When local users look for "camping near me," the variety of camping spots and the overall atmosphere are often key factors. This Campground seems to offer both. According to one review, there are different loops within the campground, each with its own character. Loop A features "nice, paved pull thru spots," which are particularly convenient for RVs. For those seeking a different vibe, Loop C offers "gravel spots" and a "more laid back atmosphere" in the reviewer's opinion. This suggests that the campground caters to different preferences, whether you prefer the ease of a paved pull-through or a more relaxed, perhaps more rustic, gravel site.
Environment and Features:
The campground's environment includes a lake, which, even during an off-season visit in December, was noted for its "quiet and still waters" and attracted "beautiful birds." This indicates that the lake is a scenic feature, likely offering opportunities for bird watching and enjoying the peaceful waterfront. While swimming was not taking place during the reviewer's winter visit, the presence of a lake often implies swimming and other water-related activities are available during warmer months.
The campground has seen "lots of updates" since a previous visit, which is always a positive sign. One specific update mentioned is the "new blacktop" in the beach parking area, suggesting that the campground management is investing in improvements for visitors.
For families, the "play grounds for the children looked like a lot of fun," making this a potentially great option if you're searching for "camping near me" that includes amenities for kids.
The campground is also pet-friendly, as one reviewer brought their dog, Piper, who "loved running around exploring." This is good news for those who like to camp with their furry companions.
The reviewer also noted that "There are a lot of nice spots to choose from," although they cautioned that availability might be limited due to popularity, suggesting that it's wise to book in advance.
Services and Amenities:
Regarding facilities, the restrooms were described as "mostly nice outhouses, with a couple well placed shower facilities." This gives a general idea of what to expect in terms of hygiene amenities. The mention of both outhouses and shower facilities indicates a range of options, with showers being available at least in some locations within the campground.

Campground Reviews
We absolutely love this campground; it's one of our favorites! Loop A has some nice, paved pull thru spots. Our favorite loop is C; there's gravel spots back there, but a more laid back atmosphere in my opinion.
Apr 30, 2024 · Erika OstrowskiWe visited on December 16th. The weather is quite mild for this time of the year. There was practically noone at the park. We brought our bikes and dog. We had a great time exploring on our bikes. There are lots of updates since visiting the last time. The beach parking has new blacktop. Of course no swimming was going on, but there were a few beautiful birds taking advantage of the quiet and still waters. We heard some unrecognizable to us bird sounds. The play grounds for the children looked like a lot of fun. Piper loved running around exploring and chasing after her chew toy. There are a lot of nice spots to choose from, that is if you can find a date they are available. I'm sure they bookup early. The restrooms were mostly nice outhouses, with a couple well placed shower facilities. We can't wait until we are able to come back and camp. I hope you get to visit, save us a spot. It is a smaller park, but very nice.
Dec 18, 2023 · Dawn MarieWe really enjoy camping at Whitewater state park. We camp in the winter and we were the only ones in the entire campground! That's pretty AWESOME!! Just wish they had 50 Amp full hookup sites. They only have 30 Amp.
Feb 25, 2022 · Doug TurnerDid not have time to see the lake because we just stayed here overnight. Beautiful area. It was nice and quiet when we we stayed.
Jul 18, 2023 · ja bergWe love it over here at any time of the year. We camp during the week so it is never crowded. Very nice place. I had to get a pic of my wifes idea of hiking. Lol
