Brushy Creek Beach Campground Introduce
For local users in Iowa and those exploring the central part of the state, searching within the 'camping near me' category for a well-maintained campground with recreational opportunities, Brushy Creek Beach Campground, located on Co Rd D46, Lehigh, IA 50557, USA, offers an appealing option. Situated near Lehigh, Iowa, this campground boasts a beach within walking distance of the campsites and is noted for its upkeep and natural environment, including abundant wildlife.
The environment surrounding Brushy Creek Beach Campground is likely characterized by the natural beauty of the Brushy Creek State Recreation Area, within which it is presumably located. This area in central Iowa features a diverse landscape of woodlands, prairies, and a significant water body, Brushy Creek Lake. Campers can expect a setting with opportunities for various outdoor activities. The presence of younger trees in some parts of the campground, as mentioned by a reviewer, suggests a developing landscape that will offer more shade in the future. The proximity to Brushy Creek Lake is a key environmental feature, providing the "beach" aspect of the campground's name and likely supporting the diverse wildlife observed in the area.
One of the standout features of Brushy Creek Beach Campground is its access to a beach, located about 600 yards (approximately 0.34 miles) from at least one campsite. This proximity to a beach offers campers the opportunity for swimming, sunbathing, and other lakeside recreational activities, making it a particularly attractive option for families and those who enjoy water-based fun. For local users specifically looking for 'camping near me' with beach access, Brushy Creek Beach Campground is a significant consideration.
The campground is consistently described as "very well maintained," indicating a commitment to providing a clean and pleasant camping environment for visitors. This attention to upkeep can enhance the overall camping experience and suggests that the facilities are likely in good condition. For local users who appreciate a campground that is well-cared for, Brushy Creek Beach Campground appears to meet this criterion.
Wildlife enthusiasts will likely appreciate Brushy Creek Beach Campground, as one reviewer noted "lots of wildlife" can be observed when driving around the area. This suggests that the campground and its surroundings are home to a variety of animals, offering opportunities for wildlife viewing and nature photography. The presence of docks, which were still in during a late September visit, indicates potential for boating and fishing on Brushy Creek Lake, further adding to the recreational appeal for local users who enjoy these activities.
In terms of services and facilities, the information from the reviews provides some insights. While one reviewer noted that the "restrooms are closed" during their visit in the fall, they also mentioned the availability of "porta potty type but nicer" restrooms. This suggests that even during off-peak seasons when permanent facilities might be closed, temporary but adequate restroom options are provided. The availability of restrooms, even portable ones, is a basic but essential service for any campground.
The review mentioning a visit in late September when the campground was only 10% full, but with a reservation board showing it would fill up on the weekend, indicates the campground's popularity, especially during peak times. This suggests that while midweek visits might offer a quieter experience, local users planning weekend stays should book in advance to secure a campsite. The fact that it fills up on weekends implies it is a sought-after 'camping near me' destination.
While specific details about the types of campsites (e.g., tent-only, RV-friendly with hookups) are not explicitly mentioned, the general nature of state or county-managed campgrounds in Iowa often includes a mix of both. Local users with specific needs regarding campsite type and amenities (like electrical hookups) might need to seek additional information from the managing authority, which is likely the Webster County Conservation Board given the location near Lehigh in Webster County.
Promotional information is not included in the provided reviews. Local users interested in learning about camping fees, reservation procedures, seasonal availability, or any special rules or regulations for Brushy Creek Beach Campground should contact the Webster County Conservation Board directly. Their website or a phone inquiry would be the best source for this information. Given the campground's popularity on weekends, understanding the reservation system would be particularly important for local users planning a visit.
The positive sentiment expressed by multiple reviewers, such as "Definitely a good park" and "We love Brushy Creek campground this time of year," indicates a generally positive experience for those who have visited. The combination of a well-maintained environment, beach access, and abundant wildlife makes it an attractive option for a variety of campers. For local users seeking a 'camping near me' location that offers both relaxation and recreational opportunities in a natural setting, Brushy Creek Beach Campground appears to be a strong contender.
In conclusion, Brushy Creek Beach Campground near Lehigh, IA, offers a well-maintained camping experience with the significant draw of a beach within walking distance. The presence of abundant wildlife and potential for boating and fishing on Brushy Creek Lake further enhance its appeal. While restroom facilities might vary depending on the season, the availability of clean options is noted. The campground's popularity, especially on weekends, suggests it is a favored destination for local campers. For those in the area looking for a 'camping near me' option that combines natural beauty with recreational activities, contacting the Webster County Conservation Board for more details on amenities, reservations, and fees is highly recommended to plan a visit to Brushy Creek Beach Campground.

Sep 23, 2024 · Paul BondarenkoWe love Brushy Creek campground this time of year, restrooms are closed. They do have restrooms porta potty type but nicer. Lots of wildlife if you drive around docks were still in. Alot of people out this weekend.
Oct 22, 2023 · Jean ColeNice level campground, close to the water and a nice playground. Only drawback was no water available to hook up to in the spots. Water available very close by though so not a huge issue. Clean restrooms/showers. Well maintained grounds. Would visit again.
Sep 14, 2024 · Tracy BrunsThe campsite was nice and quiet with a friendly atmosphere. There is a playground, so it is kid-friendly. I would return and spend some time out here again. Male/female restrooms. Dogs are welcome and leashed. There is a nice little picnic area as well. I enjoyed the experience and the people were great! Also, there are two clean drinking water areas to hook up to your RVs.
