietude along the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Rocky Knob Information Center campground presents an interesting option. The trade-off appears to be between the pristine natural setting and the availability of modern amenities. If you value being close to nature, enjoying starry nights, and a peaceful environment, and are prepared for the lack of showers and potentially rustic sites, this could be a worthwhile local camping destination.
To gather more information and potentially see if there have been any updates or if there are specific details about the campsites, local users can call (540) 745-9660 or +1 540-745-9660. You can ask about the types of sites available, any fees involved, and any specific recommendations for enjoying the area. This direct contact will help you determine if the Blue Ridge Parkway Rocky Knob Information Center campground is the right "camping near me" choice for your next outdoor adventure.
In conclusion, the Blue Ridge Parkway Rocky Knob Information Center campground near Floyd, VA, offers a natural and quiet "camping near me" experience with exceptional stargazing and seasonal beauty. While it lacks shower facilities and the campsites may be somewhat rustic, its location amidst old-growth trees and its proximity to the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway make it a compelling option for those prioritizing nature and tranquility. Local users seeking a peaceful escape should consider this campground, keeping in mind the amenities (or lack thereof) mentioned in the reviews.

Blue Ridge Parkway Rocky Knob Information Center Reviews
Great place to experience the mother nature. Close to the sky so you can see lots of stars. Beautiful red and yellow leaves of trees on fall. No place to take shower but it deserves to stay couple of days.
Oct 28, 2019 · Chongyong LyuThis is a old school RV spot. The location is really off the beaten path if you not on the Blue Ridge. The sites really need some TLC but it is located among the old growth trees and it is super quiet.
Oct 07, 2019 · JD HoganI thought this was a really cool campground. It has a rolling topography which is more interesting than a flat campground. My tent site was pretty good size and backed up to the woods. There were stone steps from the parking paddock down to the level tent site, picnic table and fire pit. Bathrooms were nice. Ranger was very polite and professional. Location on Blue Ridge Parkway was great. Stop at Tuggles Restaurant just north of the campground to get your food, ice and drinks before going into the campground. Hope to return.
Aug 27, 2018 · Greg WinslowWe always love camping at Rocky Knob. Don't mind the rustic camping, great camp host, most sites will accommodate. You pick out your site, drive out & come back in the opposite direction. Make reservations, not a problem. Bathrooms are clean. We usually come here a couple times a year. Blue ridge is beautiful anytime of the year.
Sep 22, 2020 · Linda CarlyleNice large Campground. Camp hosts are always super nice people. No hot showers here. Plenty of hiking available. Short distance to a couple of Wineries and the town of Floyd, Va that’s well worth your visit.
