Look no further than Central Avenue Walk-in Campsites, located at 45 Central Ave, Beverly Shores, IN 46301, USA. Situated in Beverly Shores, Indiana, it appears to offer access to the stunning landscapes of the Indiana Dunes National Park area, blending beachside beauty with the serenity of nature.
The Environment: Beach and Secluded Woodlands
Based on customer reviews, the environment surrounding Central Avenue Walk-in Campsites is truly captivating. One reviewer highlights a "beautiful beach" that is accessible, although the access involves a "steep descending" path. This suggests that while reaching the beach might require some effort, the reward is well worth it with potentially breathtaking views and the opportunity to enjoy the shores of Lake Michigan. The presence of "great paved parking large enough for any size rig or RV" indicates that even if you're not staying directly at a walk-in site, the area accommodates larger vehicles for beach access and potentially for those looking to explore the region.
For the walk-in campsites themselves, one review of site #2 describes it as "a little over a 5-minute walk-in to a very large clearing." This paints a picture of relative seclusion and privacy, away from the immediate parking area. The mention of it being "very private, very quiet, except for distant train noise" suggests a peaceful natural setting where you can truly unwind. The combination of proximity to a beautiful beach and the secluded nature of the walk-in sites makes Central Avenue Walk-in Campsites a compelling option for those seeking a diverse outdoor experience.
Services and Amenities Available
While the campsites themselves are walk-in, basic amenities are available for camper convenience. The review of site #2 notes that each site includes a "picnic table and fire ring," essential for enjoying meals outdoors and having campfires (if you bring your own firewood). Furthermore, "water and flush toilets are available at the end of the beach path," indicating that while the campsites offer privacy, necessary facilities are within a reasonable walking distance. The availability of flush toilets is a notable convenience often appreciated by campers.
The review also mentions that the reviewer had "2 bars of Verizon 4G LTE Roaming," which could be important for those who wish to stay connected, although the primary appeal of this campground seems to be its natural setting. The presence of "great paved parking" benefits all visitors, whether they are using the walk-in sites or just accessing the beach.

Central Avenue Walk-in Campsites Reviews
Beautiful beach, steep descending access but so worth it. Great paved parking large enough for any size rig or RV. I had 2 bars of Verizon 4G LTE Roaming.
Oct 15, 2024 · Will HandleyStayed late May in site #2. A little over a 5-minute walk-in to a very large clearing. Very private, very quiet, except for distant train noise. Site includes picnic table and fire ring, if you want to haul (or roll) in your firewood. Water and flush toilets are available at the end of the beach path. We found a couple of ticks in the site so stay aware. Stopping at the national park info center is suggested to get an overnight parking pass (though not strictly required).
Jun 02, 2024 · Ian DuttonSite 1 is the only one that can be access near the entrance. 2, 3, 4, and 5 are a hike up very deep in before you get to the camp site. Hard to carry things up. We end up getting a hotel after after stopping by the Park Avenue Beach. It was beautiful to see the sunset by the beach.
Jul 26, 2024 · LuluWe stayed last August in site number 1. It's beautiful and private and close to the beach. But I have never experienced such ferocious mosquitoes. We just went from the beach straight into our tents at night--it's that or Deet because the organic mosquito repellent wasn't enough to keep them away. A family that had a site further in the woods came running out and said they got a hotel because they couldn't deal with the mosquitoes. But it's a great inexpensive place to stay very close to the beach, so if you take a screened dining tent (we didn't) it would be fine, though you will have to hike it in and up the hill to the site. Maybe some of the sites further in aren't up a steep hill.
