Boot Lake Campground

Camp Rd, Townsend, WI 54175, USA

4.0
This is an amazing beach and lake. The boat launch is a bit difficult due to the angle needed to back down. And parkingin that area is limited. But the lake is a beautiful place. The water is clear in most areas. Loons, eagles, and other birds seen daily while visiting. Fishing was ok. Lots of tubers, jetskiers during wake hours. The kayaking was very peaceful and it was around 4 miles to go all the way around. Peaceful coves in some areas that boats can't get to easily. Great beach with an amazing swim area. No dogs allowed which was disappointing but understood. Picnic tables and afternoon shade. Great place for the $5 a day pass. There is also a campground located on the lake. - Tonia Miske

Boot Lake Campground Introduce

For local residents in Wisconsin and the surrounding region seeking an exceptional "camping near me" experience centered around a beautiful lake and offering a variety of recreational activities, Boot Lake Campground, located on Camp Rd in Townsend, presents an enticing destination. Based on enthusiastic reviews from visitors, this campground boasts an amazing lake with clear water, a great beach, and opportunities for boating, kayaking, swimming, and wildlife viewing. While there are a few points to note regarding the boat launch and facilities, the overall positive feedback and affordability make Boot Lake Campground a strong contender for your next lakeside getaway.

The environment surrounding Boot Lake Campground is undoubtedly its primary attraction. The lake itself is described as "beautiful" with "clear water in most areas," making it ideal for swimming and enjoying the aquatic scenery. The presence of wildlife such as loons and eagles, seen daily by visitors, adds to the natural charm and provides excellent opportunities for birdwatching and nature photography. The mention of "peaceful coves in some areas that boats can't get to easily" suggests that the lake offers both open areas for more active water sports and secluded spots for quiet contemplation and exploration by kayak. The great beach with an amazing swim area is another significant environmental feature, perfect for families and individuals looking to relax by the water and enjoy swimming.

The services at Boot Lake Campground include a boat launch, although one reviewer noted that it can be "a bit difficult due to the angle needed to back down" and that parking in that area is limited. This is a practical consideration for those planning to bring their own boats. The campground offers great campsites, as mentioned by a repeat visitor of four years. However, this reviewer also pointed out a need for more frequent cleaning of the bathrooms and advised campers to ensure their chosen site has a fire ring that isn't too tall to be effectively used for campfires (with accompanying pictures as a reference). The presence of picnic tables at the beach area is a convenient amenity for enjoying meals outdoors, and the availability of afternoon shade is a welcome feature during warmer days. The affordability is also highlighted, with one reviewer mentioning a very reasonable $5 daily pass for accessing the lake and presumably the campground amenities.

The features of Boot Lake Campground cater to a wide range of outdoor interests. The amazing beach and swim area are perfect for families and those who enjoy relaxing and playing in the water. The clear lake is ideal for kayaking, with one reviewer noting a pleasant 4-mile trip around the perimeter and the discovery of peaceful, boat-inaccessible coves. While fishing is mentioned as "ok," it still provides an opportunity for anglers to try their luck. The abundance of wildlife, including loons and eagles, is a significant feature for nature lovers and birdwatchers. The availability of campsites suggests that overnight stays are possible, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in the lakeside environment. The affordability, particularly the $5 day pass, makes it an accessible option for many local users.

One important piece of information for pet owners is that "no dogs allowed" at the beach, which was noted as disappointing but understood by one reviewer. This is a crucial rule to be aware of when planning a visit, especially for those who like to travel with their canine companions. Campers should inquire about the campground's specific pet policy for overnight stays, as rules might differ for the camping areas versus the beach.

Promotional information is not explicitly stated in the reviews. However, the repeated positive sentiments, such as "amazing beach and lake" and "great sites," serve as strong implicit endorsements. The fact that one person has been visiting for four years and plans to continue doing so speaks volumes about the positive experience offered at Boot Lake Campground. The affordability, especially the $5 day pass for lake access, can also be considered a promotional point, highlighting the value for money.
