Holiday Harbor Campground Introduce
For local residents in the Acworth, Georgia area seeking "camping near me," Holiday Harbor Campground, situated at 5989 Groovers Landing Rd SE, Acworth, GA 30102, USA, presents itself as an option with direct access to a marina. Based on recent customer reviews, the campground offers a mixed experience, with positive remarks about the camping spots and office staff contrasted by significant concerns regarding the cleanliness and functionality of certain facilities.
One reviewer offered a generally positive assessment of the camping spots, stating, "Great camping spots all of them." This suggests that the individual campsites themselves are well-located and potentially offer a pleasant outdoor setting. However, this positive feedback was accompanied by a critique of the shower facilities: "Showers hot could be cleaned little more. They really need to put some benches for people to sit down while undressing and dressing." This indicates that while hot water is available, the cleanliness of the showers could be improved, and the lack of seating is an inconvenience for users. On a more positive note, the reviewer commended the "Office staff or wonderful!" and expressed an intention to return ("I’ll be back"), suggesting that the customer service is a significant strength of Holiday Harbor Campground.
In stark contrast, another reviewer recounted a "terrible experience" at the RV park, labeling it the "worst one of the five years we’ve been camping!" This strongly negative feedback raises serious concerns for potential visitors, particularly those with RVs. The reviewer asserted that the "resort” definitely caters to the marina more than the campground," implying a potential imbalance in the focus and resources allocated to the camping area. The most severe criticisms were directed at the "bathrooms and showers," which were described as "horrible and in need for a drastic overhaul." The presence of pests, including a "roach" and a "huge wasp," further underscores the poor condition and lack of maintenance in these essential facilities. The laundry area, being "connected to the same building," was also negatively implied.
Adding to the list of drawbacks, this reviewer pointed out the absence of sewer hookups at the campsite, with a "mobile pump out" service available only on Fridays and Mondays at a cost deemed "more money than we were used to." This limited and costly service for RV waste disposal could be a significant inconvenience for campers staying for extended periods or those arriving mid-week.
Finally, the reviewer reported an infestation of "tiny little ants crawling all over the place" after only two days, even finding their way into the "engine compartment" of their vehicle. This suggests potential pest control issues within the campground. The approach of Hurricane Helene prompted this reviewer to leave earlier than planned, a decision they welcomed ("You didn’t have to twist my arm 😂"), further emphasizing their negative experience.
Considering these contrasting reviews, Holiday Harbor Campground appears to offer potentially pleasant camping spots and commendable office staff. However, significant issues exist regarding the cleanliness and condition of the bathrooms and showers, the lack of sewer hookups at campsites and the limited/costly pump-out service, and potential pest problems. The perceived prioritization of the marina over the campground by one reviewer is also a factor to consider for those primarily interested in the camping facilities.
Based on the available feedback, potential services and features of Holiday Harbor Campground might include:
Potential Services:
- "Great" Camping Spots: As mentioned by one reviewer, the individual campsites are potentially well-located and enjoyable. Further information on the types of campsites (tent, RV, etc.) and their amenities (e.g., water, electricity) is needed.
- Hot Showers: While the cleanliness is a concern, hot water is reportedly available in the showers.
- Mobile RV Pump-Out Service: Sewer pump-out is available for RVs on Fridays and Mondays for an additional fee.
- Office Staff: The office staff is described as "wonderful," suggesting good customer service for check-in and inquiries.
- Marina Access: The campground's proximity to a marina is a key feature, potentially offering access to boating, fishing, and other lake-related activities (though this is more related to the location than a direct campground service).
Potential Features:
- Location on Groovers Landing Rd SE, Acworth, GA: Provides a specific geographical context for local users.
- Proximity to Lake Allatoona: The presence of a marina strongly suggests that the campground is located on or near Lake Allatoona, a significant recreational resource in the area.
- Potential for Water-Related Activities: The marina access implies opportunities for boating, fishing, and other water sports, although these might be managed by the marina itself rather than the campground.

Great camping spots all of them.Showers hot could be cleaned little more. They really need to put some benches for people to sit down while undressing and dressing. Office staff or wonderful! I’ll be back
Apr 26, 2025 · Scott MachenWe had a terrible experience in this RV Park. I would say the worst one of the five years we’ve been camping! This “resort” definitely caters to the marina more than the campground. The bathrooms and showers were horrible and in need for a drastic overhaul. I saw a roach 🪳 crawling around and a huge wasp in the stall. Forget about doing the laundry which was connected to the same building 😝No sewer at the campsite, but they did have someone do a mobile pump out. It was more money than we were used to and you can only get it on Friday’s and Monday’s!Then to top it off, we noticed these tiny little ants crawling all over the place after two days of being there! They were even in the engine compartment 🙄With hurricane Helene approaching, we decided to leave earlier than planned. You didn’t have to twist my arm 😂
Sep 25, 2024 · Debbie MaderI love the outdoors and the scenery out there but one thing I don't like is all the boat traffic in the area, scare the fish away
Mar 21, 2025 · josh milllerUse to be good, then they raised the rates a lot, and have tons of ducks pooping everywhere. My dog got sick from it last time.
Apr 12, 2025 · Sharon BickelWe have been here several times and used to really enjoy it. The last trip however, we more than likely won’t be coming back. The bathhouse for the men only has one working shower, the bathrooms for the woman, only one stall doors locks. The provided outdoor grill is rusted completely in half and held together with two zip ties and a piece of plastic. A definite fire hazard.
