Elmore RV Park Introduce
For local users seeking "camping near me" within close proximity to downtown Charlotte, Elmore RV Park, located at 4826 N Tryon St, Charlotte, NC 28213, USA, presents itself as an option. However, based on recent customer reviews, it's crucial for potential visitors to be aware of specific characteristics and policies that may significantly impact their stay. Elmore RV Park appears to cater primarily to longer-term residents, and the experience for short-term visitors, particularly those in RVs, may differ considerably from what one might expect at a traditional campground.
One reviewer who stayed at Elmore RV Park for four days over Christmas 2018 in a 5th wheel provided a detailed account of their experience. They noted that short-term stays are accommodated in a gravel parking lot situated at the entrance of the property. This area, according to the review, lacks typical campground amenities such as picnic tables and fire rings, essentially making it more of an RV parking space rather than a full-fledged campsite. While the location was chosen for its proximity to downtown Charlotte, the reviewer suggested that alternative campgrounds closer to Interstate 485 might offer equally convenient access to all parts of the city with potentially a more pleasant ambiance.
In terms of services, the review mentioned that the power and water supply at the gravel parking lot were adequate. However, a significant drawback reported was the very poor to non-existent Wi-Fi service. For travelers who rely on internet connectivity for work, communication, or entertainment, this could be a major inconvenience. The reviewer did note that the area was clean and somewhat concealed from the main road, which might be a positive aspect for some in terms of noise and visual separation from the busy street. However, despite this, the reviewer expressed a feeling of discomfort regarding the security of the area, citing the busy road and what they perceived as a "sketchy neighborhood."
Adding to the considerations for potential guests, the reviewer also mentioned the frequent noise from passing trains, police sirens, and ambulance sirens. While this did not personally bother the reviewer, they acknowledged that it could be a significant issue for individuals sensitive to noise. Furthermore, the gravel lot designated for short-term stays was described as being quite tight, and the reviewer anticipated that backing into a space could be very challenging if the lot were full. This is an important factor for RV owners to consider, especially those with larger rigs.
Perhaps the most significant and controversial feature of Elmore RV Park, highlighted in subsequent reviews, is its policy regarding children. Multiple reviewers expressed strong disapproval and even offense at the fact that the RV park reportedly does not allow children. One reviewer, writing in 2024, labeled this policy as "discrimination" and questioned how the owners could reconcile this policy, especially considering that animals are apparently permitted. This reviewer stated they would never recommend staying at Elmore RV Park due to this exclusionary policy.
Another reviewer echoed this sentiment, expressing disbelief and condemnation of the no-children policy. They rhetorically questioned whether the owners would even allow their own children or grandchildren to stay there, implying a fundamental issue with a business that seemingly excludes families with children while accepting pets. These strong reactions indicate that this policy is a major point of contention and a significant deterrent for many potential customers, particularly those traveling with families.
Given these reviews, it's essential for local users searching for "camping near me" to understand that Elmore RV Park appears to operate more as an adult-only RV parking facility for short-term stays, with limited amenities and potential concerns about the surrounding area and Wi-Fi connectivity. The primary advantage seems to be its proximity to downtown Charlotte, but even this is questioned by one reviewer who suggested that other locations might offer similar access with a better overall experience.
There is no indication of any promotional information in the provided reviews. The focus is on the practical experience of staying at the park and the controversial policy regarding children. Therefore, local users will need to weigh the convenience of the location against the reported lack of amenities for short-term stays, the poor Wi-Fi, potential security concerns, noise from traffic and emergency services, and, most notably, the policy of not allowing children. For families or those who object to such a policy, Elmore RV Park would likely not be a suitable choice.
In conclusion, Elmore RV Park in Charlotte, NC, offers a location near downtown, which might be appealing to some local users seeking "camping near me" for short-term RV stays. However, potential visitors should be aware that short-term guests are typically placed in a gravel parking lot with limited to no traditional campground amenities. Reviews highlight issues with poor Wi-Fi, potential concerns about the security of the surrounding area, and significant noise from trains and emergency vehicles. Most notably, the RV park has a policy of not accepting children, which has been met with strong negative reactions from reviewers who view this as discriminatory. Therefore, local users should carefully consider these factors and weigh them against the convenience of the location before deciding to stay at Elmore RV Park. For many, especially families, alternative RV parks or campgrounds in the Charlotte area might offer a more welcoming and amenity-rich experience.

Elmore RV Park Reviews
We stayed here with our 5th wheel for 4 days over Christmas 2018. Short term stays are put onto a gravel parking lot at the entrance so this isn't really a campground. (no amenities, no picnic table, no fire ring) We selected this location because it was the closest RV park to downtown Charlotte. Upon reflection we should have selected a campground close to 495 bc we would have had just as easy access to all parts of Charlotte (via 495) and probably more ambience. Power and water supply were adequate, WiFi was very poor to non existent. The area was clean and concealed from the main road however we did not feel comfortable with the security of the area. (Busy road, Sketchy neighborhood) Every day we heard the train and police and ambulance sirens going by which didn't bother us but some people might not like it. The gravel lot was also pretty tight and if it had been full, it would have been a real challenge to back in.
Jan 04, 2019 · cami koneckyReading reviews and website, The fact that they don’t take children DESPISES me! Do you not realize that’s discrimination? Do you not realize we are in 2024? You take animals but don’t take children. That’s so wrong in so many ways! So people in y’all’s families with children couldn’t stay there either???? Y’all should be ashamed. I will NEVER recommend staying here. That just goes to show that the people who run this place wouldn’t let their children or grandchildren stay here!! How can you live with yourselves!
Nov 01, 2024 · nicole casperThis park is geared towards long term tenants but will accommodate short and medium term renters as well. Short term rentals are in a gravel lot at the front of the park. The amenities there are no-frills but everything you need at a reasonable price. Despite being in a commercial area of town, the park is very safe and has mature landscaping. Very convenient to downtown, NoDa, and the University area. I love it here!
Feb 24, 2023 · Thermal T LangOkay, this is not a resort and my five stars would not indicate that the park is a luxury park. It only offers 30 amps, the water pressure is low and the sewer connection is not threaded. The price is not a bargain, but is reasonable for a site close to downtown. The sites are level and crushed rock. Even though it is practically on a busy street, being set back a little really seems to reduce the traffic noise. The wifi is blazing fast. Most of all the owners really go out of the way to get you settled in and tend to your needs. For those reasons I give 5 stars.
Dec 11, 2022 · Michael MillerWe stayed here for 9 nights only because we needed to be in Charlotte and this place was the most convenient. Almost all the sites had permanent or long term residents. For those passing through, you will likely get placed on the gravel lot at the front of the park. We were parked under a tree so that was nice. Park is right off a busy street with lots of noise. I never felt unsafe but chose to stay somewhere else the one night my dogs were not with me. The owner was very nice when I checked in. No bath or laundry facilities.
