Canby Ferry RV Campground Introduce
For local users searching for "camping near me," Canby Ferry RV Campground, situated at 500 S Brooksburg Main St, Madison, IN 47250, USA, offers a no-frills RV camping experience right along the scenic Ohio River. Based on the available customer reviews, this campground provides essential hookups and convenient access to local attractions, making it a potential option for self-contained RV travelers.
The environment of Canby Ferry RV Campground is notably defined by its location directly along the Ohio River. This prime riverside setting offers potentially beautiful river views, as highlighted by one reviewer. The proximity to the river also provides easy access to a boat launch, making it an attractive option for campers who enjoy boating and water-related activities. Additionally, its location near a boat repair place could be a significant advantage for those who may require such services during their travels. The campground is also conveniently located just five minutes from downtown Madison, Indiana, allowing campers to easily explore the historic charm, shops, and restaurants of the city. One reviewer described the sites as "cement slab sites" that are "pretty level" with "nice gravel around the driveway," indicating a well-maintained and stable camping surface. However, another reviewer pointed out an issue with maintenance, noting that "lots had not been mowed for a couple of weeks," resulting in tall grass and weeds that rendered the fire pit unusable. This suggests that while the overall environment has its advantages, the upkeep of individual sites can be inconsistent and is something potential visitors should be aware of.
In terms of services, Canby Ferry RV Campground offers full hookups, including water, sewer, and electric, as explicitly mentioned by a satisfied camper who appreciated these amenities as they are self-contained and did not require bathhouses or Wi-Fi. This indicates that the campground caters primarily to RV travelers who have their own onboard facilities. The owner is described as responsive and helpful, suggesting good customer service in terms of communication and assistance. However, it is important to note the explicit mention that the campground offers "no Wi-Fi or bath houses." This lack of common amenities is a crucial factor for potential visitors to consider, especially those who rely on internet access or communal restroom facilities. The campground is also described as "dog friendly," which is a significant plus for travelers with pets. The combination of full hookups and a dog-friendly policy, coupled with responsive management, suggests a focus on providing the essentials for self-sufficient RV campers.
The features of Canby Ferry RV Campground are centered around its location and the basic amenities it provides. The cement slab sites with full hookups are a key feature, offering a stable and convenient setup for RVs. The proximity to the boat launch is a significant feature for boating enthusiasts, providing easy access to the Ohio River. The nearby boat repair place adds a practical benefit for those who might need such services. The short drive to downtown Madison expands the range of features available to campers, including access to dining, shopping, and historical attractions. The dog-friendly policy ensures that pet owners can comfortably include their animals in their travel plans. However, the absence of Wi-Fi and bathhouses means that these are not features offered by the campground, and campers need to be prepared to be self-sufficient in these areas. The availability of a fire pit at each lot is implied by the negative review regarding unmowed grass, suggesting that this is a standard feature, although its usability can be affected by maintenance. Overall, the features are geared towards providing a functional base for exploring the area and enjoying the river, primarily for RVers who do not require extensive campground amenities.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available for Canby Ferry RV Campground based on the provided reviews. To learn about any seasonal rates, discounts for longer stays, or other special offers, local users should contact the campground directly via phone at (812) 292-4159 or +1 812-292-4159. Given its location and the basic amenities offered, the pricing might be competitive for RV sites with full hookups in the area. Inquiring about pricing for different site types (if available) and any potential deals would be a prudent step for those considering a stay. It's also worth asking about the typical maintenance schedule for the campsites to avoid issues like overgrown grass.
In conclusion, Canby Ferry RV Campground in Madison, Indiana, offers a convenient and functional camping option for self-contained RV travelers seeking a location right on the Ohio River with full hookups. Its proximity to a boat launch and downtown Madison are significant advantages. The responsive owner and dog-friendly policy add to its appeal. However, potential visitors should be aware of the lack of Wi-Fi and bathhouses and the possibility of inconsistent site maintenance, as highlighted in one review. For local users searching for "camping near me" with these considerations in mind, contacting Canby Ferry RV Campground directly for more details on availability, pricing, and current conditions is recommended to ensure it meets their specific needs for a riverside RV camping experience.

Canby Ferry RV Campground Reviews
Cement slab sites (pretty level and nice gravel around driveway)with water, sewer and electric. Set right near a boat launch and also a boat repair place. 5 min from Madison Indiana downtown.Owner responded quickly and was helpful. No frills kind of place, but clean and well kept and right along the Ohio River. Dog friendly , no Wi-Fi or bath houses. We are self contained so didn't need any amenities besides full hook up.We'd definitely stay again. 😊
Sep 27, 2024 · Brigit KowalczykRiver view was very nice. Lots had not been mowed for a couple of weeks. Grass and weeds were tall enough you couldn’t use the fire pit. The lots should have been mowed before the weekend.
