Love to listen to your windows shake at night? Want your small children to be up until midnight because of a speaker war party going on directly behind your cabin? This is the place for you!Let me say the positives: our cabin was the perfect size if you’re just looking for a place to sleep after a long day in the park. Clean. Shuttle to a from park is great. Front desk was not super knowledgeable about the actual park but helped us as much as they could.Negatives: the only negatives from the cabin itself were that we didn’t have a shower head and no complimentary toiletries provided which I feel is pretty standard for a resort style rental.Location: night 1. At the time of check in around 8:30 pm extremely loud music was playing around the cabin. When escorted to the cabin we were told by staff, “oh yeah it’s a warehouse parking lot behind us. It can sometimes go on until 1 or 2 am every Friday and Saturday night. Earplugs and hope for the best.” This music continued until around 11 the windows were shaking from the bass of the music. we had enough and went outside finding other campers outside their rentals as well calling the police. Tried to find a hotel for the night as we have small children needing to sleep but best was $300 a night downtown and we almost took it but decided to see if it would stop. We went to the security office and they stated they had called already. Around 11:30 pm the music turned off.Day 2: discussed with campground check in that this was a very large issue as it being a family campground with small children. We were told that emails had been sent to management already that were kindly dismissed as an off-property problem.Night 2: we thought we had lucked up but at 10 pm music began again this time shaking the cabin to the point of soap falling into the sink. Police called again by many campers and music off around 11:30 again. This being an ongoing problem, I would not stay here again due to the simple fact we were only staying there as a place to sleep which was hard to obtain. City ordinance daytime 8 am-11 pm noise is no greater than 85 decibels and no greater than 65 decibels after 11 pm. This far surpassed these and I hated bothering police with such a trivial problem but it was clear that was our only option. - Hope Johnson

Carowinds Camp Wilderness Introduce

Looking for a lodging option in the 'camping near me' category that offers convenient access to Carowinds amusement park? Carowinds Camp Wilderness, located at 14609 Catawba Trce in Charlotte, North Carolina, provides cabin rentals and essential services primarily catering to visitors of the popular theme park. While offering a practical place to stay with benefits like a shuttle service to and from the park, potential guests should be aware of some concerns raised by recent visitors regarding noise levels during weekend nights.

Proximity and Basic Comfort for Park Visitors

The primary advantage of Carowinds Camp Wilderness is its close proximity to Carowinds amusement park. This allows guests to easily access the park and enjoy a full day of thrills and entertainment without a long commute. The availability of a shuttle service to and from the park is a significant convenience, eliminating the need for parking at Carowinds itself. According to visitor feedback, the cabins at Camp Wilderness are generally considered to be a suitable size for sleeping after a day at the park and are reported to be clean. This basic comfort provides a functional space for rest and recuperation.

Essential Services and Limited Amenities

Carowinds Camp Wilderness offers some essential services aimed at facilitating a stay for park visitors. These include:

  • Cabin Rentals: The primary accommodation offered is cabin rentals, providing a more structured and enclosed lodging option compared to traditional tent camping. The size of the cabins appears to be adequate for sleeping purposes.
  • Shuttle Service to/from Carowinds: A significant benefit for park-goers is the provided shuttle service, offering convenient transportation to and from the amusement park, saving time and parking hassles.
  • Front Desk Assistance: A front desk is available to assist guests with check-in and basic inquiries. While one review noted that the staff's knowledge about the park itself might be limited, they were reported to be helpful within their capacity.

However, it's important to note some limitations in amenities reported by guests. One review mentioned the absence of a shower head in their cabin and the lack of complimentary toiletries, which are often expected in resort-style rentals. Potential guests should consider bringing their own toiletries and confirming the presence of essential fixtures in their assigned cabin.

Significant Noise Concerns During Weekend Nights

A recurring and significant concern raised by multiple reviewers is the extremely loud music originating from what is described as a warehouse parking lot located directly behind the cabins. This noise issue appears to be particularly prevalent on Friday and Saturday nights, often continuing late into the night (around 11:00 PM to 11:30 PM or even later). Guests have reported that the bass from the music is so intense that it causes windows in the cabins to shake, making it difficult, if not impossible, to sleep, especially for families with young children.

Reviewers indicate that this has been an ongoing problem, with staff acknowledging the issue upon check-in and attributing it to an off-property source. While security has reportedly been contacted and the police have been called by multiple campers in response to the excessive noise, the problem seems to persist. Guests have expressed frustration over the lack of apparent action or solution from the management of Carowinds Camp Wilderness to mitigate this disturbance, despite it significantly impacting their stay.

Features Primarily Geared Towards Park Access

The features of Carowinds Camp Wilderness are primarily centered around its function as a convenient lodging option for visiting Carowinds:

  • Proximity to Carowinds: The most significant feature is the close location to the amusement park, allowing for easy and quick access.
  • Shuttle Service: The dedicated shuttle service directly supports park visitation.
  • Basic Cabin Accommodation: The cabins offer a straightforward place to sleep after a day at the park.

Unlike campgrounds focused on a broader outdoor experience, Carowinds Camp Wilderness appears to prioritize functionality for park attendees. The lack of emphasis on traditional camping amenities or a tranquil natural environment is evident in the reviews, which primarily focus on the park access and the noise issue.

Limited Information on Promotional Offers for Local Users

Based on the provided information, there are no specific promotional offers for local users mentioned in the reviews. As the primary draw of Carowinds Camp Wilderness is its proximity to the amusement park, any promotions are likely tied to park visits or package deals. It is possible that local residents might find value in the convenience of staying close to the park, especially for multi-day visits or season pass holders. To inquire about any potential local discounts or packages, interested individuals would need to contact Carowinds Camp Wilderness directly at (704) 588-2600 or +1 704-588-2600.

Considerations for Your Stay at Carowinds Camp Wilderness

Carowinds Camp Wilderness offers a convenient lodging option for those planning to spend time at Carowinds amusement park. The clean cabins and shuttle service are definite advantages for park visitors. However, potential guests, especially local families with young children or anyone sensitive to noise, should be aware of the significant and recurring issue of loud music on weekend nights. While the campground management attributes this to an off-property problem, the impact on guests' ability to sleep and enjoy their stay is considerable, as highlighted in multiple reviews. If a quiet and restful night's sleep is a priority, particularly on a Friday or Saturday night, alternative lodging options in the area might be worth considering. For those primarily focused on park access and willing to potentially tolerate noise, Carowinds Camp Wilderness offers a functional and conveniently located base.
