Camp Bell Campground, located at 8700 NY-415, Campbell, NY 14821, USA, presents itself as a campground with well-maintained grounds and friendly staff, according to one recent review. However, it is crucial to consider all available feedback, including a serious concern raised by another guest regarding bed bug infestations in the cabins. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of Camp Bell Campground based on the limited information available in these two contrasting reviews.
When local users explore the "camping near me" category and encounter Camp Bell Campground, they will find a location that, according to one account, offers a "fantastic" experience with "well maintained grounds" and "very clean" bathrooms and showers. This positive review also highlights the friendliness of the office staff and grounds people, and specifically praises the owner, "Ed," for making their stay great. This suggests that for some campers, Camp Bell Campground provides a pleasant and well-managed environment for their outdoor getaway.
Exploring the Environment and Location
The reviews provide limited information about the specific environment surrounding Camp Bell Campground. However, its location in Campbell, New York, places it within the Finger Lakes region, known for its scenic landscapes, including rolling hills, lakes, and vineyards. While the immediate surroundings of the campground are not detailed, campers might expect a setting that offers a blend of natural beauty and proximity to the attractions of the Finger Lakes. The "well maintained grounds" mentioned in one review suggest that the campground itself takes pride in its appearance and upkeep.
Campbell, NY, is situated in the southern part of the Finger Lakes region, offering potential access to various outdoor activities, wineries, and local attractions. The exact proximity of Camp Bell Campground to these points of interest is not specified in the reviews, but its location along NY-415 suggests it may be relatively accessible. Campers seeking a "camping near me" experience in this part of New York might find Camp Bell Campground a convenient base for exploring the area, provided they consider the conflicting feedback regarding accommodation quality.
Assessing the Services and Amenities
Based on the limited reviews, we can glean some information about the services and amenities offered at Camp Bell Campground:
- Well Maintained Grounds: One reviewer explicitly mentions the well-kept nature of the campground grounds, suggesting an effort towards a pleasant outdoor environment.
- Clean Bathrooms and Showers: The cleanliness of the bathroom and shower facilities is highlighted as a positive aspect by one guest.
- Office Staff and Grounds People: The staff are described as "very friendly," contributing to a positive guest experience, at least according to one review.
- Cabins: The campground offers cabins as an accommodation option. However, it is critical to note the severe negative feedback regarding bed bug infestations in these cabins.
The stark contrast between the positive review regarding the overall campground and the serious accusation of bed bugs in the cabins presents a complex picture. While the grounds and general facilities may be well-regarded by some, potential guests, especially those considering cabin rentals, should be aware of the significant concern raised by another camper. There is no information in these reviews about RV or tent site amenities, such as hookups, fire pits, or picnic tables.
Considering the Features and Potential Issues
Features of Camp Bell Campground, based on the limited information, appear to include:
- RV and Tent Sites (Implied): As a campground, it can be reasonably assumed that RV and tent sites are available, although details about these sites are lacking in the provided reviews.
- Cabin Rentals: An accommodation option offered, but with a critical warning about potential bed bug infestations.
- Friendly Staff (According to one review): The staff are portrayed as welcoming and helpful by one guest.
The most significant feature that potential guests must consider is the serious allegation of bed bugs in the cabins. This issue raises concerns about the cleanliness and maintenance of these specific accommodations and the owner's response to such problems. The negative review claims that the owner was aware of the issue but did not effectively address it and was rude to the guest who reported it. This directly contradicts the positive review that praises the owner's role in ensuring a great stay. This discrepancy makes it challenging to form a definitive assessment of the overall quality and management of Camp Bell Campground.

To inquire about potential promotions, local users would need to contact the campground directly at (607) 527-3301 or +1 607-527-3301. - Off-Season Offers: Lower rates during less popular camping times.
Interested local users should contact Camp Bell Campground directly to inquire about availability, pricing, and any current promotions that might be offered for RV sites, tent sites, or, if they choose to consider them despite the warning, the cabins. It would be prudent for anyone considering a cabin rental to specifically inquire about the campground's pest control practices and recent history.
Summary and Considerations for Local Users Seeking "Camping Near Me"
Camp Bell Campground in Campbell, NY, presents a mixed picture based on the limited reviews available. One guest reported a positive experience with well-maintained grounds, clean facilities, and friendly staff, including the owner. This suggests that the campground may offer a pleasant environment for RV and tent camping. However, a serious concern was raised by another guest regarding a bed bug infestation in the cabins and a negative interaction with the owner regarding this issue.
For local users considering Camp Bell Campground for their "camping near me" needs, the following points should be carefully considered:
- Positive Aspects: Well-maintained grounds (according to one review), clean bathrooms and showers (according to one review), and friendly staff and owner (according to one review).
- Negative Aspects: A serious accusation of bed bug infestation in the cabins and a report of rude behavior from the owner in response to this issue.
- Limited Information: Lack of details regarding RV and tent site amenities, overall campground environment, and specific services offered.
Given the conflicting reports, local users might want to exercise caution, especially if considering a cabin rental. It would be wise to contact Camp Bell Campground directly to inquire about their pest control measures, the current condition of their cabins, and the amenities available for RV and tent sites. While one reviewer had a positive experience, the serious nature of a bed bug infestation cannot be ignored. For those with their own RV or tent, and who prioritize well-maintained grounds and potentially friendly service, Camp Bell Campground might still be an option, but further inquiry is strongly recommended to make an informed decision.

Camp Bell Campground Reviews
Do not stay in the cabins; they are bed bug ridden. The owner claims to spray the cabins weekly for bed bugs but obviously does not understand that bed bug infestations are not fixed with pesticides. The owner had the audacity to be rude to my wife over the phone when we notified them of the infestation.
Feb 12, 2025 · Kyle GelnettThis campground was fantastic. Well maintained grounds. Bathrooms and showers were very clean. Office staff and grounds people were very friendly. The owner "Ed" was top shelf. He made our stay great.
Sep 23, 2024 · David DouttielWe spent about a week here and it was fabulous. Convenient to local attractions yet on a very peaceful location. Our neighbor Diane was very pleasant - always had a smile on her face plus always had a treat for our Roscoe. She and her husband are residents in the park and she told us about a concert in the amphitheater. Very enjoyable time was had by all. The office staff was very helpful. One of the owners - Ed - was always on his club car or on his tractor. He also got to know Roscoe and had treats galore for all the pets.
Jun 04, 2024 · Michael MaloneMy family stayed at this campground from Friday-Sunday this past weekend and Sunday morning I woke up with hundreds of bug bites all over my body. I did not want to think the worst, but we found a bedbug in one of our bags that had been inside the cabin, and myself and my family members continue finding new bites on us and are trying to control this problem before it really gets out of hand. I called the owner this morning to let him know about the issue and he was immediately defensive and told me the cabins are sprayed weekly. As far as I know bedbugs are not really affected by insecticides. I recommend not staying in their cabins. I wish I had seen the review from a year ago warning of a bedbug infestation in the cabins even that long ago, this is unfolding into the worst nightmarish experience of my life.
Oct 16, 2024 · Kelsey GelnettVery nice campground and staff were great. Check in a breeze and get your discounted tickets for the Rockwell museum and Corning Glass Museum right there at the office. Easy maneuvering for our 45' motorhome. Had water and electric for the two days there with dump station close for when we left. Didn't get to use any of the amenities and the playground was adorable.
