Bluff Mesa Group Camp Introduce
Are you searching "Camping Near Me" for a secluded and spacious location to accommodate a family or large group camping trip? Bluff Mesa Group Camp, situated off Mill Creek Rd in Angelus Oaks, CA 92305, USA, offers a promising option. You can reach them at (909) 866-8550 or +1 909-866-8550 for reservations and inquiries. Based on recent customer feedback, this group campsite boasts scenic surroundings, ample space for spreading out, and essential amenities for a comfortable group camping experience.
The environment of Bluff Mesa Group Camp is consistently praised for its seclusion and scenic beauty. One reviewer described it as a "nice secluded campsite, very scenic," suggesting that it offers a sense of privacy and immersion in nature away from more crowded camping areas. The ample room available allows for a whole family or group to spread out comfortably, providing space for various activities and ensuring that everyone has enough personal area to relax and enjoy the surroundings. The presence of "plenty of pine trees and boulders" further enhances the natural aesthetic of the campsite, offering shade and a picturesque backdrop for your group's outdoor adventure.
In terms of amenities, Bluff Mesa Group Camp appears to be well-equipped for group camping. Reviews mention the presence of "several wooden picnic tables," which are essential for meal preparation and communal dining. A "fire pit and grill" are also available, providing opportunities for cooking over an open flame and enjoying the quintessential camping experience of gathering around a campfire (though restrictions may apply, as noted later). The provision of "three large bear boxes" is a significant feature, indicating an awareness of the local wildlife and a commitment to ensuring the safety of campers and the proper storage of food and scented items. This suggests that the campground management is proactive in addressing potential wildlife interactions.
Accessibility to Bluff Mesa Group Camp is a key factor to consider. Multiple reviews mention that "the road up is rough," with one specifying "about 30 minutes of off road driving to the campsite" over a dirt road with "lots of rocks." While one reviewer noted that "regular vehicles can get there with some caution," the general recommendation is to drive an SUV or truck. This suggests that while it might be possible to reach the campsite in a standard car, a vehicle with higher clearance and more robust tires is advisable to navigate the unpaved and potentially uneven terrain comfortably and safely. Potential campers should assess their vehicle's capabilities and their comfort level with driving on such roads.
One of the reviewers noted a significant issue with the on-site toilet, stating that it "was overdue to be pumped out, so it was quite 'ripe'." This is an important piece of feedback regarding the maintenance of facilities at the campground. While another reviewer mentioned the presence of a "porta-potty," the discrepancy suggests that there might be more than one type of toilet facility, or that the conditions can vary. It would be prudent for potential campers to inquire about the current status and maintenance schedule of the toilet facilities when making reservations.
Another crucial point to be aware of is the restriction on campfires and charcoal. One reviewer expressed disappointment that "no campfires or charcoal were allowed (late July)," although they understood the reason, likely due to high fire risk during that time of year. This highlights the importance of checking current fire restrictions before your trip, especially during dry seasons. While a fire pit is provided, its usability may be subject to seasonal regulations. Propane stoves might be the only permitted cooking method during certain times, so campers should be prepared accordingly.
The overall sentiment from the reviews is positive, with one reviewer giving the campsite four out of five stars, with the toilet issue being the primary reason for not awarding a perfect score. The other reviewer described it as a "great group camp sight." This suggests that despite the road conditions and potential issues with the toilet, the overall experience of seclusion, scenic beauty, and the provided amenities makes Bluff Mesa Group Camp a desirable location for group camping.
There is no specific promotional information available in the provided reviews. However, the positive feedback regarding the campsite's features, such as the picnic tables, fire pit, grill, and bear boxes, coupled with its secluded and scenic environment, serves as an implicit recommendation for local users seeking a well-equipped group camping experience in the Angelus Oaks area.
For local users looking for "Camping Near Me" that can accommodate a group in a secluded and scenic setting, Bluff Mesa Group Camp offers several appealing features, including ample space, picnic tables, a fire pit, and bear boxes. The access to the campsite via a rough, potentially 30-minute off-road drive requires consideration of vehicle type. Additionally, potential campers should be aware of the possibility of campfire restrictions and should inquire about the current condition and maintenance of the toilet facilities.
Before planning your group camping trip to Bluff Mesa Group Camp, it is highly recommended to make reservations, likely through the National Recreation Reservation System or by contacting the provided phone number. During the reservation process, it would be beneficial to inquire about the current status of the road conditions, the operational status and maintenance of the toilet facilities, and any fire restrictions that might be in place during your intended visit. Being well-informed will help ensure a smooth and enjoyable camping experience for your entire group at this potentially excellent secluded campsite.

Bluff Mesa Group Camp Reviews
Nice secluded campsite, very scenic and plenty of room for the whole family or group to spread out. The road up is rough, so you should probably be driving an SUV or truck to get here. Four Stars instead of Five because the toilet on site was overdue to be pumped out, so it was quite "ripe". Bummed that no campfires or charcoal were allowed (late July) but I understand. Also, three large bear boxes were provided, so evidently somebody was listening to Mr. Chen's review
Jul 23, 2018 · Matt BrownGreat group camp sight. Has a porta-potty. Surrounded by plenty of pine trees and boulders. Has several wooden picnic tables, fire pit and grill. About 30 minutes of off road driving to the campsite but regular vehicles can get there with some caution.
