Chesapeake Ranch Estates Campgrounds Introduce
For local users in Maryland searching for "camping near me," Chesapeake Ranch Estates Campgrounds, located at 295 Thunderbird Dr, Lusby, MD 20657, USA, presents a camping option with some unique aspects to consider. You can reach them at (410) 326-3184 or their mobile number, +1 410-326-3184, for inquiries and bookings. Based on the available reviews, the experience at this campground appears to be somewhat varied, with significant praise for the campground host alongside a concerning report regarding the management and check-in procedures.
One reviewer shared an overwhelmingly positive experience specifically highlighting the campground host, Earle. This camper, who has been traveling the country full-time for five years, expressed that Earle provided service "way above what any normal host would," even wishing they could give him a "10-star review." The situation described involved a "dire emergency" with a dying family member, and the reviewer credited Earle's help and local knowledge as invaluable during a difficult time. They described him as an "outstanding man" and a "great asset to the campground," noting his constant work ethic and "wonderful..caring personality." This exceptionally positive feedback suggests that the hospitality provided by at least one staff member can be a significant highlight of a stay at Chesapeake Ranch Estates Campgrounds, potentially fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for campers.
However, a contrasting review presents a serious concern regarding the management of the campground. This reviewer recounted a negative experience during check-in, alleging that the manager's behavior was "unacceptable." The specific issue involved being "screamed at" for needing an HOA (Homeowners Association) person to sponsor the check-in. This requirement for HOA sponsorship is a unique aspect not typically found in public campgrounds and suggests a potential connection to the Chesapeake Ranch Estates community. This requirement could pose a significant barrier for those not affiliated with the HOA and warrants further investigation by potential campers.
The negative experience escalated when the reviewer used the bathroom before leaving, after being unable to check in. The manager reportedly threatened to call the police on the reviewer for this action. The reviewer also claimed that the manager's wife exhibited similar behavior and mentioned having a video recording of the incident. While it's important to consider that this is a single account, it raises serious questions about the customer service and management style at the campground. The fact that the reviewer had traveled a long distance from Alaska only exacerbates the negative impact of this alleged treatment.
Given these contrasting reviews, it is difficult to form a complete picture of the environment, services, and features of Chesapeake Ranch Estates Campgrounds without further information. The positive review strongly suggests that the campground host is a dedicated and caring individual who goes above and beyond for the campers. This could indicate a welcoming and helpful atmosphere in terms of on-the-ground assistance and local guidance.
On the other hand, the negative review points to potential issues with the campground's management and its unique requirement for HOA sponsorship during check-in. This could imply that access to the campground might be restricted to those affiliated with the Chesapeake Ranch Estates HOA or sponsored by a member. This is a crucial piece of information for local users searching for "camping near me," as it could significantly impact their ability to book and stay at this location.
Without additional information, it is impossible to objectively describe the physical environment of the campground, the types of campsites available (e.g., RV sites, tent sites), the amenities offered (e.g., restrooms, showers, water hookups, electrical hookups, recreational facilities), or any specific features that might attract campers (e.g., proximity to nature trails, water bodies, or local attractions). Similarly, no promotional information is available in the provided reviews.
Therefore, for local users considering Chesapeake Ranch Estates Campgrounds, the immediate priority should be to contact them directly at (410) 326-3184 or +1 410-326-3184 to inquire about the following critical aspects:
- The requirement for HOA sponsorship for check-in: Understand the specifics of this policy and whether it applies to all campers or only certain types of stays. Determine if there are alternative ways for non-HOA members to book a site.
- Check-in procedures: Clarify the exact process for checking in to avoid any potential misunderstandings or negative interactions.
- Availability and booking: Inquire about site availability, reservation procedures, and any associated costs.
- Amenities and services: Obtain detailed information about the facilities and services offered at the campground, such as the types of hookups available, restroom and shower facilities, laundry, recreational areas, and any other amenities that might be important to your camping experience.
- Environment and features: Ask about the physical environment of the campground, including the types of campsites, the surrounding natural landscape, and any specific features or attractions within or near the campground.
In conclusion, Chesapeake Ranch Estates Campgrounds presents a mixed picture based on the limited review information. The exceptional praise for the campground host, Earle, suggests a potential for positive interactions and helpful service. However, the serious allegations regarding the management and the unusual requirement for HOA sponsorship are significant factors that local users searching for "camping near me" must consider and investigate further before making a booking. Contacting the campground directly is essential to gain a clear understanding of their policies, procedures, and offerings to ensure a suitable and positive camping experience.

Chesapeake Ranch Estates Campgrounds Reviews
I just have to give the campground host 5 star review. I wish it could be a 10 star. Earle has gone way above what any normal host would. We have been traveling the country for 5 years so I am confident saying this. We have come here with dire emergency with sister in law dying of stage 4 cancer. If it wasn't for Earles help n knowledge of area we would have been lost. What an outstanding man and great asset to the campground. He is always working n has a wonderful..caring personality. We will stay here every year when we come back to the area !! Great guy
Aug 09, 2024 · Denise McenaneyThe guy who manages the place needs to be fired. His behavior is unacceptable. I was trying to check in & he screamed at me about needing an HOA person to sponsor you. So I used the bathroom before leaving & he wanted to call police on me. His wife was just as bad. I have a video of it. I'll find and post. Everyone has a bad day- but I had traveled from Alaska & didn't deserve it.
Jul 14, 2024 · Michele “Meechie”I'm just wondering how hoa members have to pay over a 1000$ a month for a tent site why are we paying dues for amenities every year I can rent a whole house for the price of a campsite???!!!
Sep 26, 2024 · ca ca no wayFree wood, Free beaches & lake. Friendly people. Everyone makes you feel at home there.
Jul 28, 2017 · SamiGreat trees. Lots of nature. Beaches are beautiful to visit just don't buy. HOA is terrible. No snow plowed for days. Roads are not paved correctly for years. They don't enforce neighbors allowing disrepair to homes but are quick to tell you what fence they allow.
