As a listing on the 'Camping Near Me' platform, Buttercup Group Campground provides an opportunity to experience the natural beauty of the San Bernardino National Forest with the convenience of organized group camping facilities. This detailed introduction aims to provide local users with a comprehensive overview of Buttercup Group Campground, drawing upon available information, including real customer reviews, to offer an objective perspective on its environment, services, and features, specifically catering to group camping needs.
Immerse Your Group in the Natural Environment Near Big Bear
Buttercup Group Campground is situated in the Big Bear area, which is known for its stunning natural environment within the San Bernardino National Forest. Campers can expect to be surrounded by a landscape characterized by abundant pine trees, providing shade and a classic mountain forest ambiance. The presence of "little critters" suggests that the area is home to local wildlife, offering opportunities for nature observation and a more immersive outdoor experience for your group. The elevation of Big Bear typically results in a pleasant mountain climate, with cooler temperatures than the surrounding lower regions, making it an attractive destination during warmer months. The specific layout of the group campground is designed to accommodate multiple tents and potentially provide communal spaces for group activities. The mention of "plenty of pines" highlights the natural beauty and the potential for a serene and shaded camping environment for your group. While the immediate surroundings are natural and forested, its location on Bristlecone Dr suggests it is likely accessible and potentially near other recreational areas or facilities within the Big Bear region. The overall environment aims to provide a refreshing escape into nature for group gatherings.
Services and Amenities Catered to Group Camping
Buttercup Group Campground offers services and amenities geared towards accommodating larger groups. A significant point from the reviews is the availability of restrooms. One review mentions that their specific campsite did not have toilets with plumbing (suggesting vault toilets), while campsites "down the road" did. This indicates that while the group campground itself might primarily offer vault toilets, flush toilets may be accessible within the broader area of the camping facilities. Another positive service highlighted is the well-maintained nature of the bathrooms, as noted in a separate review. The presence of an "awesome" camp host is also a significant service, suggesting on-site staff who can assist with inquiries, ensure campground rules are followed, and contribute to a positive camping experience for your group. The first review raises a concern about trash storage, wishing for more space to securely lock away trash at night, especially for a group campsite that generates more waste. This is an important consideration for group leaders to plan for adequate trash management. The availability of water spigots is not explicitly mentioned in the reviews but is a common expectation at organized campgrounds. Given it's a group campground, it likely offers larger, designated campsites capable of accommodating multiple tents and vehicles for a single group reservation. Fire rings and picnic tables are also standard amenities expected at each group campsite.
Features Designed for Group Camping and Recreation
The primary feature of Buttercup Group Campground is its design to accommodate group camping. The review mentioning "Lots of room for camping" indicates that the individual group campsites are spacious enough to comfortably host larger numbers of people and tents. This is a key feature for groups looking to camp together in a shared area. The presence of a picnic area (implied by the need for trash storage) suggests a designated space for group meals and gatherings. The availability of both vault toilets within the group area and potentially flush toilets nearby offers a range of sanitation options. The "awesome" camp host contributes to a positive and organized camping experience for groups. While one review notes "few places for RVs," this suggests that Buttercup Group Campground is primarily oriented towards tent camping groups, and RV accommodations might be limited or less suitable. Groups planning to include RVs should inquire specifically about the availability and suitability of sites for recreational vehicles. The natural setting with "plenty of pines and little critters" provides a natural and engaging environment for group activities and exploration. The overall features of Buttercup Group Campground aim to provide a dedicated and spacious area for groups to enjoy camping in the Big Bear region.

Buttercup Group Campground Reviews
The campsite experience was overall pleasant. It was a nice area with plenty of pines and little critters. The only things I wish were better was trash storage and restrooms. Since it's a group campsite I wish they had more space to lock away trash at night. We ran out of room for all of our bags. The campsites down the road had toilets with plumbing but ours did not. Not a big deal, but it would have made it a 5 star campground.

May 21, 2018 · DyerdogLarge open campground, several tent sites in shaded area all day long. Great camp hosts, very helpful and friendly. Very cool to watch the Marines training night and day in the surrounding area (edge of campground). Many kid activities at ski resort next to campground. Finding Buttercup for the first time was a challenge, study maps beforehand, Google only gets you close. Great cell coverage.
Jul 18, 2018 · Sean WarnerNice and quiet, restrooms kept clean. 4 stars because there's no showers in the campground.
