Environment: Riverside Beauty and City Proximity
The standout feature of Riverview Campground's environment is its location "on the river." This promises scenic views and the soothing sounds of flowing water, enhancing your "camping near me" experience. One reviewer specifically mentioned having a "great site on the river and loved every minute." Furthermore, the location is described as "perfect for a nice walk into the city along the river," offering a unique blend of natural beauty and urban accessibility. This allows campers to easily explore the charming city of Madison without having to drive. The presence of "big trees" is not explicitly mentioned, but riverfront locations often have mature vegetation, potentially providing some shade. While one review noted that "sites are a bit tight," the allure of being right on the river seems to outweigh this for many visitors. For those wanting "camping near me" with both natural beauty and convenient access to local amenities, Riverview Campground seems to offer a compelling combination.
Services and Amenities: Friendly Hosts and Clean Facilities
Riverview Campground prides itself on its friendly and helpful hosts, Doug and Georgia, who "couldn't be any more friendly or helpful" and "go above and beyond to make guests feel welcome and comfortable." This personal touch significantly elevates the camping experience. The campground offers "convenient water and electricity hookups," making it suitable for RV campers. It's worth noting that one reviewer needed a second water hose (beyond a 25-foot one), so longer hoses might be advisable for some sites. The restrooms are described as "older but very clean and tidy," indicating that while the facilities might not be brand new, cleanliness is a priority. Riverview Campground is also pet-friendly, as one reviewer mentioned their "little 10# fur baby loved that," making it a great option for those seeking "camping near me" with their pets. The core services of water, electricity, clean restrooms, and the exceptional hospitality of the hosts contribute to a positive camping experience.

One recurring concern mentioned by reviewers is the "security lights that come on at dusk and are super bright," which some found detracted from enjoying the river at night and let a lot of ambient light into their campers. This is something to be aware of, although it didn't overshadow the overall positive experiences of the reviewers. As it's a "city-owned campground," one reviewer mentioned contacting Parks and Rec about this issue, suggesting that while the hosts are wonderful, some aspects are managed by the city.

Riverview Campground Reviews
Just left there and it was a wonderful experience. We had a great site on the river and loved every minute. Doug and Georgia are the hosts and couldn't be any more friendly or helpful. Location is perfect for a nice walk into the city along the river. Our little 10# fur baby loved that. The sites are a bit tight but doable. Convenient water and electricity hookups although we had to break out the second water hose as the first one (25') was about a foot too short. Restrooms are older but very clean and tidy. The only real downside is the security lights that come on at dusk and are super bright. Kind of takes the beauty out of watching the river at night not to mention how much ambient light comes in your camper even with shades down. Since this is a city owned campground, we contacted Parks and Rec to share our concern. Otherwise, we can't wait to go back.
May 13, 2024 · Ginny ShineRiverview and Madison is a great find! The campground hosts go above and beyond to make guests feel welcome and comfortable. Site 17 is tight, but we made it work. Thr bathrooms are clean but aged. One suggestion would be to be able to control the pole lights at night for a better camping experience. Overall, a wonderful stay! See you in October!!!
Aug 25, 2024 · Keri LangnerDoug and Georgia were terrific hosts, very prompt with responses and accommodating the campers! Dough and Georgia supply a welcome package with activities, places to eat etc. It is very helpful if you are a 1st time visitor to the town of Madison. They keep the camping area well maintained! This is a smaller campground but is quaint and comfortable and we have meet some really awesome people each time we camp there! The location is perfect for bicycling, E bikes, or renting a golf cart to venture through the beautiful historical town of Madison! You can also rent golf carts from a company in Madison and they will bring/pickup to your camp site!Best regards,Bernie and Tammy(GMC 1977 Coach)
Sep 04, 2024 · Tammy HumphreyExcellent unassuming campground on the river, a short walk to downtown. The hosts were super communicative! Clean site and clean bathrooms. Great experience. We'll go back.
Nov 04, 2024 · Patrick SouthallGreat place to stay and take in all Madison IN has to offer. Easy access to everything via walk, bike, car or golf cart. Super easy to get a golf cart registration at the police department nearby. Hosts were AMAZING, so helpful and visit often making sure you had a great stay. Only reason I couldn't give 5 was it is on a residential roadway, so extreme caution is encouraged with children or pets as traffic was pretty regular at times. We were not bothered by the noise as it was mostly daytime hours and quiet at night. Otherwise, we had a fantastic experience and look forward to doing it again!
