Green Ridge Campsite #81 Introduce
For local outdoor enthusiasts seeking a distinctive "camping near me" experience in a potentially secluded riverside setting, Green Ridge Campsite #81, located off Mountain Rd in Little Orleans, MD 21766, USA, offers a compelling option. While a direct phone number for this specific campsite is not provided, it is likely part of the broader Green Ridge State Forest system, and inquiries or reservations might be handled through the state forest's main contact channels. Based on the limited but insightful customer reviews, Campsite #81 boasts desirable features such as river proximity and ample space, though access requires consideration.
One reviewer described Campsite #81 as a "medium size site," suggesting it can comfortably accommodate two camping rigs, although fitting three might be a tight squeeze. This information is valuable for groups planning to camp together, allowing them to assess if the site can adequately accommodate their equipment and number of vehicles. The reviewer also noted the campsite's proximity to the river, estimated to be about 15 feet away, which is a significant draw for those who enjoy riverside camping activities and the soothing ambiance of flowing water. However, this proximity also comes with a note that the site is close to the road, which might be a consideration for campers seeking complete seclusion from vehicle traffic noise.
A crucial piece of information from the first review is the access requirement: "Definitely need a 4x4 or something with some ground clearance due to the hill or slope to get down into the site." This is a critical factor for prospective campers, as standard passenger vehicles might not be suitable for navigating the terrain leading to Campsite #81. Ensuring your vehicle meets this requirement is essential for a safe and hassle-free arrival and departure. This also suggests that the campsite might offer a greater sense of seclusion and a more rugged camping experience due to its less accessible nature.
The second reviewer's experience at Campsite #81, which they reached "by sheer accident," was overwhelmingly positive. They described it as an "absolutely lovely site!" highlighting its size ("large"), level terrain ("flat"), and the notable feature of having "2 fire pits." Multiple fire pits can be a significant advantage for larger groups or those who enjoy having separate areas for cooking and a recreational campfire. The reviewer also confirmed that the site is "right on the water," further emphasizing its desirable riverside location.
Regarding accessibility, the second reviewer found it "easy (mostly) to get to," which seems to contradict the first reviewer's strong recommendation for a 4x4 vehicle. This discrepancy might suggest that the difficulty of access could depend on the specific vehicle, driving conditions, or the exact approach to the site. It would be prudent for potential campers to seek more detailed information about the access road or slope, possibly through the managing authority (Green Ridge State Forest) if a direct contact for the campsite is unavailable.
The second reviewer also provided valuable information about the proximity of neighboring campsites, specifically mentioning Site #82. They noted that while Site #82 is "pretty close by," it is "not close enough to feel like other people were 'right there'." This is reassuring for campers who value a degree of privacy and space between campsites. Knowing that adjacent sites are within reasonable proximity but still offer a sense of personal space can contribute to a more enjoyable and relaxed camping experience.
Based on these reviews, the environment of Green Ridge Campsite #81 is characterized by its riverside location, likely offering scenic views and the sounds of the river. The presence of multiple fire pits suggests a campsite well-suited for campfires and outdoor cooking. The varying descriptions of access (requiring 4x4 versus mostly easy) indicate that the terrain leading to the site might be challenging for some vehicles. The size of the site appears to be ample, comfortably accommodating at least two rigs and offering a large, flat area for tents and other camping setups. The proximity to the road mentioned by one reviewer suggests that complete isolation from traffic noise might not be guaranteed.
Information regarding services and amenities specific to Campsite #81 is limited in the provided reviews. As part of Green Ridge State Forest, it is likely to offer basic amenities typical of state forest campsites, such as designated camping areas and possibly picnic tables. Water sources and restroom facilities might be available within the broader campground area of Green Ridge State Forest, but not necessarily directly at Site #81. Campers should be prepared for a more rustic camping experience and bring their own supplies, including water purification if relying on the river. Information about trash disposal and other regulations within Green Ridge State Forest would also be relevant.
Features of Green Ridge Campsite #81 include its direct river access, the large and flat camping area, and the presence of two fire pits. The potential for a more secluded experience due to the challenging access for some vehicles could also be considered a feature for those seeking a more off-the-beaten-path campsite. The proximity to Green Ridge State Forest itself offers access to a wide range of recreational activities, including hiking trails, fishing, and wildlife viewing, although these are not specific to Campsite #81 itself.
No specific promotional information is available for Green Ridge Campsite #81 in the provided text. As part of a state forest system, pricing and reservation policies are typically set by the state. Local users interested in camping at Site #81 would need to investigate the reservation system for Green Ridge State Forest, if one exists, or inquire about the availability and any associated fees. Information about permits or entry fees for the state forest might also be necessary.
In conclusion, Green Ridge Campsite #81 offers a potentially lovely and spacious riverside "camping near me" option within Green Ridge State Forest near Little Orleans, MD. Its features include a large, flat area suitable for multiple camping setups and the convenience of two fire pits. However, prospective campers must carefully consider the access requirements, with at least one review strongly suggesting the need for a 4x4 or high-clearance vehicle. While the site offers river proximity and a degree of separation from neighboring campsites, its closeness to the road might be a factor for some. Local users interested in this unique campsite should seek further information from Green Ridge State Forest regarding reservations, access conditions, available amenities, and any applicable fees to ensure a well-prepared and enjoyable camping experience.

Medium size site, good fit for two rigs three is pushing it. Close to the river, about 15ft or so but also close to the road. Definitely need a 4x4 or something with some ground clearance due to the hill or slope to get down into the site.

Sep 17, 2024 · Natasha GreenmanThe rocky creek is awesome! However the site is pretty small and surrounded by poison ivy. It's also close to the neighbors and not very private.
Jun 16, 2023 · Richard Guegood campground, had a really nice cliff overlooking it and there's a cool ruin a little ways up the road. I made it there with a Hyundai ioniq (i was nervous but it was possible). Part of the campsite was a bit muddy, but there was still plenty of space for tents. There's a nice creek a little behind in the woods (which are also good to go to the bathroom in).
