4.0
A spectacular place to get a group together for a perfect camping experience! The group sure was adorable priced for The side of the group it can accommodate as well as the proximity to neighbors. Almost didn't know anyone else was on the mountain! Plenty of places for large teens and great trees for some shade. Access is kind of fun, just bring a higher clearance vehicle! Will definitely be back here next year! - Justin Henderson

Boulder Group Campground Introduce

Looking for "Camping Near Me" that can accommodate a large group for a memorable outdoor experience? Boulder Group Campground, located off Mill Creek Rd in Angelus Oaks, CA 92305, USA, might be the perfect destination for you and your companions. You can reach them for reservations and inquiries through the National Recreation Reservation System at (877) 444-6777 or +1 877-444-6777. Based on customer reviews, this campground offers a fantastic setting for group camping, characterized by a sense of seclusion, natural beauty, and access to recreational opportunities.

The environment of Boulder Group Campground is frequently described as "spectacular" and a "perfect camping experience." One of the key highlights is the sense of privacy and separation from other campers. Reviewers mention feeling like they were almost alone on the mountain, indicating that the group campsite is situated in a way that provides ample space and minimizes disturbance from other visitors to the area. This seclusion can greatly enhance the group camping experience, allowing for more freedom and a stronger connection with nature and your fellow campers.

The campground also boasts "great trees for some shade," a significant advantage, especially during warmer months. Ample shade can make the camping experience much more comfortable, providing relief from the sun and creating pleasant areas for relaxation and gathering. The presence of large trees also contributes to the natural beauty of the site and can be ideal for setting up hammocks or simply enjoying the tranquility of the forest.

In terms of accessibility, the reviews consistently mention that the road leading to Boulder Group Campground is "kind of fun" but also "a bit rough." Specifically, there is mention of about a mile or two of dirt road with "lots of rocks." While one reviewer noted that a front-wheel-drive (FWD) vehicle could make it up by driving "really carefully," the general recommendation is to bring a higher clearance vehicle such as an SUV or truck. This is crucial information for potential campers to consider when planning their trip and vehicle choice. The "fun" aspect suggests that the drive might be an adventurous start to your camping trip, but it's essential to be prepared for unpaved and potentially uneven road conditions.

Once you arrive at the campground, you and your group will find yourselves "far enough from other campers not to really be bothered by anyone." This reinforces the earlier point about the secluded nature of the site, making it ideal for groups looking to enjoy their time together without the noise or proximity of many other campers. This sense of privacy is a significant feature that sets Boulder Group Campground apart.

For those interested in exploring the surroundings, reviewers mention that "There are lots of trails you can explore yourself just by walking around the campsite." This access to hiking trails directly from the campground adds considerable value, offering opportunities for recreation, exercise, and further immersion in the natural environment of the Angelus Oaks area and the broader San Bernardino National Forest. The presence of "lots of shade" along these trails would also make hiking more enjoyable, especially during sunny days.

However, a critical piece of information that potential campers must be aware of is the presence of wildlife, specifically bears. One reviewer explicitly warned, "*Be warned though, we did see a bear both mornings we were here. Make sure to take advantage of the bear boxes provided.*" This indicates that Boulder Group Campground is located in bear country, and proper precautions are absolutely necessary to ensure the safety of campers and the preservation of wildlife. The fact that "bear boxes" are provided is a significant service, and campers must utilize them to store food and scented items securely, preventing bears from being attracted to the campsite. Following Leave No Trace principles, especially regarding food storage and waste disposal, is paramount here.

In terms of services and features beyond the bear boxes, the reviews do not explicitly mention other amenities such as restrooms, water sources, or picnic tables. Group campgrounds sometimes offer basic facilities, but based on the available information, it's essential for groups to be prepared for a more rustic experience. It would be wise to inquire about the availability of water (if any, treatment will likely be required), restroom facilities (vault toilets are common in such campgrounds), and whether picnic tables or fire rings are provided at the group site.

The pricing of Boulder Group Campground is described as "adorable priced for The side of the group it can accommodate as well as the proximity to neighbors (or lack thereof)." This suggests that the cost is reasonable, especially when considering the capacity of the group site and the level of privacy it offers. For local users planning a group camping trip, the affordability mentioned in the review makes Boulder Group Campground an even more attractive option.

There is no specific promotional information mentioned in the reviews. However, the positive feedback regarding the spectacular environment, privacy, shade, and access to trails, coupled with the reasonable pricing, serves as a strong implicit recommendation for groups seeking a quality camping experience in the Angelus Oaks area. The warning about the rough road and the presence of bears are crucial pieces of information for preparedness, not deterrents to the overall appeal of the site for the right group.

For local users looking for "Camping Near Me" that can comfortably accommodate a group and offers a degree of seclusion in a beautiful natural setting, Boulder Group Campground appears to be an excellent choice. The access to hiking trails and the availability of shade are additional benefits. However, it is vital to be prepared for the rough road leading to the campground and to take all necessary precautions regarding wildlife, particularly bears, by utilizing the provided bear boxes and following safe camping practices.

Before planning your group camping trip to Boulder Group Campground, it is highly recommended to make reservations through the National Recreation Reservation System at the provided phone number or their website (usually Recreation.gov). Group campsites often require advance booking, especially during peak seasons. When making your reservation, inquire about the specific amenities available at the group site, any current fire restrictions, and the latest information regarding road conditions and wildlife activity. Being well-informed will ensure a safe and enjoyable "perfect camping experience" for your entire group.
