Campsite 78 Introduce
For local residents in the vicinity of Little Orleans, Maryland, searching for "camping near me," Campsite 78, located at Little Orleans, MD 21766, USA, presents a specific option within the local camping landscape. Based on recent customer reviews, it's crucial for prospective campers, particularly tent campers, to be aware of the unique characteristics of this particular site before making a reservation. The reviews provide candid feedback regarding the terrain and suitability for different types of camping.
The environment of Campsite 78 is primarily described as being situated on a slope or hillside. Multiple reviewers emphasize the significantly slanted nature of the majority of the site. While there are reportedly a few small level spots that can accommodate tent camping, these areas are limited. One reviewer explicitly states that the site has "virtually no level ground," highlighting the challenge even for a single-person tent. Another corroborates this, mentioning the struggle to find a suitable spot for a small tent, though ultimately managing to make it work. This terrain suggests that while the area might offer the natural beauty of a hillside location, the practicality for setting up camp, especially for larger tents or multiple tents, is considerably limited.
Despite the challenges with the slope, one positive aspect of Campsite 78 mentioned by a reviewer is the "wonderful view." This suggests that the elevated position of the site might offer scenic vistas of the surrounding area. Additionally, the campsite is noted to be "close to 15 Mile Creek," indicating potential access to this local waterway. Proximity to a creek often provides opportunities for activities such as fishing, wading, or simply enjoying the sounds of flowing water, enhancing the overall outdoor experience for those willing to navigate the sloped terrain.
Considering the "camping near me" platform category, local users specifically looking for tent camping options should approach Campsite 78 with realistic expectations based on the provided reviews. The services and features directly associated with this individual campsite, as gleaned from the feedback, are somewhat limited and primarily revolve around its natural setting:
- Limited Level Tent Spots: The primary feature is the availability of a few small areas suitable for pitching tents, though the majority of the site is slanted.
- Scenic Views: The hillside location potentially offers pleasant views of the surrounding landscape.
- Proximity to 15 Mile Creek: Campers at this site benefit from its nearness to the creek, allowing for potential access and enjoyment of the water.
Conversely, the reviews explicitly advise against certain types of camping at Campsite 78. One reviewer strongly recommends against it for "camping trailers," and humorously, for "drunks," likely due to the uneven and sloped ground posing significant challenges for leveling and stability. This is a critical piece of information for local users who own camping trailers or are considering bringing one to this specific site.
Promotional information specific to Campsite 78 is not provided in the reviews. As it appears to be a single campsite within a larger campground or camping area (given the numbering "78"), any promotional offers would likely be associated with the overall campground rather than this individual site. Local users interested in camping in the Little Orleans area should contact the phone numbers provided ((301) 478-3124 or +1 301-478-3124) to inquire about the campground as a whole, including the availability and rates for Campsite 78 and any other sites that might be more suitable for their needs, especially if they are using camping trailers or require more level ground for tent camping.
For local tent campers specifically considering Campsite 78 based on its proximity to 15 Mile Creek and potential views, the reviews serve as a crucial warning about the site's terrain. It appears best suited for minimalist tent campers who are comfortable with uneven ground and require only a small, relatively level area for a single or possibly two very small tents. Campers with larger tents or those who prefer more stable and level ground should likely inquire about other campsites within the same campground. The fact that one reviewer initially thought the site was fairly level suggests that there might be variability within the campground, making it essential to seek detailed information about other available sites.
In summary, Campsite 78 near Little Orleans, MD, offers a location with potentially wonderful views and proximity to 15 Mile Creek. However, the overwhelming feedback from reviewers indicates that the site is significantly sloped with very limited level ground, making it challenging even for small tent setups and unsuitable for camping trailers. Local users searching for "camping near me" in this area who are primarily tent campers should be aware of these limitations and consider contacting the campground directly to inquire about other, potentially more level, campsites. Those with camping trailers should definitively avoid Campsite 78 based on the provided reviews.
To make an informed decision about camping in the Little Orleans area, local residents should call (301) 478-3124 or +1 301-478-3124 to get more information about the overall campground, the availability of other campsites, and any specific details regarding the terrain and amenities offered at each site. Understanding the characteristics of different campsites within the campground will allow local users to choose the option that best suits their camping style and equipment.

Campsite 78 is is on a slope/ hillside does have a few small level spots for tent camping. But, most of the sight is very slanted. Not recommend for camping trailers or drunks lol.Wonderful view. Close to 15 mile creek.
Jan 08, 2024 · Shane FrazerThe person who said that this site is fairly level must have been confusing 78 with another site. This site has virtually no level ground. I struggled to find a good spot for a one person tent, but ultimately made it work. If you're tent camping, even two small tents is a bit of a stretch for this site. Other than that, a perfectly serviceable site.
Feb 12, 2024 · Bryce WalburnGreat site that is fairly level, spacious for several vehicles and tents, and nice and grassy green. I especially like that this is a fairly private site even though it is right along the red trail as it does the road.
