Cold Spring Basecamp Introduce
For local adventurers seeking an extraordinary "camping near me" experience, Cold Spring Basecamp, nestled at 125 Cold Spg Base Rd, Zirconia, NC 28790, USA, offers a diverse range of unique accommodation options and a promising natural environment. Located in the scenic region of North Carolina, this basecamp appears to cater to a variety of camping preferences, from traditional primitive camping to more novel stays in treehouses and solar-powered A-frames. Its location at the end of a dead-end road suggests a secluded and peaceful setting, yet with convenient access to local highways and the interstate, making it an accessible escape for local residents.
The environment surrounding Cold Spring Basecamp seems to be a significant draw, with one reviewer mentioning "winding trails" and a "waterfall" on the property. This indicates opportunities for exploration, hiking, and enjoying the natural beauty of the area. The secluded location at the end of a dead-end road ensures a lack of through traffic, contributing to a quieter and more tranquil atmosphere. The variety of accommodation options, from primitive sites to more structured units, suggests a landscape that can accommodate different camping styles, potentially ranging from wooded areas for tent camping to more open spaces for the unique structures.
In terms of services and ongoing developments, Cold Spring Basecamp is actively expanding its facilities to enhance the guest experience. The owner is currently in the process of building a "new bath house for campers," which will be a significant upgrade for those utilizing the primitive sites and other accommodations without private facilities. This indicates a commitment to improving the comfort and convenience for all guests. Additionally, the owner plans to add more of the "solar-powered A-frames," which are described as "very nice for two people," suggesting a popular and comfortable option for couples or solo travelers. The availability of "full Plumbing and Electric" in the treehouse highlights a more glamping-style experience for those seeking more amenities.
The features of Cold Spring Basecamp are particularly noteworthy due to their uniqueness and variety. For the traditional camper, "primitive camping" sites are available. For those seeking a more distinctive experience, the basecamp offers "solar-powered A-frames with one bed inside," providing a step up from tent camping with basic shelter and power. The "Camp cabins" are described as "closed on three sides with one open front side," also equipped with "solar power and propane cook," and one even has a "heating stove" (Bill's cabin), offering a rustic yet comfortable shelter with basic cooking facilities. Each camp cabin has an "outhouse close by." The highlight for many might be the "tree house," which is a "true Treehouse not one of those standing on wooden stilts," featuring "full Plumbing and Electric with a bathroom and walk-in tile shower," a "queen bed on the main floor with a kitchenette and deck access," and a loft with another queen bed (though with low ceilings). A unique feature of the treehouse is the "Swinging Bridge from the platform to the main house," adding an element of adventure to the stay. A "Fire pit next to stairs" is available for outdoor enjoyment, although a grill is not provided at the treehouse. The mention of a "sauna" that the reviewer looks forward to experiencing suggests another amenity available at the basecamp.
Promotional information for Cold Spring Basecamp should emphasize its unique and diverse accommodation options, catering to a wide range of camping preferences. Highlighting the "true Treehouse" with its full amenities and the charming solar-powered A-frames would attract those looking for a memorable and comfortable stay. The rustic camp cabins with solar power and propane cooktops offer a middle ground between primitive camping and full-service cabins. The ongoing development of a new bathhouse and the planned addition of more A-frames signal continuous improvement and investment in guest comfort. The natural environment, with its winding trails and waterfall, should also be prominently featured, appealing to nature lovers and those seeking outdoor exploration. The secluded yet convenient location near highways and the interstate makes it easily accessible for local residents. Promotional materials could showcase the unique structures, the scenic beauty of the property, and the promise of a tranquil and adventurous getaway. Taglines like "Your Unique Adventure Awaits," "Experience Camping Like Never Before," or "Discover the Charm of Cold Spring Basecamp" could be effective in attracting local campers.
The positive reviews serve as strong endorsements. The description of the basecamp as an "Awesome place to go" and the detailed account of the treehouse's comfort and unique features are compelling. The positive experience in "Bill's Cabin," despite a storm, highlighting its coziness and the enjoyment of the trails and waterfall, further attests to the quality of the accommodations and the natural attractions of the property. The anticipation of the sauna and bathhouse in a future visit indicates that these amenities are desirable and expected to enhance the experience.
For local users searching for "camping near me" and seeking something beyond the traditional campground, Cold Spring Basecamp offers a compelling array of unique lodging options, from primitive sites to charming A-frames and well-appointed cabins, culminating in the exceptional treehouse experience. Cold Spring Basecamp Reviews
Awesome place to go. Basically at the end of a dead end road so no through traffic period convenient to local highways and interstate. A variety of options from primitive camping to solar-powered A-frame with one bed inside. Owner is in process of building a new bath house for campers. Owner stated he is also planning to add more A-frames which are very nice for two people. There are also several Camp cabins that are closed on three sides with one open front side. They also have solar power and propane cook and one of them even has a heating stove. I believe that's Bill's cabin. Each of them have an outhouse close by. We stayed at the tree house which is a true Treehouse not one of those standing on wooden stilts. The Treehouse has full Plumbing and Electric with a bathroom and walk-in tile shower. One queen bed on main floor with a kitchenette and deck access. Climb the ladder to The Loft and there is another queen bed and small chair but very low ceilings. The Swinging Bridge from the platform to the main house is really neat. Fire pit next to stairs. No Grill. Treehouse very comfortable.
Apr 17, 2025 · Steve DentonWe had a wonderful two-night stay at Bill’s Cabin for a little friends’ getaway. The space had everything we needed, and it was clear that a lot of thought went into the details. We loved exploring the property’s winding trails and visiting the waterfall. Even with a big storm rolling through, we stayed dry and cozy in the cabin. Looking forward to experiencing the sauna and bathhouse next time—will definitely be back!
Feb 18, 2025 · Rachel BiskerJust returned home from a one night stay in an awesome treehouse! Would do it again. Facilities were top notch and the view was incredible. Much more comfortable than expected. We loved it! The owner and the host were very accommodating and very kind as well.
Apr 12, 2025 · Linda KeyWe had a wonderful and peaceful and fun stay! It was an awesome way to celebrate the end of 2024 and bring in 2025. Sleeping in the tree house is heaven! The grownups AND the kids loved it! The views and the quiet — punctuated only by the gurgling of the creek right next to the tree house — and the sky full of stars were our highlights! We will be back!
Dec 31, 2024 · Jay CarsonAbsolutely LOVED our stay. Such a calm and cozy retreat. The treehouse was gorgeous and really well designed -- even in 20 degree weather, we stay nice and toasty. Just a beautiful location to disconnect and only 20 min to downtown Hendersonville, which is adorable. Definitely will be back. This is a gem.
