Charred Oak RV Park Introduce
For local residents in search of "camping near me" options around Morehead, KY, Charred Oak RV Park, situated at 333 BEN LOWE RD, Morehead, KY 40351, USA, presents a small and conveniently located choice. With contact numbers (606) 776-6948 and +1 606-776-6948, this RV park offers a more basic camping experience with a focus on affordability and a quieter atmosphere. Based on the available customer reviews, Charred Oak RV Park has both its advantages and disadvantages that local users should consider when planning their RV getaway.
The environment of Charred Oak RV Park is described as being "tucked away but near town," suggesting a location that offers both a sense of seclusion and easy access to the amenities and conveniences of Morehead. The presence of "tall beautiful trees" indicates a potentially pleasant and shaded setting, contributing to a peaceful ambiance. One reviewer specifically noted the peacefulness of the location. Additionally, the park features a "small hiking trail," offering opportunities for short nature walks and exploration of the immediate surroundings. These environmental aspects could appeal to local RVers looking for a tranquil spot close to home with some natural features to enjoy.
In terms of services and features, Charred Oak RV Park is characterized as a "small 10 space RV park," indicating a more intimate camping experience compared to larger campgrounds. The campsites are reported to be of a "decent size," likely providing adequate space for parking RVs and setting up a comfortable outdoor area. The park offers basic RV hookups, including water and electricity, although one review noted that the "water hook up was pretty sketchy," which is an important point for potential visitors to be aware of. The availability of a fire ring at the park suggests that campers can enjoy campfires, a common and desirable aspect of the camping experience. Furthermore, "nice picnic tables" are provided, offering a convenient space for outdoor dining and other activities.
One notable aspect of Charred Oak RV Park, based on a review, is the lack of on-site management or oversight. The reviewer stated, "No one on site to oversee, so you are on your own." This implies a more independent camping experience where campers are responsible for their own needs and any issues that may arise. This could be a positive for those who prefer minimal interaction and value privacy, but it's a crucial consideration for those who might require assistance or prefer a more supervised campground environment.
The clientele at Charred Oak RV Park, according to one review, consisted mostly of "workers" who were quiet and kept to themselves. This suggests that the atmosphere is generally calm and not oriented towards large social gatherings or recreational activities beyond basic camping and the small hiking trail. For local RVers seeking a low-key and peaceful spot, this could be an advantage. However, those looking for a more vibrant or community-oriented camping experience might find this park less suitable.
Pricing is mentioned as a significant positive aspect of Charred Oak RV Park, with one reviewer stating that the "price was very reasonable." This affordability could be a major draw for local users seeking a budget-friendly option for RV camping near Morehead. For those prioritizing cost-effectiveness over extensive amenities or on-site services, Charred Oak RV Park might be an attractive choice.
However, there are some drawbacks mentioned in the reviews that local users should be aware of. One reviewer reported finding "trash all over outside when we arrived that we had to clean up," indicating a potential issue with cleanliness or maintenance at the time of their visit. This is a significant concern and highlights the importance of being prepared for potentially less-than-ideal conditions upon arrival. The aforementioned "sketchy" water hookup is another point of caution that RVers should consider, perhaps inquiring about the current status of the water system before booking.
Given the limited information and the mixed reviews, Charred Oak RV Park seems to offer a no-frills, budget-friendly option for local RVers. Its convenient location near Morehead, coupled with the peaceful environment featuring tall trees and a small hiking trail, are positive aspects. The provision of decent-sized spots, picnic tables, and a fire ring offers basic camping amenities. However, the potential issues with cleanliness upon arrival and the questionable water hookup, along with the lack of on-site management, are significant considerations. The quiet atmosphere due to the presence of mostly workers might appeal to some but not others.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available for Charred Oak RV Park in the provided reviews. Local users interested in staying at this park should contact them directly at (606) 776-6948 or +1 606-776-6948 to inquire about current rates, site availability, and the status of the water hookups. It would also be prudent to ask about their current maintenance practices to address the cleanliness concerns raised in one of the reviews. Due to the limited information and the mixed feedback, it is essential for potential visitors to gather more details directly from the park before making a reservation.
In conclusion, Charred Oak RV Park near Morehead, KY, offers a small, conveniently located, and reasonably priced option for local RVers seeking a quieter camping experience. The presence of tall trees, picnic tables, a small hiking trail, and a fire ring are appealing features. However, potential visitors should be aware of the reported issues regarding cleanliness upon arrival and the sketchy water hookup, as well as the lack of on-site management. For those prioritizing affordability and a basic camping experience with a peaceful environment, Charred Oak RV Park might be suitable, but thorough communication with the park management is recommended to ensure it meets your specific needs and expectations. Consider calling the provided phone numbers to get the most up-to-date information and make an informed decision about your "camping near me" choice.

Charred Oak RV Park Reviews
This review is tricky. Location is conveniently located, tucked away but near town. Small 10 space Rv park, people were mostly workers and quiet, kept to themselves. Spots are decent size. Price was very reasonable. The bad, trash all over outside when we arrived that we had to clean up. The water hook up was pretty sketchy. No one on site to oversee, so you are on your own. If you are looking for low cost spot to park your rig with basics this is the place.
Nov 05, 2024 · Tracy and John Full time Rv’ersGreat place. Tall beautiful trees, nice picnic tables, small hiking trail, fire ring, very peaceful.
Oct 24, 2021 · Jessica LuellenThis is a beautiful location. It is far enough off the main roads to be quiet and peaceful, but the access to the park and camping spots are very easy to navigate. The park is close to Eagle Trace golf course, Cave Run lake, and miles of hiking trails. The park is less than 10 minutes from Morehead where there are many restaurants, grocery stores, and regional artisan shopping opportunities. There is also a beautiful, well equipped regional airport less than 5 miles away. If you are looking for a place to relax for a few days, or a “home base” to explore this beautiful region of eastern Kentucky, I would highly recommend Charred Oak RV Park.
