The environment of McKinney Campground is a significant draw, with reviewers highlighting the "beautiful view on the Lake" (Lake Allatoona). Being a lakeside campground, visitors can expect picturesque scenery and potential access to water-related activities. The sites themselves are described as "nice" with a "flat pebbled area" that includes a grill, picnic table, and fire pit, providing a comfortable and well-equipped camping space. The overall atmosphere is noted as "relaxing," making it an ideal spot for those looking to unwind and enjoy nature. While the tranquility might be occasionally punctuated by the sounds of speed boats and jet skis on the lake, as well as the happy honking of geese, the general ambiance is one of peaceful enjoyment of the natural surroundings.

While the bathrooms are mentioned as being "a bit of a hike away," the showers are praised for having "great pressure and nice hot water," though one reviewer suggested they "could use a good scrub." This indicates that while the essential shower service is good, the overall cleanliness of the bathroom facilities might be an area for potential improvement.
The features of McKinney Campground that stand out include its beautiful location on Lake Allatoona, the spacious and well-maintained sites, and the exceptional service provided by the staff. The flat pebbled areas at each site enhance comfort and usability. The availability of both pull-through and back-in sites caters to different types of camping setups. However, one reviewer noted that some back-in sites look "challenging" due to "steep hills," advising campers to ensure their backing skills match their chosen site. The lake access provides opportunities for scenic views and possibly water-based recreation, although this isn't explicitly detailed in the reviews provided.

Apr 01, 2025 · D. MorganBeautiful view on the Lake. This COE campground has nice sites with flat pebbled area that has the grill, picnic table and fire pit.The bathrooms are a bit of a hike away. The showers have great pressure and nice hot water but could use a good scrub. It is very relaxing but not quiet. The speed boats and jet skis blast pat. Sound carrys well on the water and you can hear people talking on the other side of the lake and the geese here and happy and honking.I parked on a pull through site #34 and it was perfect for my set up. It faced West so I got a great sunset and a beautiful full moon set. There are some back in sites that look challenging, steep hills to back in. Make sure your confidence and backing skill match your camp site.
Mar 12, 2025 · Colleen DussexIF I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS THEN I WOULD!! I've never been treated like this anywhere! The woman at the front was beyond rude and extremely demeaning! I will NEVER EVER go back there again. After getting the park ranger called on us for not being gone right at check out time then we have bounced to two other campgrounds today only to be told we cannot stay there and a refund will come in a few days. They've taken every dime I had to my name and now I have nowhere to go and absolutely no money to invest into a hotel room or anything. They need to find some empathy. And also last night a branch fell into the top of our tent and made it buckle in the middle and we ended up sitting in about 4 inches of water that had gathered on our pad. All of our stuff is ruined and all clothes are soaking wet and we didn't even get the decency to be allowed to ring our stuff out or drain the water from our tent. Now our car is soaked with water also. This review is not about other Bartow county park and rec employees at other campgrounds. THEY'RE TERRIFIC AND SUPER SWEET! This is only for the McKinney employees!!
Sep 27, 2024 · Ashley Ann KehrThere last year wonderful couple greeted us. I really hope to see them again and say go Gators
Apr 26, 2025 · Scott MachenMcKinney Campground is in a great location. The campground seems to have a lot of rules that they reiterate when checking in but the hosts and park rangers are very nice! The showers/restrooms NEED a major upgrade but I will say, the water in the shower is very hot! Overall, the campground was fairly quiet during our stay except for the small baby that was crying around 6am!
