One of the primary draws of DuPont Campground, as highlighted by a recent visitor, is its prime location as a "great place to hike to falls." This strongly suggests that the campground is situated in close proximity to scenic waterfalls, likely within DuPont State Recreational Forest or a nearby area known for its cascading waters and hiking trails. For outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy exploring waterfalls and immersing themselves in the beauty of nature through hiking, DuPont Campground appears to be an ideal basecamp. This commendation underscores the commitment to guest satisfaction at DuPont Campground.
Another camper, who relocated from the nearby Davidson River Campground, expressed immense satisfaction with their move to DuPont Campground. This direct comparison highlights several key advantages of DuPont Campground. Firstly, they noted the "nice sizable campsites," indicating that the individual camping plots offer ample space for tents, RVs, and outdoor gear, allowing for a more comfortable and less cramped experience. Secondly, they appreciated the greater sense of privacy at DuPont Campground compared to their previous location. Privacy is a significant factor for many campers seeking a secluded and peaceful retreat in nature.
Perhaps one of the most distinctive features praised by this reviewer is the bathhouse, which they described as feeling "like a spa." This exceptional compliment speaks volumes about the cleanliness and atmosphere of the restroom and shower facilities. The reviewer further emphasized how "clean and relaxing" the bathhouse is, suggesting that DuPont Campground prioritizes the comfort and hygiene of these essential amenities. A well-maintained and pleasant bathhouse can significantly elevate the overall camping experience, especially for those who appreciate a touch of comfort while enjoying the outdoors.
Adding to the local appeal, the reviewer also mentioned the presence of an "ice cream shop up the road" that is "worth visiting." This suggests that while the campground offers a natural and potentially secluded setting, it is also conveniently located near local businesses that can provide additional enjoyment and convenience during your stay. The prospect of indulging in a treat at a nearby ice cream shop after a day of hiking or relaxing at the campsite adds a touch of local charm to the overall experience.

While the reviews provide a strong positive impression, specific details regarding the types of campsites available (tent-only, RV sites with hookups), the availability of other amenities (such as fire pits, picnic tables, laundry facilities, Wi-Fi), or specific details about the hiking trails and waterfalls accessible from the campground are not explicitly mentioned. DuPont Campground Reviews
A great place to hike to falls. Staff at visitor center was friendly, instructional and very helpful. Highly recommended!!
Apr 01, 2025 · Candi StaudingerWe moved here from Davidson River Campground, and I'm so happy we did. This campground has nice sizable campsites, is more private, and the bathhouse feels like a spa. It's so clean, and relaxing in there. There is an ice cream shop up the road worth visiting too.
May 12, 2024 · Angela ReynosoBeautiful campground in a convenient location. This new campground is less than 5 minutes from some of the most popular hiking and biking trails in DuPont. We stayed in the Sherrys Trail section surrounded by tall poplars and blooming mountain laurel. The bathhouse is the nicest we've ever experienced while camping and after a long day hiking and biking, it was much appreciated. One note, if you are camping in a tent, bring earplugs because of the proximity to the road. There is not a lot of traffic, but if you are a light sleeper it could keep you up. The owners were incredibly friendly and accommodating and we look forward to our next stay at DuPont campground.
May 13, 2024 · Nathan LiBasciWithout a doubt the best campground I have ever been to!!!....From the gorgeous and immaculately clean bathrooms, to the fantastic friendliest of the owners...this is the hidden gem near Asheville!!! I could go on but I hesitate because I want to make sure there is an open spot for me when I come back through...Sherry a million thanks!!
Dec 22, 2024 · Katrina MorganWhere do I begin, first off Sherry and Terri are such amazing people! We were their first long term stay. We were there for 3 months and the accommodations were very welcoming. The bathhouse is the nicest I’ve ever seen at a campground.Terri was very helpful giving advice on fixing something on rv. We felt like family with them. They will always be a spot for them in our hearts. We will be back in the area in October and planning on stopping in to see them!!Great campground! Nice ground, clean bathhouse, quiet, great stars, wilderness sounds, it was a great experience.Thank you!!
