Cave Creek Campground

Great camping spot near The Oregon National Caves National Monument. Stayed at campsite #8 and there's a grouping of 4 trees adjacent to the stream that worked great for hammock camping. The campsite was $10 per night and included an outhouse, of decent condition in pit toilet style, potable water near the pay station, a rather ground-sunken picnic table, a 1/4 circle campfire fit (did not use personally as fire season), and plenty of flat/cleared space for tent camping as needed. There was even a rather bold baby chipmunk that was quite determined to turn out our pockets, regardless of our apparently lackluster attempts to "shoo" the little creature away.Overall a great campsite and will definitely be stopping by again in the future for another hike through the caves. - J Stephens

The natural environment surrounding Cave Creek Campground is a significant draw for visitors. Campers rave about the lush forests that envelop the area, providing a sense of immersion in nature and opportunities for exploration and hiking. The presence of Cave Creek itself adds to the charm, with some campsites, like site #8, located right alongside the creek. This offers the soothing sounds of flowing water and even the chance to discover small aquatic life like salamanders and fish fry in the creek's swimming holes, creating a unique and engaging experience for nature lovers of all ages.

In terms of services and features, Cave Creek Campground focuses on providing essential amenities for a comfortable and enjoyable camping experience without unnecessary frills, keeping it remarkably affordable at just $10 per night with a limit of two vehicles per campsite. Each campsite is equipped with a ground-sunken picnic table, offering a designated space for meals and gatherings. A campfire fit is also provided, although its use may be restricted during fire season, as noted by a reviewer who appreciated the gesture of a provided wood pile even when fires were prohibited.

For basic sanitation needs, the campground offers outhouses described as being in decent condition for pit toilets. Potable water is also readily available near the pay station, ensuring campers have access to a vital resource. Furthermore, each campsite is equipped with a bear box, a crucial feature in bear country that allows campers to safely store food and scented items, contributing to both human and wildlife safety.

One of the standout features highlighted by campers is the suitability of the terrain for various camping preferences. Many sites offer plenty of flat and cleared space ideal for traditional tent camping. The positive experiences shared by reviewers, including encounters with the local wildlife like the "bold baby chipmunk," add a touch of natural charm and memorable moments to the camping experience.

It is important to note a specific piece of information regarding access for larger vehicles. According to a reviewer, travel trailers are not allowed past Graback Campground, which is located at the bottom of the mountain leading to Cave Creek Campground. This restriction is likely due to the narrow and twisty nature of the road, which, while enjoyed by some for its scenic drive, presents challenges for larger vehicles. Therefore, those planning to camp at Cave Creek Campground should be aware of this limitation and plan accordingly, primarily considering tent camping or smaller vehicle setups.

While the provided information does not include details about specific promotional offers or discounts, the already low price of $10 per night makes Cave Creek Campground an exceptionally affordable option for 'camping near me' in this beautiful region of Oregon. The value for money, combined with the natural beauty and proximity to attractions like the Oregon Caves, makes it a highly recommended destination for budget-conscious travelers and outdoor enthusiasts.

To ensure you have the most up-to-date information regarding campsite availability, potential seasonal closures, and any specific regulations or recommendations, it is advisable to contact the relevant authorities or check online resources related to the Oregon Caves National Monument and surrounding campgrounds. While a direct phone number for Cave Creek Campground is not provided in the initial information, resources related to the National Monument or local visitor centers may offer further assistance.

In conclusion, Cave Creek Campground offers a fantastic opportunity for an immersive and affordable camping experience near the Oregon Caves National Monument. With its creek-side locations, basic yet essential amenities, suitability for both tent and hammock camping, and a tranquil natural environment, it's a hidden gem for those seeking a genuine connection with nature. While access for large travel trailers is restricted, the campground's charm, affordability, and proximity to key attractions make it a highly recommended choice for your next 'camping near me' adventure in Oregon.
