Based on recent feedback from visitors, accessing Big Pine Flat Family Campground involves a journey of approximately 30 minutes along a winding dirt road. This suggests that while the destination offers seclusion, potential campers should be prepared for unpaved road conditions. The reviews also highlight the prevalence of off-road vehicles and ATVs in the area. This indicates that the campground and its surroundings are popular among those who enjoy these types of recreational activities. Campers seeking a quieter, more traditional camping experience should be aware of the potential for noise and traffic associated with off-road vehicle use.
One reviewer described the campground as "secluded," reinforcing its remote location northeast of Big Bear Lake. This seclusion could be appealing to those looking to escape crowded campgrounds and immerse themselves in a more natural setting. However, the same review also noted the significant presence of "lots of off-road vehicles and ATVs," which is a crucial factor for prospective visitors to consider based on their preferences for campground ambiance and noise levels.
In contrast to the description of the campground's environment, another review provided a less positive experience regarding the campground management. This visitor recounted an interaction with the person "running the camp ground" that they perceived as "rude as heck." According to the review, this individual interrupted the reviewer while they were eating lunch to solicit them, seemingly to inform them they were on campground property. The reviewer felt the approach was impolite, stating, "He could've been nice about it." As a result of this negative interaction, the reviewer and their group decided to relocate to the nearby visiting area, packing up their meal and picnic table to move across the street. This anecdote raises concerns about the customer service and interaction with campground staff, which potential visitors may want to keep in mind.
Considering the limited information available in these two reviews, it is challenging to provide a comprehensive overview of the campground's services and features. The reviews primarily focus on the location, accessibility, and the presence of off-road vehicle enthusiasts, along with one negative interaction with the management. Information regarding specific amenities such as restrooms, water sources, fire pits, picnic tables (beyond the reviewer's personal picnic table), designated camping spots, or any potential fees is not provided in the given text.

Big Pine Flat Family Campground Reviews
This is a secluded campground located northeast of Big Bear lake. It takes roughly 30 minutes on a winding dirt road. Lots of off-road vehicles and ATVs here.
Aug 18, 2020 · Sergio HinojosaGuy running the camp ground is rude as heck. Literally was interrupted right in the middle of eating lunch by the guy just to be solicited that it was a camp ground. He could've been nice about it. So we had to pack up our half eaten lunch and picnic table into our trucks and drive across the street to the visiting area.
May 24, 2022 · Vincent. .Crites.Nice campground. We came in late at night so we stole the camp host spot. He came to collect fees in the morning and was totally understanding and super helpful explaining where the other campgrounds and yellow post sites were. Unfortunately they were out of water when we went but everything was clean and well maintained. Will definitely be back!
Jun 27, 2019 · Caitlin MillerGreat for OHV Camping. 4 stars due to no natural water sources like creeks, lakes etc nearby. Campsites are small, but it has running water and outhouses. 33' is the max trailer length. Weather is always better than surrounding areas no matter the season. No cell service, nearest is 2 miles away or on a ridge. Fire rings and picnic tables present. Shooting range a half mile away, but closes 1 June to 1 November I think.
Feb 12, 2019 · Seth NelsonNice spot to camp with OHVs. Getting a trailer/RV here is a lot harder than the maps would have you believe. It’s 45-60 minutes of dirt road travel once you leave Fawnskin.Any high clearance car/suv would be much easier but there’s plenty of areas where passing isn’t possible so meeting traffic could mean someone backing up to a clearing.Check website for annual season opening dates.
