Frazier's Campground Introduce
For local residents in search of 'camping near me' with a strong emphasis on lake access and fishing, Frazier's Campground, located at 45501 Co Hwy 31, Pelican Rapids, MN 56572, USA, presents itself as a destination centered around a highly regarded lake. You can contact them at (218) 863-1844 or +1 218-863-1844 for inquiries and bookings.
The primary environmental feature of Frazier's Campground, based on customer reviews, is its direct access to what is described as the "best lake ever" for fishing. This suggests that the campground is situated directly on or very near a lake known for its excellent fishing opportunities. The specific types of fish mentioned include Northern Pike, walleye, crappie, sunfish, and largemouth bass, indicating a diverse and potentially abundant fish population that would appeal greatly to local anglers. The environment would therefore be characterized by the lake itself, its shoreline, and the surrounding landscape of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, which typically includes a mix of forests, open fields, and other smaller bodies of water.
In terms of services and features, information from the provided reviews offers a somewhat mixed perspective. One reviewer with a longer history with the campground suggests a decline over the years, mentioning high charges even for campers without hookups and a lack of apparent upgrades or upkeep despite the pricing. This review specifically criticizes the size of the fish house and the condition of the bathhouse, describing it as unsanitary. This perspective suggests that while the natural environment (the lake) remains a strong draw, the facilities and overall maintenance of the campground may be areas of concern for potential local users.
On the other hand, the second, more concise review focuses solely on the positive aspect of the lake and its exceptional fishing. This highlights the core attraction of Frazier's Campground for those primarily interested in angling. The lack of detail in this positive review, however, doesn't provide information about other services or amenities that might be available.
Based on the limited information, we can infer some potential services that Frazier's Campground might offer, although their quality is called into question by one review. These could include campsites for RVs and tents, potentially with varying levels of hookups (water, electricity, sewer), although the pricing structure for even basic sites is noted as being high. The mention of a "fish house" suggests a facility for cleaning and preparing fish, which would be a significant feature for anglers. The presence of a bathhouse, while criticized for its condition, indicates that restroom and shower facilities are available to campers.
Other common campground features that might be present, but are not explicitly mentioned in the reviews, could include a check-in office, trash disposal areas, and possibly a boat launch or docking facilities given the emphasis on lake access and fishing. There might also be picnic tables or fire rings at individual campsites, although this is not confirmed. The negative review's comparison to other long-term campgrounds with more activities and a more welcoming atmosphere suggests that Frazier's Campground might lack in terms of recreational amenities beyond the lake itself and the fish house.
Promotional information for Frazier's Campground, aimed at local users searching for 'camping near me' with a focus on fishing, would undoubtedly highlight the exceptional fishing opportunities on the lake. Testimonials like "Best lake ever. Excellent fishing..." would likely be prominently featured. The specific types of fish available (Northern Pike, walleye, crappie, sunfish, and largemouth bass) would be listed to attract anglers targeting these species. The campground's direct access to the lake and any facilities related to fishing, such as the fish house, would be key selling points.
However, to provide a balanced and objective introduction as requested, it is crucial to also acknowledge the concerns raised in the negative review. Local users should be aware of the reported high pricing, even for basic sites, and the alleged lack of upkeep and substandard condition of facilities like the bathhouse. The reviewer's perception of a decline in quality over the years and a less welcoming atmosphere compared to other long-term campgrounds should also be considered by potential visitors.
Therefore, any promotional efforts should ideally address these concerns or highlight any recent improvements that might have been made to the facilities and overall campground experience. Transparency regarding pricing for different types of sites and hookups would also be beneficial for local users trying to make an informed decision.
For local campers primarily focused on excellent fishing and lake access, Frazier's Campground appears to offer a prime location. However, they should be prepared for potentially higher costs and the possibility of outdated or poorly maintained facilities based on the available reviews. It would be prudent for interested local users to contact Frazier's Campground directly at the provided phone numbers to inquire about current pricing, the condition of the bathhouse and other facilities, and any recent upgrades or changes. They might also want to seek more recent reviews from other sources to get a broader perspective on the current state of the campground.
In conclusion, Frazier's Campground near Pelican Rapids, MN, is positioned around a lake renowned for its exceptional fishing, offering local anglers direct access to a variety of popular fish species. While the lake and fishing appear to be its strongest features, potential local users should be aware of reports suggesting high pricing and a decline in the condition and upkeep of the campground facilities, including the bathhouse. For those prioritizing fishing above all else, Frazier's Campground might be a viable 'camping near me' option, but it is recommended to make direct inquiries to understand the current situation fully before making a reservation.

Frazier's Campground Reviews
Use to be a great place for families & to get away from…It has gone down hill significantly over the years they will charge you an arm and a leg even if you don’t have a camper with any hook ups and for as much as they charge people you see no sort!of upgrades/upkeep. Fish house could be bigger, The bath house makes you feel like you’re going to walk out with a bunch of diseases. I’ve been to other long term campgrounds and they have so much more to do & make it welcoming. The only thing this place has to offer is the lake & fishing.
